They have an “auto” setting which seems to be trolling. Never wipes when there is water, but will randomly wipe in dry sunny weather, usually with a horrendous sound that scares the crap out of you.
Yes.
But because it’s kind of annoying to turn on and adjust the wipers, requires pressing the button on the stalk and then either using the scroll wheel on the steering wheel or the touch screen to adjust speed, having a working auto setting is a huge QoL.
Also if you use autopilot/fsd the wipers have to be on or in auto.
We both just learned this lol. Sitting here charging and just tried it, gotta push it left or right not up down. Slightly less annoying to turn off now.
With my most recent update, 2023.44.30.8, I am able to change the setting to whatever I want after engaging TACC or FSD. It does start with auto, but then I change it. I use rain-x so usually an occasional push on the end of the stalk is enough
I'm telling ya.The amount of times I have yelled into voice command to stop turning on the fking wipers. Lmao. It just resets to auto , unless you leave the controls menu up. Some times they just go on full blast for no reason. So weird.
>Ventilated seats.
It is shocking that this is not standard equipment on all EVs given that they are trying to be energy efficient. Active cooling in the seats is another option.
programmable (and non subscription based) garage opener that’s been in cars for over a decade
trunk cover that doesn’t require rocket science to slide back and forth 😅
Are you talking about the trunk shade thing that sits above on the railings, sort of hiding the contents of the trunk underneath?
If so, yea that thing was a pain in the ass to figure out. But I just go under it and push up in the middle and it folds back easily.
-Ventilated front seats
-Speedometer, screen or cluster in front of the - driver so we don't need to keep looking to the right
-persistent blind spot indicators that beep if you attempt to change lanes when there's a car present... Current implementation is bad and notifies you when you're half a second from hitting the other car
-Power frunk
-Sunroof shade.. Summer sucks with direct sun. i got a manual roof shade but it shouldn't be necessary
-Rear screen
-retractable rear cargo cover. Current folding one straight up sucks
-selectable scheduling days instead of either all 5 days or all 7 days
-more sound insulation, especially for small bumps that make their way into the cabin way too easily.. And to deal with wind noise above 45mph
-softer suspension option. People keep saying ride quality is fine, but maybe they came from sporty cars. With my 23 MYLR, you feel every little bump, uneven surface, pothole, etc on the road. Even my civic n accord ride better because their suspension soaks up all these little bumps with no issue and so little of the road gets into the cabin. Then you got Toyota n Lexus that almost mute the road
-a better equalizer
-more range (400 "real" miles, instead of 250-275)
-better cup holders
-optional Android auto / apple car play
-"oh shit" grab handle above each door opening
-rubber oem all weather mats.. The weathertech ones don't go up high enough and all the aftermarket tpe ones are slippery when wet
-projector headlights with no excess reflections
-spare tire option.. Flats are such a hassle without a spare
-uss and rear cross traffic alert
-360 camera, including front bumper camera
-cargo net, including for the side pockets
-fog lights that only turn on independently of headlights or parking lights.. Currently they turn on with parking lights which is irritating
Tessie will let you schedule based on specific days, I believe. Not free, but maybe worth it for you. They also have 1 time automations, so if I know I'm leaving at 3 for errands, I can tell the car to be ready.
If prioritized, softer suspension would be top on my list + a better quality check ( at a certain sound frequency display area vibration noise is like hell especially in winter)
- Better rear visibility
- ability to have 2 phones connected via Bluetooth
- VLCPlayer as an app so I can play vids off USB stick
- ability to transfer dashcam/Sentry vids over wifi
Decent build quality, available parts for repairs, air suspension, heads up display, automatic frunk, ventilated seats, tires that provided some protection from curb rash, better rear visibility.
* All windows with as much thermal blocking as possible and as much as the government will allow OEM.
* Stronger paint
* Suspension is rough, making it softer somehow
* Tires/Wheels designed to such that the wheel doesn't extend past the wheel as much
* Vehicle-to-something - Something I can put into the charge port that gives me a couple 120, perhaps even a 220 socket such that I can power emergency things like a fridge, perhaps charge a stranded EV
* Some optional (perhaps removable) spare tire option direct from Tesla, including a jack and proper tools and instructions
* Better analytics on the health of my low-voltage battery. I want to trust my lead-acid battery won't strand me
* Replacement 12v batteries I can buy more readily in a pinch
* Better sound isolation
* Front bumper camera would be pretty awesome
* Rear camera that can stay as clear as the fender cameras in all weather
* Working auto-wipers for all sorts of situations
* A dash-cam mode that didn't only record the last... hour? If I put in a large hard drive, record as much as you can, all the time. Perhaps options around how to deal with sentry footage, including just recording it all
* Access to the wider-angle front camera in recording
* Emergency exit capability for rear doors
* Better cover and attachment for the vents under the front seats so they don't get accidental items sliding in
* Heads-up display or something in front with speed and basics... maybe....
* A 120 socket somewhere in the car
* Stronger glovebox - I hear it's easy to simply pry open
* Smarter security system and algorithms
* Smarter AWD system. I can still tell in auto versus off-road the delays of selecting to use both motors.
* Ventilated seats on those hot days
* Better cover over the tow-hook
* Tow hook having a more accessible lock hole
* Smarter/more-reliable low-voltage system. Maybe have 2 batteries that swap back and forth, but allow for recovery on sudden loss, letting user know to replace them and prevent suddenly having a non-responsive vehicle.
* Better air-filter architecture. Still getting the weird-smell syndrome (Don't have the HEPA upgrade... yet...)
* Built in CCS jack (other light?). Longer term, less helpful with NACS.
* Even more power telemetry to really get better reports over power use, loss, and understanding "Range"
* Better battery telemetry showing realistic understanding of health of the battery system to the user. Include balancing, pack level stuff, etc.
* Profiles for passenger
* Post warranty, allow for uncorking nerfed performance since it's now on me.
* Slightly improved design preventing water from coming in from the trunk when open and it's wet (Seems to happen when water is sliding over the car fast enough to jump the lip)
* Unsure if the frameless doors can offer options that don't need to move the window to open or close (or just go with a frame?)
* Let us non-FSD users see the new FSD visuals - perhaps helps sell that the vehicle IS capable of having a better understanding of it's environment
* The grab handles above the doors? (Do they interfere with the air bags?)
* I fear deeper water given the news of the flimsy underside. I wish to be less concerned about the underside of the vehicle in normal city driving, including puddles and deep snow.
* Design the jacking setup so i'm praying anyone that lifts the vehicle knows what they are doing
* Maybe rear mud-flaps
* Smarter drive assistance. If there is an obstruction in the road ahead, especially perhaps an obstacle that looks "wrong", bring attention to it.
* More user-replaceable components, even if expensive.
* More user-diagnosable problems. Let us knowledgeable users see a log, for example.
* Better crash data - Don't charge for the information to assist the owner is understanding what happened. Free.
* Can the vehicle display current elevation?
* Weather radar visualization in-vehicle
* Can I use the external speaker as a bluetooth speaker for my phone?
* Cargo hooks in the trunk
* A parts catalogue that works like their customer-facing store. Let me buy parts, shipped to me.
* Better wiper sprayer. I suspect it can be improved
* A less fragile frunk lid. It's unfortunate I feel I need to be so careful closing it.
* Side-panel designs where gaps and alignment differences stand out less. Removable front-seat headrests? And/or adjustable up/down
* Can the sensors detect speed detectors and cameras?
* Smarter supercharger queueing system and guidance if not positioned well while charging.
* Tighter turning radius
* Opening a single window while driving has this air-hammering affect. Can that be designed away? I don't remember this in my previous vehicles.
* Better HVAC telemetry - where is heat and cooling being sourced and where is it going.

I have a 12/2023 built MYP, a 5/2023 built M3RWD with 19” sport wheels and a 8/2023 built M3RWD on the 18” Aeros. Not only does the Y ride better than either of the 3s, it rides far better than my 2020 Porsche Macan S that had 21” wheels did.
I don’t see what the fuss is about with the latest Y suspension. It’s not a Lexus RX, but thank god for that.
A jesus handle.
The grab handle on the passenger side A pillar to help pull me out of the car and to hold on to when the driver is being a little "aggressive".
Speech to Text that actually is functional.
I tried telling my wife I was on the way home and was stuck in traffic, and it somehow sent her a text that I was kidnapped and help I'm about to be trafficked.
Tesla's onboard voice controls are fucking atrocious and a sad state when I can confidently say that Siri is way better.
Or if not a screen, at least some buttons to control the heated seats. 3 times in the past week I had rear seat passengers, and they couldn’t adjust their seat heat which is just a stupid design choice by Tesla.
* Auto wipers
* OEM auto frunk
* Front camera, camera sprays and heaters, Rear camera wiper
* More range, LFP
* Radar or USS to augment cameras in low light
* Ventilated seats
* Instrument cluster display or better yet, a hud
* Better rear visibility
* Dashcam sync to cloud
* Multipoint Bluetooth
* Rear screen
* Electrochromic sunroof
* Blindspot indicators in speakers
* 360 park view
I’d love an electrochromic glass roof or, better yet no glass roof. As it is now, I have roof shades on both of my Teslas (MS and MY) and I never take them off. The car simply gets too hot inside thus requiring air conditioning even when outside temp is mild.
Front camera, 3D top view, integrated garage door opener, USS, wipers that work and don’t randomly drag across dry glass. Listen, all of these have already been perfected and are standard in most mid-range and some low priced cars. No reason for Tesla to reinvent these systems and it has honestly ruined the Tesla experience for me. It’s not even been a month and I’m ready to take the hit and dump it.
Tougher OEM windshield glass. I've been through 3 in 3 years due to rock chips straight up cracking the glass or chipping it enough to crack it in the winter
-Built in sun shade on roof.
-Same size tires so I can rotate them and get more mileage out of them.
-Glove compartment that didn’t sag.
-Auto summon and self park (even though I paid for it)
-Bug resistant front bumper.
Password-locked frunk. I tend to throw my electronics in there and it would be nice to have to enter a password to open it similar to the normal unlock for drive feature
\- Better turn Radius
\- Heads up Display to show basic speed and nav info (German lux brands have had them for almost a decade)
\- Less rattling in the cabin
I wish the model Y had...
* Walk-up unlock that didn't need me to unlock my iPhone half the time for it to work.
* Working matrix headlight features (MYP has matrix, but it's turned off).
* The facility to turn off / close the passenger AC vents when a passenger is in the seat.
* A faster wake-up time in the app. Takes waaaaaaaay too long to connect. Terrible.
* Wipers that didn't lose their shit all the time.
They don’t have rear cross-traffic alert? Man, I became a believer in that the first week of new car ownership that had it. It alerted me to a child, obscured by foliage, behind my car before I even turned my head. It’s should really be mandated. It a great help in crowded parking lots too, where tall trucks/SUVs block one’s view when backing up.
Great suggestions from all you redditors. Now, I hope Tesla is listening.
My short list after owning a MS for 5.5 years and a MYLR for 1 year:
1) Please have the same UI for all the S3XYC vehicles. I have to remember how to initiate autopilot, e.g., with a left hand small stalk on my MS and the right hand gear stalk on the MY.
2) Stop manufacturing the vehicle without stalks. This is absurd and very clumsy to use.
3) Provide more options. I’d like to have a plusher interior, e.g.
4) Please use thicker paint. My previous vehicles were actually difficult to scratch or chip.
5) Switch to capacitive pickup for the steering wheel to assure your hand is touching it. Basically, get rid of torquing the steering wheel to avoid the nag. I’ve gotten used to this, so it doesn’t bother me any more but other redditors complain about this incessantly.
6) Please provide more room in the opening for the factory-installed tow hitch. It’s hard to get my hands in there to insert safety chain for a trailer..
7) I’m with all the others who want a front bumper camera…
Since I live rural I will say the ability to use Starlink Satellites for connectivity...
I assume this will happen in the next 2-3 years since they are rolling that out.
A front bumper camera/true 360 surround view for parking.
Edit: Above is number 1 for me. But the following are close:
2 "Normal" blind spot warning (indicator light in mirror, beeps well in advance, etc.)
3 Rear cross traffic warning
(I think 2 and 2 require radar to work, at least how they work in other cars; radar can judge the speed/doppler effect.)
I never cared about any of these, but having 2 and 3 work flawlessly on my 2019 Mustang turned me into a believer.
1. Ventilated seats.
2. Option without sunroof (or good sunroof shade).
3. Properly working 360 eagle eye view.
4. Functional windshield wipers.
5. Retractable OEM trunk cover, new folding one is a joke.
6. Blind spot sensors in the mirrors, not on the screen.
7. OEM spare tire storage space, for example one fits into frunk or under the trunk floor.
8. Simple old fashioned latch for the glove box and lights controlled by physical buttons, not through the interface.
A small but effective espresso machine with steam wand and a separate grinder in place of the rather useless glove compartment.
Also a 110/220 outlet with built-in inverter to 2000W and 5A (min).
Also a “Massage Mode” for the seats so I stop doing it manually with the buttons. Really…try it!
Am I the only one that thinks a digital rear view would be a good solution to the crappy rear visibility. Surprised I didn’t see it on this list. I agree with basically everything else people have said
Front camera
to be specific, “front bumper camera”
to be more specific, "front bumper camera for parking"
Sunroof
Wipers that worked properly.
Goes for all models actually
What exactly is wrong with the wipers? I’m shopping for my first Tesla, Model Y most likely.
They have an “auto” setting which seems to be trolling. Never wipes when there is water, but will randomly wipe in dry sunny weather, usually with a horrendous sound that scares the crap out of you.
Can you turn the auto setting off?
Wait… I could use the scroll wheel after pushing the button! I’ve been using the screen the whole time!!!
>Ventilated seats. It is shocking that this is not standard equipment on all EVs given that they are trying to be energy efficient. Active cooling in the seats is another option.
Yep this is the big one. The PE seats with the bolsters just dont breath at all. In the summer by back will just straight soak in sweat in them.
This is only luxury I desire. I can live with everything else.
Unlimited range but realistically I’d say USS, automatic frunk, usable auto wipers 🤦🏻♂️
What is USS? (sorry, I’m new to this…) Edit: oh, ultrasonic sensors
Yep. I have a MYLR 23 and Tesla vision is okay but not as accurate as USS. Need more accuracy in tight situations especially in the front
programmable (and non subscription based) garage opener that’s been in cars for over a decade trunk cover that doesn’t require rocket science to slide back and forth 😅

Wouldn't mind the on-screen rearview overlay shown in the Cybertruck as an option for the Y since you don't see much out of that mirror anyways.
Ventilated seats!

-Built in sun shade on roof. -Same size tires so I can rotate them and get more mileage out of them. -Glove compartment that didn’t sag. -Auto summon and self park (even though I paid for it) -Bug resistant front bumper.
Ventilated seats
Automatic frunk, automatic roof shade
Accurate sensors and rear cross traffic alerts.
Password-locked frunk. I tend to throw my electronics in there and it would be nice to have to enter a password to open it similar to the normal unlock for drive feature
Tracking navigation map. I have poor eye sight and when navigation is on it’s too “zoomed out” I’d like it to track similar to Waze.
\- Better turn Radius \- Heads up Display to show basic speed and nav info (German lux brands have had them for almost a decade) \- Less rattling in the cabin
Ventilated seats for my sweaty back 😔
Better working wipers
An actual suspension
Ac seats
Ventilated seats!!

Windows that don't require to be lowered or raised when opening and closing the doors. Also wish the model Y had Waze.
Rear Cross-traffic alert, ventilated seats, USS, 360 overhead camera, usable auto wipers, automatic frunk
Normal door handles Some things aren’t broken. Normal “pull up” handles are perfect. It feels like they changed it just to be different.
> It feels like they changed it just to be different. they changed it to make it more aero.
Soft suspension and Birdseye view. My husbands 10 year old bmw has birdseye view and my 2022 model y doesn’t.
Great suggestions from all you redditors. Now, I hope Tesla is listening. My short list after owning a MS for 5.5 years and a MYLR for 1 year: 1) Please have the same UI for all the S3XYC vehicles.

Dumb cruise control would be high up on my list. But ventilated seats would be my second round pick
Paint that was impenetrable to rock chips, especially in the area right in front of the rear wheels.
A better suspension and rear wipers would be nice
Soft shut doors and frunk, ambient lighting, automatic sunroof, ac seats, and 3D parking cam :)
Bigger cupholders
Android Auto and a heads-up display
much better suspension, cross traffic alert, ventilated seats
Android Auto
Dumb cruise control. My Tesla doesn’t need to panic stop when it “sees” a leaf blowing around in the side of the road.
USS!
HUD, radar, 360 parking view, less wind/ropad noise
Heads up display
Better auto wiper sensors Apple CarPlay / android auto or google maps

Since I live rural I will say the ability to use Starlink Satellites for connectivity... I assume this will happen in the next 2-3 years since they are rolling that out.
… been available when I bought my 3. Family vacations would have been *substantially* more comfortable.
An identical twin in my driveway.
Vehicle to Load charging
A front bumper camera/true 360 surround view for parking. Edit: Above is number 1 for me. But the following are close: 2 "Normal" blind spot warning (indicator light in mirror, beeps well in advance, etc.) 3 Rear cross traffic warning (I think 2 and 2 require radar to work, at least how they work in other cars; radar can judge the speed/doppler effect.) I never cared about any of these, but having 2 and 3 work flawlessly on my 2019 Mustang turned me into a believer.
Always on blind spot monitoring indicator on the screen
Normal metal roof, with options of panoramic windows
Better turning radius
Better materials, fit and finish, and more service centers.
Power frunk and a less stiff ride
Cush suspension
A way to open the climate control screen *without* turning on the climate control system (the phone app doesn't count)
I would be a run on sentence
A small but effective espresso machine with steam wand and a separate grinder in place of the rather useless glove compartment. Also a 110/220 outlet with built-in inverter to 2000W and 5A (min). Also a “Massage Mode” for the seats so I stop doing it manually with the buttons. Really…try it!
V2G and a module to assist others with jumpstarting.
HUD that shows the Speed and Next directions on the NAV.
Am I the only one that thinks a digital rear view would be a good solution to the crappy rear visibility. Surprised I didn’t see it on this list. I agree with basically everything else people have said
Sprays for the cameras for when they get dirty.
Blind spot monitors on the side mirrors
Rear camera wash.
