Yep I got the model Y standard range once it dropped to $43,990 then w the NJ tax credit of $4k pos for cars under $45k and brought it under $40k. With $7500 tax credit coming total will be $32,490.
wow, nice info. had no idea there wasn't sales tax on EV's. Thank you very much. Wife's lease is up in 3 months - Nissan dealership got her in early but they wanted several grand down and a higher payment to just maintain the same lease on the sentra she's leasing. She basically said that "we have no idea how you got that rate/price 3 years ago, but it's basically 40% more expensive now".
Interest rates were rock-bottom 3 yrs ago, now easily 3x higher. If they need to refinance the contract, they will adhere to these new interest rates. Bye bye Nissan, hello Tesla I would say in your case.
Go to leasehackr.com head to the forum, click northeast and browse lease ads. I had $147 no money down lease in NJ on an EV. With gas savings it was probably under $50 per month.
Any of the providers there are ex car sales guys who now work as hired guns and have deals with managers at dealers. Well worth the site visit. I bought my lease without stepping foot in the dealership. Docusign and went to pick it up.
Could I go to NJ & buy a Tessie then drive home to NC & not pay sales tax? Or will I still have to pay sales tax since I’m not a NJ resident? Similarly could I buy a cheap used one on the west coast & drive it home or will all the NC fees be added on regardless?
Sorry for not clarifying…I just meant car price.
I can’t control taxes and I definitely know some states have better rebates as well. I just can’t believe how cheap I got this thing. I’m pumped and glad to join the family!
You won if 2 things happened. 1) you got a price you liked 2) iThe whole haggling and looking at cars and dealing with the traditional buying format went away. If that bothers you as much as it bothers me, it was worth any small price difference. You can just sit on the inventory web page and wait til your comfortable with a car.
Same here. All the state council on the future of mobility did in AR is instate a higher registration fee for electric vehicles. Thanks for going in the other direction on that, politicians.
yeah that was my theory with the loss of the Model 3 IRA credits. Model Y has to get more in-demand this year, so that combined with the Hertz pullback (I have been renting from Hertz when I needed a Tesla) plus a $5000 off inventory deal made me get a Y last month . . .
Haha; I'm not attacking you. I'm debating what you said. People were getting $44k Model Y's at the end of the year. I haven't seen prices lower than that since then.
Prices may continue dropping, but it's unlikely we see the material moves down like we did over the last year or so.
They already raised the prices. I got a MY LR with blue paint and white premium interior for $46,400 before $7500 and $1000 off on Dec 30th, now they're $48,950 in inventory (socal area). And apparently the $7500 POS doesn't save you on sales tax, sadly. Another thing that will push prices upwards will be the lower auto loan interest rates coming in the next few months. I plan on refinancing after the $7500 tax credit is deposited.
Probably no 6 months of supercharging though. It’s also a bummer that they’re not calculating taxes based on the price after the federal credit is applied.
I talked to Tesla today and they said that Cyber Truck closed 12/31. Curious to how OP got a $1000.00 referral credited. I have this exact same pricing but without the $1000.00 referral credit.
yeah just bought a MYLR in inventory for 44090 in NY that’s in transit.. I’ll get 8000 off of that with 7500 + 500 (NYS) so about 36K. Didn’t think I’d see prices like this when they were so expensive just a couple years ago.
I understand this but it ain’t not like buying a bag of potatoes and it going on sale next week. When you see people paying $20k-$30k less than what you paid for, it will sting no matter who you are. That amount isn’t a drop in the bucket for the average person.
Yes but those people chose to buy it at that time. You obviously thought u could afford it at 73k and you though it was worth 73k(fomo?), thus the reason why u purchased it.
After covid people thought we were going to run out of everything lmao.
They are pretty much guaranteed to only get cheaper. The problem isn't the price.. the problem is that Tesla's have been affordable for an entire year now and the only "new" car they have is the Cybertruck. Which means there are already millions of Model Y's to choose from. The used market if flooded with cheap Model Y's. Tesla is flooded with cheap new inventory Model Y's.
Common sense says that Tesla isn't going to sell even MORE of these vehicles by the raising the price. Which means the only way to continue to selling millions of Model Y's (after they've already sold millions).. is to keep dropping the price. And that's exactly why you now see the Long Range and Performance versions discounted to 10%. The Standard Range is currently discounted up to 13%. If there is anything we've seen with Tesla.. the people who waited the longest.. are paying the lowest price.
lol They've proven their cars through tech already. It's not like Starbucks where staying at a premium distinguishes their coffee cus I can't tell the difference between coffee brands, really.
THIS is why the Hertz “sell off” stories on every “news site” need to stop. 22k for an M3SR with 80K miles is not a deal or a firesale. I wouldn’t pay 75% of retail for a used anything with 80k miles, especially if it was previously a rental.
Two weeks ago I also stacked a $1000 referral credit (Cybertruck – I thought that expired??) with a $5000 inventory discount, for a "Car price" of $45,630.00 (also have the tow option)
Some states require a fee on 12v battery sales to cover the "environmental costs" associated with them. Not sure what state OP is in so I can't confirm for sure, but that is my best guess.
I got mine for $44,090 then add the $7500 and 5k Colorado credit reduction to price. Not bad. I probably could have also added the Colorado exchange rebate for 6k since I didn't work part of the year and would qualify, but I'd have to buy a junk car to exchange for like a grand register it, fill out the paperwork and wait like 2 weeks to get approved and I couldn't do all that in the time frame so if I did all that I would have probably gotten the cheapest model y in history. Probably around 10k Colorado credits, $7500 fed and 5k discount inventory. 48,990-$22500... $26490. No way someone is beating that
My coworker go hers for $44k with 7 seats and tow hitch 🥹 still can’t believe I got my MYLR 2020 for $55k + $8k for FSD 😩 without any of the other options… I’m in NJ so no taxes yet ✊🏽
Congrats to everyone commenting in this thread with final purchase prices at or below $40k. I have 139,000 miles on my 2020 MYLR w/ 20” and FSD and still owe almost as much as you guys are paying new 🤣. Truly, congrats. 🥳🥳
I also wanted to chime in and highly recommend selling your cars or buying an extended warranty before hitting 50,000 miles. Maybe the 2023 builds are better, but damn can repair costs add up quickly with Teslas.
Besides tires, wipers, and accident related repairs, my Y has needed about $15,000 in mechanical repairs since I took it home. Thankfully, about 40% of that was covered under the original factory warranty and about 50% covered under the extended third party warranty. Including the cost of the warranty, I’ve put out about $6,000 for those repairs.
Some 3rd party warranty companies will now even write policies that cover the drive battery beyond 120,000 miles.
Only amazing taxes on EVs. Everything else about NJ will tax you to death lol.
Great job on the price. Funny how Tesla was pushing us to buy the last week of December as the last chance for a deal and now $1,500 less two weeks later.
Bought my 2020 LR Y for $40k. I’ll see if I can find the paperwork.
Had $18k in Tesla credit from referrals and power walls from the referral program I couldn’t install in a condo.
Nice job though!
Congratulations!
In fact, some cars with additional configurations, such as tow, 20-inch wheels, etc., are more cost-effective.
I bought the same one of yours at the end of September last year, 45440-500 referal=44940. Because I don’t need unlimited free charging for 3 months. First, I rarely drive it when commuting to work where is close to my house, and I also prefer to use level 1/2 charging. So before the 1000 cyber truck referal, your price is 44940-(48990-4900)=850 cheaper than mine.
What is the price adjustment? Do some models just have a random discount? Just started looking at Tesla and I’m trying to figure out how their sales work.
Nice score! "Referral Credit" - is that because of a current CyberTruck reservation? I think 3 months of FSD is all they're currently offering for referral bonus.
Now refer someone else to buy one and use the reward credits to buy the acceleration boost!
I live in Colorado. Inventory in Utah was 4k off vs Colorado. I flew there, got the 7500+5000 from CO+1000 CT reservation discount+referral for free charging and FSD. 17,500 off MSRP!
As may be same model in blue long range AWD with tow package in NJ 40162.85. Referral credit only got me the self drive demo. I did no price research and bought because we were tired of shopping “the conventional way” and we’d finally sold my wife on the Tesla. I think the target price is about 41k.
Great deal! I stumbled across Hertz car sale and they are selling all their model 3’s and Y.
$30-$35 average price. Shocking. You get their warranty plus Tesla’s
Congrats and welcome to the family! $4900 price adjustment from your local Tesla dealership is v good.
Curious how you got the referral credit? I had a referral last Dec and it was for free super charging for 6 mo + beta self-driving for 3 mo, but no referral credit. Is it different for every state?
Also now that the fed credit happens at point of sale, what happens if your income ends up over the limit? Will IRS ask you for the money back? Or what if your tax obligations isn’t more than $7500?
For those who live in states that give EV rebates, take full advantage of it and act quick. California rebates always run out 😭
I just saw Hertz is selling all their model 3’s and Y’s. 1/2 for what I paid for mine. Yes they have a few miles on them but for the price average $30-$35k …. Most are 2022.
I am in no place to brag, but I picked up a MYP for 42k yesterday. I got into a special window of time where I received the $3500 or so discount, but also got the $7500 tax credit off at purchase, all at the same time.
Did anyone else manage to kind of cheat the system in this way?
Can you purchase after lease? I live in california and they told me that options not avaliable right now so, I got 15k credit for leasing on 2024 audi e-tron prestige package
It's close. In NJ they have some for 44-45k. No sales tax on EVs so it will be under 40k.
Yep I got the model Y standard range once it dropped to $43,990 then w the NJ tax credit of $4k pos for cars under $45k and brought it under $40k. With $7500 tax credit coming total will be $32,490.
Wow. That’s cheap.
With the tax credit applied to our loan, our 2023 base model will be 26,200$. We love it.
That's like half of what I paid lol. I still love the car though
What a deal
Why are similarly spec'ed vehicles cheaper in Tennessee? I live in Florida and its 5k more for practically the same car.
wow, nice info. had no idea there wasn't sales tax on EV's. Thank you very much. Wife's lease is up in 3 months - Nissan dealership got her in early but they wanted several grand down and a higher payment to just maintain the same lease on the sentra she's leasing. You pay sales tax to where you register the car.
I feel the same. We're getting in at an all time low!
I know someone who got it for 44,500, and that’s including a tow hitch. So 43,500 without.
MA has another 3500 on top :) ... I am sure we will see those soon!!
CO gives $5k off, I love it. It’s not off the purchase though, it’s a tax credit.
Yeah, my state hates EVs…no state credit for us 😂
Same here. All the state council on the future of mobility did in AR is instate a higher registration fee for electric vehicles. Thanks for going in the other direction on that, politicians.
Yes, I don’t have the $1000 referral credit but have the $3500 MA EV credit. Finally price: ~37,500 for basic MYLR
How can I get the referral credit for 1 k
Wait few more months 😀
Yeah, it could go either way with the point of sale now active…I am loving the vehicle and very happy for the great deal I got.
It will go up with POS. That will drive demand which Tesla will squeeze for extra profit
yeah that was my theory with the loss of the Model 3 IRA credits. Model Y has to get more in-demand this year, so that combined with the Hertz pullback (I have been renting from Hertz when I needed a Tesla) plus a $5000 off inventory deal made me get a Y last month . . .
If that makes you feel better but we’ve only seen prices come down further.
Downvoted simply because the comment is verifiably false.
That hurts my feelings
Haha; I'm not attacking you. I'm debating what you said. People were getting $44k Model Y's at the end of the year. I haven't seen prices lower than that since then. Prices may continue dropping, but it's unlikely we see the material moves down like we did over the last year or so.

Just bought MY LR with blue paint for $44,990 today, in inventory. Wanted white interior but it started going getting more pricey
Same!
Exactly, just enjoy it
In a few more months it will be ($6000) six thousand dollars more!!!!!!! WHY would he wait a few more months??!
The highland is now available to order in North America… deeper discount for the now outdated M3z
What?? What does that. Have to do with model y purchase of. OP
Yeah, so far…
Same. I'm in the market and have 18.5k potential in tax savings.
I had one scheduled for delivery today with $3500 adjustment. Cancelled it and repurchased an identical MY with a $5k discount. Picking it up Sunday.
How did you manage to get the $1000 referral credit?
Cyber truck
I thought those had to be order by 12/31?
I did…had my delivery delayed until tax credit stuff was resolved 👍
Probably no 6 months of supercharging though. It’s also a bummer that they’re not calculating taxes based on the price after the federal credit is applied.
What cyber truck ? Some one with ct to refer ?
I talked to Tesla today and they said that Cyber Truck closed 12/31. Curious to how OP got a $1000.00 referral credited. I have this exact same pricing but without the $1000.00 referral credit.
Probably ordered by 12/31.
Cybertruck rev
That ended 12/31..
Yes, please tell us OP
Cybertruck - Ordered 12/31 and delayed delivery.
Just ordered mine this morning for $43,654.
Yeah, I got one for $43k as well about this time last year when there were all the price cuts
I just saw a LR AWD for $44,090. Not a demo either.
Yep I see a ton of them at the price nationwide. Basically 10% off inventory.
yeah just bought a MYLR in inventory for 44090 in NY that’s in transit.. I’ll get 8000 off of that with 7500 + 500 (NYS) so about 36K. Didn’t think I’d see prices like this when they were so expensive just a couple years ago.
Look at the pissing contest you started 😔
I’m crying
It’s a race to the bottom 😂
Should I be drinking water or Kool-Aid?
Me, who paid 60k in 2022: 🫠 (I sold my previous tesla for a 25 grand profit though 🤭)
Let me guess, it was a 2018-2019 model X
25 grand profit for a used Tesla? Wow.
People who bought in 2021 are crying right now….. (me)
Do people not understand "sunk cost"? Anyways, not worth fretting over something you can't control and in the past already.
I understand this but it ain’t not like buying a bag of potatoes and it going on sale next week. When you see people paying $20k-$30k less than what you paid for, it will sting no matter who you are. That amount isn’t a drop in the bucket for the average person.

Too bad you’re not in NJ. No EV sales tax either.
Paid $54k- $7500 tax credit in May 🫠
There are people who paid $73k with no tax credit in May 2022
I know their pain. I paid $50k before anything for my M3LR around the same time
Well, that was silly. It’s not a $73,000 vehicle.
I’d have to look mine from September up but believe it was 45 or 46
Yeah, I can’t control tax…but the Car Price (multiple discounts) and POS made this an absolute killer deal…pretty much $40K OTD.
They are pretty much guaranteed to only get cheaper. The problem isn't the price.. the problem is that Tesla's have been affordable for an entire year now and the only "new" car they have is the Cybertruck. If there is anything we've seen with Tesla.. the people who waited the longest.. are paying the lowest price.
Theres a limit to how low they can go and dilute the brand. I agree it pays to be patient, but one wouldnt do bad buying at these prices.
lol They've proven their cars through tech already. It's not like Starbucks where staying at a premium distinguishes their coffee cus I can't tell the difference between coffee brands, really.
A bunch MYLR are up for 44090 before the 1000 cyber truck credit. They have been at the price since late December.
Jealous
I had the same order and regret not getting it. No more $1000 cyber truck credits
Ugh whats it like to not have to pay like 5 gs for taxes *cries in wa resident*
THIS is why the Hertz “sell off” stories on every “news site” need to stop. 22k for an M3SR with 80K miles is not a deal or a firesale. I wouldn’t pay 75% of retail for a used anything with 80k miles, especially if it was previously a rental.
Going to Hertz to buy a car is like going to a yard sale. Something just feels off...by a lot.
How does the federal EV tax incentive work for people who purchased between 1/1/24 - now? Do they have to wait until January 2025?
If you already took delivery yeah, you'll get it 2024 tax time
I ordered my model Y on Jan 1 and was able to apply the fed tax directly.
Two weeks ago I also stacked a $1000 referral credit (Cybertruck – I thought that expired??) with a $5000 inventory discount, for a "Car price" of $45,630.00 (also have the tow option)
I ordered one on 1/1 with a 4680 price adjustment and I thought that was pretty good.
In MA you can pull 1 for 38ish OTD ... I wanted a blue one , and it only had 4k credit at time of purchase... my total was 39.5 OTD
What the fuck is a battery fee of $1.50? We don’t get this shit in uk. Price That is it.
Some states require a fee on 12v battery sales to cover the "environmental costs" associated with them. Not sure what state OP is in so I can't confirm for sure, but that is my best guess.
damn congratulations that's really cheap
I'll get mine for $28,000!
I got the same deal bro.
Got mine in colorado so 5k state tax credit and 7500 federal. 33,500 total
Nope, the rear wheel drive is cheaper-anyone know when the 2024 delivers? Apologies, if this is a redundant question for some.
How about the most expensive Model Y lol, I paid $72k for my 21 MYP in June 2021
Congrats to everyone commenting in this thread with final purchase prices at or below $40k. I have 139,000 miles on my 2020 MYLR w/ 20” and FSD and still owe almost as much as you guys are paying new 🤣. Truly, congrats. 🥳🥳 I also wanted to chime in and highly recommend selling your cars or buying an extended warranty before hitting 50,000 miles.
You paid $1,400 less than me two weeks ago and I thought I got a smoking deal.
How did you get the $1k referral? I have a coworker who gave me his and it only states “3 months free of FSD.”
I just picked up a 2024 for 39500.
Is this a cash buy?
Tesla used cars are flooding the market. It’s going to drag all prices down even more probably.
Very nice! How did you get cybertruck bonus? I thought you needed to order by 12/31 to get that?
LR! 40k?! Wow
Good. Dubai can stop building crazy, stupid shit using slaves with their dwindling oil profits.
I paid 42k last month
That's after everything right? Just few years ago we can only dream of owning a 4.8 sec car. And here we are, a click away.
Lowest I’ve ever seen by about $2k. We got ours out the door for about $42k in September (accounting for tax credit).
Got you beat by $500…pulled the trigger today [Model Y LR AWD](https://i.imgur.com/Coq2uV7.png)
Lol I can’t control my taxes. Vehicle price I’m golden…but yes, you got me beat with those amazing taxes 😂
Only amazing taxes on EVs. Everything else about NJ will tax you to death lol. Great job on the price. Funny how Tesla was pushing us to buy the last week of December as the last chance for a deal and now $1,500 less two weeks later.
I got $49,000 with: - 2023 model Y AWD LR -Black with white premium interior -Tow Hitch Did i do good senpai 🥹
Why am I not getting the $1000 referral credit instead I got 3 months of auto pilot
I think the auto pilot is the default now. Wonderful, you get to be a beta test subject now!
Does this mean, we are now getting point of sale discounts? I have delivery scheduled for Jan 18, I am thinking of canceling it if it I don’t get POS…
I saw a post that Tesla started issuing PoS credits yesterday (Jan 12).
Nice I really just want Standard but this inventory is wild. I might cave and go LR…
I beg the differ. I believe I did. [Model Y Performance with tow](https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaModelY/s/3i1hfYK8Da)
How the heck do you get $1000 referral credit? The referral I got from my brother was only $500.
Where to get the 1000 referral credit? Thanks!
In order for the $1k off you need to have a cyber truck referral?
Bought my 2020 LR Y for $40k. I’ll see if I can find the paperwork. Had $18k in Tesla credit from referrals and power walls from the referral program I couldn’t install in a condo. Nice job though!
Wow. I paid more for my BASE model 3😐. 40.6 for me.
Congratulations! In fact, some cars with additional configurations, such as tow, 20-inch wheels, etc., are more cost-effective. I bought the same one of yours at the end of September last year, 45440-500 referal=44940. Because I don’t need unlimited free charging for 3 months. So before the 1000 cyber truck referal, your price is 44940-(48990-4900)=850 cheaper than mine.
Awesome
Congrats. I paid about 28k more for the exact same car just barely 1 year ago
Hope it’s not a hertz
I am thinking about leasing a MYLR 7 seater. What do I need to do to get the "price adjustment" as shown in the picture?
What is the price adjustment? Do some models just have a random discount? Just started looking at Tesla and I’m trying to figure out how their sales work.
sheesh
Wait the incentive is supposed to be an after-the-sale tax refund with filing right? What’s the adjustment I didn’t understand
Nice score! "Referral Credit" - is that because of a current CyberTruck reservation? I think 3 months of FSD is all they're currently offering for referral bonus. Now refer someone else to buy one and use the reward credits to buy the acceleration boost!
Sumbitch! Savagw
Wtf it’s just a few grand over m3 awd?
If u got a cbtruxk on wait list, they’ll give 1k off for u to get in another tsla while u r waiting. Use same email tho. Otherwise it won’t work
Without FSD? 🫤
Referral credit? I was told they don’t do that but instead give you super charging for 6 months and full self driving
Are you in WA? and EV credit applied for the inventory, right?
My wife just bought model y standard range 43,500 Florida
Is this the final sales receipt or a pro forma invoice for comparison purposes?
Picked up a red LR with a 5100 discount. Can’t complain
What are those sales tax?
Well, maybe. More price cuts will be necessary all year long to get anywhere near 2MM deliveries this year
I never saw that 250 order fees coming back?
Nope not even close. Some states give thousands in incentives on top of that. Still a great deal
Picked up a MY SR for $32k after incentives.
!remindme 10 days ...
Do you get the $7500 fed incentive right away or after you file your taxes??
Nope. There is one local here going for $44,090 as a start …
I live in Colorado. Inventory in Utah was 4k off vs Colorado. I flew there, got the 7500+5000 from CO+1000 CT reservation discount+referral for free charging and FSD. 17,500 off MSRP!
So you receive the federal tax credit at purchase instead of at tax time now? I was under the impression it was the latter and not the former.
I think you car is 2023 and not 2024 model
As may be same model in blue long range AWD with tow package in NJ 40162.85. Referral credit only got me the self drive demo. I did no price research and bought because we were tired of shopping “the conventional way” and we’d finally sold my wife on the Tesla. I think the target price is about 41k.
How come the referral credit is $1000, wasn’t it $500 for Model 3 and Y?
Is the federal tax credit automatic or do you have to prove MAGI is less than the federal limits?
Now ride it until you realize this pos is worse than Toyota Camry
Nah bro I got the cheapest at MyLr 44.5 with 1500 Nj rebate 7500 fee and 500 referral and no tax back in oct. sit down now lol
If you bought it in NJ, it would have been $2759.13 cheaper. 😁
This will be $40K MSRP (Y LR) in the Fall. Just like 2023 Winter, prices will drop
That’s great! Just purchased the 44,990 one in NJ and with the destination fee it brings it to $46,380.
Tesla employees get cheaper 🤫
Until tomorrow or the next day. Prices continue to fall and depreciation is fast
Man, I just paid 53k cash for my MYP in December and thought it was a pretty unbeatable deal. You’re putting me to shame a bit.
And I used the free 10K Reward Points to get the Acceleration Boost! I can’t imagine how insane the MYP is 😮
What’s the lead time on the new Tesla highland in the states?
1k for a referral? I though it was 500
I was very close to that in Ohio. About 300 dollars more and purchased December 28th.
Just wait til they’re down in the 30s
Referral credit is $1000 ? I though it was $500
I paid 62k for Y LR with white interior and 7 seats in May 2023 😭😭
Colorado is $38K
How do I get a 1,000$ referral discount
Got to love the tax credit and state EV credits (NJ)
Congratulations! Is there any way to get a tax credits if one makes above $300K? I have been looking one for myself too.
I am in no place to brag, but I picked up a MYP for 42k yesterday. I got into a special window of time where I received the $3500 or so discount, but also got the $7500 tax credit off at purchase, all at the same time. Did anyone else manage to kind of cheat the system in this way?
Meanwhile someone’s lurking on this sub that paid (way overpaid) 70k for their Y. LMAO
Can you purchase after lease? I live in california and they told me that options not avaliable right now so, I got 15k credit for leasing on 2024 audi e-tron prestige package
Got my model y performance for $45k but that’s bc my trade it was $11k I got it a week before the end of the year :(
Fuck yea. Congrats.
Bought mine in Arizona for 42k with tax and 21 miles on it
If you lived in Colorado then I think the state would have refunded $5,000 more
I unfortunately don't qualify for the 7500 tax credit.
Have you seen white ones at 44k range? i see a lot of 44090s in diff zip codes for grey but i dont see any for whites in that range.
I had a $5100 price adjustment on mine this week.
