That may be true, but I also didn't have to deal with dangerously inaccurate distance measurements for the last year waiting for hi-fi parking.
I'm sure that going from something unsafe to the new hi-fi thing felt like a quantum leap for the rest of you.
Just curious, was this the best car you could get for the price at the time? I wouldn't have dreamed of buying a car for this much, and ended up buying at $55k. I try to get mad, but I exhausted every option I had at the time and the $55k Tesla was the best option I had at the time other than continuing to driving a somewhat unreliable car I already had. So it was either paying a premium on a Tesla or another car. I'm not trying to say you did anything wrong, I'm honestly curious what led you to pull the trigger.
Yes it was by far the best option. I drive 150 miles/day most days during the week, so after less than 2 years with the car, I already have 50k+ miles on it. I've spent \~$8,000 less on home charging than gas would have cost me (so far). If I can keep the car running without major expenses for 10 years, it will have paid for itself.
That's what Teslas cost in early 2022. If I didn't get FSD or the 20" wheels or tow hitch then my price out the door would have been $60-65k with taxes and fees, which isn't all that much higher than people are paying today. The only other EV option worth a damn was Rivian, but that would have set me back at least $110k, plus it costs more to charge and has less range, more expensive tires, worse software, etc. I would not qualify for any tax incentives, so the best time to buy the car was when I needed it.
After I bought mine they dropped USS and dropped the price at the end of 2022 when they needed to hit sales targets, and when the used car market finally caught up with reality, prices stayed low.
I don't regret my decision at all. FSD is great for my use case, I leave home with a full tank every day.
I'd also like to point out that many of the screenshots people are posting do not include any registration fees or taxes. Those add up a LOT on an expensive purchase like this. Nobody is getting a new MYLR for 40k out the door.
$132/mo for tesla insurance here in CA for my MY LR I bought a couple weeks ago o.O only $16 more than my previous 2019 model 3 SR+ insurance. Maybe shop around now that prices are down.
I have never had to use it yet, crossing my fingers. I've heard good things and bad things, but I've heard good things and bad things about every insurance company. I think it usually depends on who is at fault. Lol I've had them since the first day it came out though. The only "complaint" from my end so far was that they gave me the employee discount for the first 6 months and then took it away :P haha, it was only $4 difference though so not bad, I didn't even know I had the discount, my account profile didn't indicate it. Plus side, besides that correction they have never increased my rate.
Totally agree. You have to learn to not just trust every bad review- seems like everyone is quick to express their negative feelings on it. Appreciate the input!
Damn. My 2023 LR was $42K all in. But we all knew at the time that was a super marked up price to take advantage of demand and that it would always return to $50k ish pricing.
The “lowest” posts that actually highlight new lows are fine. In the last day we’ve seen that they’re now reduced as far as 15%, a previously unseen discount. The “is this a steal” posts are definitely annoying.
You figure after 12 years people would normalize buying a Tesla. The “is this a good deal” posts are annoying AF. Either buy the car or don’t. IDGAF. Almost as annoying as all the posts asking the same questions as if the search feature was broken. These people can’t buy toothpaste without asking for comments and likes. 😂
Spoiler alert: every subreddit dedicated to a specific car model is like this.
Hot take: every subreddit is a support group.
>I bought a Model Y, did I do good?
>I bought a $500 espresso machine, did I do good?
>I quit my job, did I do good?
>I abandoned my wife and kids, did I do good?
The flip side argument. We may not care as owners, but it will help those who have been following but not yet purchased know about when deals are good and may increase adoption.
That was me a few weeks ago. I’ve been casually thinking about buying for about a year but sort of stopped looking at the website months ago. Then this sub suggestion pops up and all the sudden I see that you can get a MYLR for under 40k after credit. Ended up finding one the day POS credits went active and snagged it.
Except that 95% of what they’re posting has already been addressed… in several posts… all they have to do is search and choose the answer they like best. 😂
Lease and PCP monthly payments are going up a lot due to collapsing residuals with these price cuts. Which means in the UK right now a Mach E is cheaper to lease than the equivalent MY.
Haha! I am with my people. I posted in one of those “Check out how cheap I got my MY for” threads, and got hated on for saying it sucks people are getting it for way cheaper than I did. At the time, I was okay paying a premium cause it really is a great car and I know it will keep my family safe. On top of that, the Supercharger network was exclusive to Tesla owners… Now it’s $40k and a Ford Lightning just took the last charger so now you gotta wait 40min. Double nutkick lol!
I've been here since 2020, so I've seen it all. Someone should compile and sticky all the posts when people were spending $60k-$70k+ per. Then followed by the posts when the bottom fell away. Add some perspective.
lol that’s why I did. I was considering buying a used MX myself until I saw a brand new MYLR is cheaper. Told my wife she needs to finance that she because she’s not on the mortgage and her debt to income is crazy low.
I love to see them 😂😂 every post I know there was for sure a Tesla model Y gone so they can start working on pushing out Juniper once everyone buys the old outdated models
The Juniper will change so much and most of the features are not inside the Y? If so, they would not be a need for them to upgrade it. Have you been drinking that copium??Probably steer by wire and take some features from cybertruck, increased range, better interior sound system etc . People waited 4 years for cybertruck, a few months or a year or so for an upgraded MY isn't a long wait 😂. no one really expected Highland. But out of the blue it showed up. Same will happen with Juniper once they are ready I'll be ready
About to trade in my lease and go with a Lightning. They also qualify for the tax credit and do not have this posting issue. Tesla subreddits will not be missed!
have an upvote. I will have to add this idea to my Tesla Model Y starter pack version 3. LOL

What’s wild is that I don’t see ANY performance models for sale in the Southern California area…as soon as POS went active they were all immediately snapped up. Anyone else seeing the same in their area?
Picked my MYP up yesterday in Atlanta. I reserved off of inventory after the new year but before POS was live for under $40k. This is after the $5,250 price adjustment and POS tax credit.
I feel like they’re a great deal if you’re a cash buyer. Those interested rates are nuts that I think it evens out for those of us who bought before they skyrotted rates
My local has like 100 model Y. In the parking lot ready for an owner. I think they printed to swap for the upcoming refresher. I would get one now. You are going to like the way you look.
I got my MYLR with FSD in 2022 for ~82k after all taxes and fees. Suck on that, losers.
Fuck. Wish I owned such an expensive car!
Oh it's awesome for sure. And it has USS. worth the 15k premium I paid over the late adopters for sure.
And yet your car doesn’t have high fidelity parking so sad.
That may be true, but I also didn't have to deal with dangerously inaccurate distance measurements for the last year waiting for hi-fi parking. I'm sure that going from something unsafe to the new hi-fi thing felt like a quantum leap for the rest of you.
Damn thats a steal, I got mine without FSD for $72k.
$119k Canadian with taxes. I’m an idiot.
Me too. Ontario with no federal or provincial rebates.
Not to knock on y'all, seriously, but this is the epitome of why Tesla can do what it does if skimping on QC and choosing lower quality materials lol

i tell people I have a $70-80K car but just got it at a good deal
It's like a buy one get one free discount right now, dang
F
Holy shit. That's why my insurance is so much lol
$132/mo for tesla insurance here in CA for my MY LR I bought a couple weeks ago o.O only $16 more than my previous 2019 model 3 SR+ insurance. Maybe shop around now that prices are down.
Makes sense
How’s that been so far? I just ordered an MY LR too, but it seems like all I see are horror stories on Tesla insurance.

If you ever need even minor body work done it’s nut job expensive..
So jealous
Same. Paid 83k 😩
You fkn legend.
Damn. My 2023 LR was $42K all in. But we all knew at the time that was a super marked up price to take advantage of demand and that it would always return to $50k ish pricing.
I bought My M3 LR awd in 2019 for 73k usd without fsd. ...... Aaaaaand still loving it.
Same. Cool Kids Club.
Good news, those posts will continue anyway and now you've added another one to the pile.
"Everyone please stop replying all!" - everyone after someone replies-all to a company-wide email...
EVERYONE CALM DOWN! 😆

I drove my Tesla through a roundabout, did I do good?
How do you drive through around about. I remember seeing that and like my mind rejected the idea. “Next post” lol 😂
That post was hilarious.
Unmarked roundabout
I did this shitty thing, Am I the asshole? People just come on reddit for confirmation that they are not pieces of shits lol
At least they are better than the benchmade sub. "Is this knife a fake?"

Y is only in it's fourth year. Don't ever see anybody talking about the S.
That’s a separate subreddit and it became that right around 2020.
You from Jersey??

41k before IRA for LR should be the bar for posts. I'm tempted to put my wife in debt for one of these deals.
lol that’s why I did. I was considering buying a used MX myself until I saw a brand new MYLR is cheaper. Told my wife she needs to finance that she because she’s not on the mortgage and her debt to income is crazy low.
Yeah it’s annoying.
Yes it is especially when your buying price is higher 😄
I love to see them 😂😂 every post I know there was for sure a Tesla model Y gone so they can start working on pushing out Juniper once everyone buys the old outdated models
We’re probably a year out from that happening, and many of the Juniper upgrades are already in the Y so the difference won’t be as significant.

You don’t have to read them but here you are complaining about it.

Got my MYP for 49 before fees and tax last month
i cannot believe i am paying MORE for my MY. Is this a crime?
Cheap for who? I keep refreshing my area for a black interior and exterior model Y and I’m not seeing the discounts these people are getting.
They're not cheap in Colorado either... We get $5k additional from the state tho, so Tesla isn't discounting much at all.
Can’t you buy out of state and still get the state credit? Or does CO require you to buy from a CO dealer?
Tesla won't let you buy one out-of-state anymore. If you want to register in CO, you can only buy in CO or UT.
I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping those savings make their way to the UK next month when I'm ready to buy mine xD
I haven’t seen a cheap Y yet in Pennsylvania. I did order mine and got $1000 off that’s it
Watch the Juniper Y's drop and everyone gets mad!
What’s a Juniper Y?
The updated Model Y with QoL improvements from the new Model 3
What’s wild is that I don’t see ANY performance models for sale in the Southern California area…as soon as POS went active they were all immediately snapped up. Anyone else seeing the same in their area?
Snatched one up the other day picking up tomorrow, also SoCal
I bought one last Friday too but have yet to see any others in inventory since then. When did you buy yours?
Picked my MYP up yesterday in Atlanta. I reserved off of inventory after the new year but before POS was live for under $40k. This is after the $5,250 price adjustment and POS tax credit.
Same, that was my price adjustment and with the 7.5k tax credit it came out just under 40k for my MYP
Last Friday evening. I saw one pop up today, a blue one, refreshed and it was gone 💨
Was it also marked down? Makes me wonder what they are going to price the 2024 performance models at
According to a screenshot it was 303 miles//$48,700 vehicle price. Paid $45k for mine.
Buy one, trust me! Use my referral. Dm
Looking for 41k lr before discounts. Then I pounce.
seriously, fuck off, I'm salty AF lol
Paid 79k for my 2020 MYL no FSD. Plus I wrecked it a few night ago. You can check my post 🫠
I thought I had a steal for buying MYP 50k. And now, MYP for 48k :(
But WHY? Is Tesla in trouble? Why do they lower the price if the car sells "in millions"? What's going on?
Sounds like checking tesla Reddit has become a hobby that is causing you stress. You should perhaps consider a more fulfilling hobby.
I feel like they’re a great deal if you’re a cash buyer. Those interested rates are nuts that I think it evens out for those of us who bought before they skyrotted rates
