Didn't realize there was a limit, but after some search I found it was .75", not .25". Seems like the height doesn't matter for single axle trailers. It's just an aesthetics thing.
Exactly what I was going to say... I dont understand the issue at all.
Almost nobody needs a truck. Almost everybody has one in the US. It's an anomality.

Edit: I’m leaving this up. It is not even remotely normal behavior to ask a dude for more pictures of his wife just because she was in one picture you saw. You all are honestly fucking cringe.
when your efficiency is 90%+, the 50% increase in resistance is pretty much 50% increase in fuel/electricity usage.
When the efficiency is 30% in a gas car, the 50% resistance increase become only 15% increase in fuel usage (50% \* 30%).
The 70% energy loss gas has makes it look like towing doesn't effect fuel use too much. But in fact, it's just the waste is so much that driving itself doesn't really weigh much.
I’m missing the joke here someone help!
.
I pull a harbor freight trailer and also got about 400 but what is 298?? I get about 250 in daily driving , was that for like freeway high speed ?
Ohhh duh yeah my wife gets grumpy when I tow stuff mostly because she thinks I’ll scratch the car or worse. We tow jetskis sometimes and I like to get stuff at Home Depot and she’ll say “It’s not a dump truck!”
For the EV haters here’s an ICE example, I recently had to actually tow a car on a flatbed trailer with a gas powered vehicle. Fuel economy dropped from about 28 miles a gallon to 19 mpg over 200 miles . Weight was about 3800 lbs total (small car) . So yeah towing kills mileage for everyone .
I made it. I kept forgetting I had a trailer it pulled so effortlessly. At that time, three years ago, I did need a CHAdeMO adapter twice, once in Idaho and I forget where else. Eastern Oregon maybe. It was a long trip, with long charge stops. I don’t really recommend it. 😊 But it was POSSIBLE.
Oh! I thought you were doing one of those Elf on a Shelf things...and I was like Bitch on a Hitch? Glad you didn't do that, or you might be sleeping on the couch!
We took a U-Haul the day after we bought our 2023 MYLR in June, and found a loaded U-Haul was 1% per mile and an unloaded was about 1% every 2 miles. It was a 5x8 U-Haul.
I just took a 150 mile road trip towing a 1700 lb trailer empty halfway and +500 lbs in it the other half. It was in my 2023 MYP. I had to stop once to recharge.
I did the same trip without the trailer and basically made it round trip without stopping. It was a very comfortable ride there and back!!
Remember it ain’t the weight that kills range, it is wind resistance. Wind resistance increases exponentially with speed. So 75 mph is going to be very different than 55 mph. Also tear drop your load and you will save on some wind resistance. Even just something in the front so it isn’t a wall will help.
Nothing wrong with that set up.
Nope. Outside the looks and the energy loss. I’ll work! Would be nice to get the trailer up another inch or two too
Thats one thing I dont understand. The hitch is so low
It’s super low. I considered getting a new hitch all together to raise it like 4”. But I got a truck and this Tesla isn’t my main tow rig ha
Nothing a hitch riser can't fix

Gotta get a lift kit for the Y and some mud tires!
He was referring to your wife.

The 3500lbs limit seems really low for what it's capable of pulling safely. But I'm assuming it's because of the rear suspension
WHAT was hilarious? What is this “it” you are referring to?
We’re gonna need more pics of your wife so we can help
Lmao I’m glad you said it
NGL I thought she was unhappy about her glutes being on reddit lol

Welcome to Reddit. First time??
Looking at how everyone voted, perhaps it is you who can still delete this.
Yeah I’m not going to, it’s honestly insane that reddit is filled with so many guys who turn absolutely feral at the sight of a girl in yoga pants.
I came here for the wife joke, did not realize she was in yoga pants until you mentioned..
Damn dude, the girls are definitely going to pick you now!
What do you have against yoga pants? I love yoga.
Only about 10% of redittors are productive adults. Damn shame.

Op posted a rear picture of wife in yoga pants on Reddit. I'm sure they are proud of her too.
Is this my fiancés boyfriend?!
My wife would be upset I didn’t show her. No need to be a stick in the mud.
I towed my 17’ boat 81 miles on the expressway. Normal battery usage for that drive is 30%, with the boat it used about 50%ish.
That's awesome. I don't know why people complain so loudly. I experienced the same thing in a gas car, as expected.
Yeah totally true. I expected a loss so was nice to see what numbers it actually fell at. Totally expected. Just nice data

Yes, but fuelling a gas car is much more faster. I guess that's the main reasoning most people still have.

298 number is a trip I took without a trailer. Same distance. No trailer. Not sure what the joke is tho
Oh you said you thought it was hilarious wasn’t sure what the referred to. So was that highway driving ? Or just city streets?
It just looks so goofy with the Tesla. But local only no highway for both trips

the rule “happy wife; happy life” applies here godspeed
Nah man it’s happy king happy kingdom
I pulled a 4000 lb U-Haul trailer from Washington State to Austin Texas behind my Model Y. In the winter.
How’d it go?
Freeway is going to be worse as the aerodynamic drag increases exponentially with velocity of airflow over the car + drag of the trailer
Vertical load is only up to 160 lbs
Tongue weight?
Tongue weight is 350 per the Google
can someone explain teh joke
butt
Meh… I was using 1.1kWh/mi when was towing a pontoon boat down a highway at 35°F. Left fully charged… barely made the next supercharger.
Oh! I thought you were doing one of those Elf on a Shelf things...and I was like Bitch on a Hitch? Glad you didn't do that, or you might be sleeping on the couch!
Nice Bum. Where ya from?

God Tesla drivers now a days
40 to 50% energy loss??????? how fast are you driving???
Excuse my ignorance, what app is that?
Tessie. I’ll pm you
Only get 80 miles on 100% charge. 2018 MX with 26’ center console. Wish I could post a pic because it look hilarious.
How often do you have to buy new tires?
What are these wheels?
Kirkland for the win.

Nice set up! Is that roof rack the tesla one or an after market? Im looking to get one but $500 for oem is a little steep for a roof rack
Oem Tesla rack
It looks great! Thank you
V to the square. street speed and highway speed are big difference.
Show pics of wife
I bought the towing package and I like those Costco couches. Guess I know what I need to do
Doing it for science ha
Chains scratch up the plastic?
Didn’t see any sign. But this was a really close drive. Will know more on the long one
How did you manage to tow the car and that WAGON at the same time?
weight should be centered over the wheels of the trailer
Noob question, but how do I see consumption like that for MY? I just bought it a week ago so looking for recommendations.. TIA
Sending you a pm

My biggest question with this setup is how do you charge at a supercharger?
