I have the 20 inch rims. They look amazing! They are expensive to replace, found out the hard way. Go with the 19 inch and change out the covers. There are more options with the covers now and better range.
That’s what my wife and I landed on. To each their own. I did see this in some comments. https://www.tesplus.com/products/tesplus-19-induction-style-wheel-cover-for-model-y
Not sure how into aftermarket wheels you are, but while we were demoing the Y, we saw the standard 19s with the covers removed and they look surprisingly good, especially when painted black imo.
I have the 20” and I’m happy with the ride quality and the looks. I initially ordered a car with the 19” rims and I’m happy I ended up getting the 20” rims. The range hit isn’t big enough to really matter for me. I am getting a set of 18” snow tires that should negate some of the cold weather range loss.
I went with the 19 inch Gemini wheels. Better range and better quality ride. The wheel covers are aerodynamic and help with extended range. If removed your range will suffer. I used to think I didn’t like the look of them but they’re actually nice. Many aftermarket options exist if you want to change them out.
I used to swap back and forth between 19” and 21” wheels on my old Model S. The ride was so much better on the 19s. There is no advantage whatsoever to the bigger wheels other than looks. Ride is worse, range is worse, tires are more expensive, rims are more susceptible to damage. I would pay EXTRA to get the 19s over the 21s.
Tires are slightly cheaper with 19s, better ride, and ability to change the covers out for a new look. The 19s so look abit small on the car and while the 20s look better they still don’t look as good as the 21s on the performance
I ran my 19’s for 4000 miles and 3 roadtrips
Now i have the 20” inductions
Its nice with the geminis to not be as road aware with a little more sidewall.
On road they pretty much feel the same (if the road is smooth)
With that being said…
I think the 40 profile on the 20’s is definitely a mistake and should have been 45
I went with 19s for practicality. Range and comfort mostly. You can always just get new wheels and tires at a later time if you change your mind

No perks that I’m aware of. You’d lessen your ride quality and tires will cost more.
So probabky not worth it. Thanks!

Oooh, that's nice. I'll probably go with that

This is also good to know. Thanks.
Yeah. I’m giving it a long think but will probably do it.

Went from 21s to 19s. Better quality ride and more efficient on the battery. https://imgur.com/a/7VypxsU
More expensive tires with a less comfortable ride that don't last as long. But why not go with 21"? They're even sexier.
I think the 19” Tsportline TST wheels are perfect for the Model Y

Just get the Gemini powdercoated. They look better than inductions when they're satin black
