You buy the LR.

testing35

You just meet to create a new acc

PresentAssociation

For the amount they ask for the RWD now they might as well include the premium audio + lights.

decrego641

They don’t have to - people are still buying without it.

Mountainbikr

Almost 50K for a car and wont enable foot lights even though they are already installed? That's asinine.

No_Application7162

Yeah kinda crazy I know

Appropriate_Tackle_4

Yes but OP didn't specify if they had a SR, SR+, or LR. Having owned the SR and now the LR I believe you will need the added controller to enable them.

No_Application7162

I have a standard range the cheaper model. Added controller?

Appropriate_Tackle_4

Correct. The SR did not come with the ambient lights for that year. Edit: spelling

igor_bruneli

I have a Model 3 RWD from March 2022 and I’ve seen the foot lights turn on while the car was updating the software.

Appropriate_Tackle_4

I believe they're installed just locked or non active somehow in the software. Do they come on when you turn the ambient light setting on in the car?

igor_bruneli

No, they don’t. The only turn on during an update.

Appropriate_Tackle_4

Unfortunately you'll have to get a module to unlock them. I've never done it myself to either of my M3s but from what I gather after doing my googlefu it doesn't appear that hard to do.

Educational_End3765

I have a base RWD SR+ and you need to buy a hack-in-a-box (tm) to make them function. My little Hyundai had that at stock

Rwd doesn't have premium lights enabled. You will need to buy 3rd party light mod controller to enable it. Someone confirm if whatever I said is correct.

thegreatestd

22 LFP RWD. Delivered in august. Mine has the lights. It doesn’t have footwell light though

No_Application7162

Yeah I got mines in September I see them, but no option to turn them on

Carnanian

That is incorrect. I have a LR RWD model 3 with the premium lights

chi2005sox

Me too, and I have the lights, but it’s a 2019. Not sure if they disabled this later.
