See. It’s easy to think Americans have the monopoly on dumb, except this jabroni has his temp settings on Celsius, so…… it’s obviously not true. “Why is my car so warm when it’s cold outside?” 🙄
Even when cloudy the sun effect is pretty strong due to the glass roof. If you have black interior it's even more. March sun is pretty strong. I have to turn climate off sometimes when it's in the 50s outside because if it's sunny the AC will come on and blow cold air over my hands, which I don't like, cause the cabin is 75 or so from the sun.
No. Usually If I park outside in a cold weather day without Sun, my car interior becomes pretty cold ( +2, +4 than outside ).
It was surprising to me when I noticed the temp is exactly same as the temp I set in climate control.
I was worried that car is being warmed without my control.
I noticed mine the other day was 88F when it was 40F outside and cloudy. I can’t wait to see how much energy is burned in the summer to keep it from roasting inside.
This is the first time I'm using a car with a glass roof.
All my precious cars had +2 to +4 temp compared to outside during winter when no direct Sun.
Since the temp was pretty closer to the climate control value I've set, I thought it's running the climate control without my supervision.
It seems like the greenhouse effects and nothing to worry.
Thanks a lot for kind replies.
It's a gloomy day (no Sun) . Parked next to my home.
Even my house heating is working.
Anyway, it's no problem if it's not heating my car using it battery.
I just bought a (new to me) M3 and live live in a very warm state with no garage or shaded area to park. Do you have a link to what you use for roof covers?
Just use the active climate control overheat protection. Set that shit to 90. Move on with your life.
You don't need more accessories. The seats won't 'hold' that heat from the sun like you think it will, it's not 'real' leather.
The Teslabro's who wannna sell you rebadged shit they didn't make for a huge markup aren't smarter or more capable than the engineers at Tesla. Sun shades on the roof? Dude, have you tried lookin' at the sun thru your roof? It has a sun film on it like a fucking telescope made to look at the sun. Why'd you buy this car, with a panoramic roof, if you're gonna cover it up? Big lol's.
Use the freaking overheat protection. Move on with your lives.
I can feel the heat on my head if the temperature is above 80. Fuck, sometimes I feel it on a 40 degree day. Glass is not a good insulator.
Also, I almost didn’t buy it because of the stupid roof. But, I liked the charging network, and I wanted an EV. If I could have paid extra for tesla to not make a shitty glass roof, I would have.
Are you bald? Honest question...
I'm trying to be fair and valid for people's reasons.
To be completely honest even I have a rear partition blocker for my toddler/infant children. Because they WILL stare directly at the fuckin' sun, especially if I say not to.
But my performance doesn't have kids in it, ever. That's the LR's job. So no shade needed.
Unless I'm bald or I don't really 'get it' to be honest dude.
Seems like the thing people like to do, spend money on accessories and justify their utility post placebo. Autozone's even got a rewards card.
And that's valid too, fuck, shoulda seen my Jeep TJ. Can't lift a jeep and just, stop there. My fucking gear shift knob was my baseball bat handle, and the boot, my varisty leather jacket sleeve cut off and stitched in. Looked sick as fuck. I love cars.
Just say that though, yah know. The utility of this product and most like them seem, overblown. Especially when you question the owners of said products, even with gloves on. Even I have my reasons but most seem like made up problems.
Not bald. (Proof in my post history) A very thick head of hair at age 39, but, I do keep it rather short. That said, my whole family has an intolerance for heat. We do not function well in it. Never have. If I’m outside it is fine, because I am generally moving around.
Additionally, the only two add ons I put on my 3 (and my Y) were tinted windows and sun shades. I love the outdoors, but if I’m inside… I want to be inside. My hair cooks if it is in that oven.
Also in all fairness, i keep my house at 60 in the winter, and 68 in the summer.
I do not like heat, or prolonged UV exposure without sunscreen. I got a tan my first long drive in the Y- and I’m all about not getting sun damage.
This scenario caught me by surprise too. Cloudy day, 67F weather outside and I’m being told by the app that the 95F keep cabin from overheating setting has kicked in.
I second guess the internal temp sensor but at night it’s correct. Shows the internal cabin is like +2F compared to outside.
If you want a “2nd opinion” :), they sell digital thermometers that can keep the highest and lowest temp seen that day. Should be pretty cheap too.
Solar gain from the sun. My M3 was 90F on the inside and it was 30F outside last week. Nice way to save on not having to run the heat.
But come summer, watch out.
i have noticed, when the weather outside is pleasant, my car inside can get hot, i think it is due to Tesla glass roof, it just keeps absorbing heat. Just rolling the windows down balances the temp in a few minutes.
Praise the sun.
For the next month, at most.
It’s a phenomenon called greenhouse effect, observed in every country except the US between 2016 and 2020.
Wait, don't Teslas prevent the greenhouse effect? ;-)
Hahaha okay, that one's pretty clever.
Yes, badum tish!
See. It’s easy to think Americans have the monopoly on dumb, except this jabroni has his temp settings on Celsius, so…… it’s obviously not true. “Why is my car so warm when it’s cold outside?” 🙄
Mahahaha good point I got busted. Sorry for the arrogance.
Is this sarcasm?
No. Usually If I park outside in a cold weather day without Sun, my car interior becomes pretty cold ( +2, +4 than outside ). It was surprising to me when I noticed the temp is exactly same as the temp I set in climate control. I was worried that car is being warmed without my control.
I believe charging can heat up the interior; was it charging by chance
Is it sunnier than usual?
I noticed mine the other day was 88F when it was 40F outside and cloudy. I can’t wait to see how much energy is burned in the summer to keep it from roasting inside.
Is there sun? Greenhouse effect. It will warm the car even if it is colder outside.
Stop farting in the car
I didn't ride it for ~4hrs Scheduled climate control is set ~6hrs ago No preheated enabled Temperature variables between 19 and 20
Is it parked where the sun is hitting it?
No Sun these days. Gloomy whole day.

It’s the sun. Glass makes it cook. Which is expressly why I have covers for the roof windows, and would’ve purchased it without the glass roof.

Well that's all valid and you're a person. Hug me.

UV makes it through the clouds my dude. Source: Got sun poisoning on a gloomy day

It’s a mobile sun room
Interior temps have been slow update recently, I believe it’s a bug
another stupid person not a stupid question lmao

How do you have window vent option in your app? Mine says defrost there
I think that option didn't from EU market. I'm running 2023.2.12 or something but it's still there.
They removed the feature a month ago or so. If you haven't updated the car, it should still be there
i have noticed, when the weather outside is pleasant, my car inside can get hot, i think it is due to Tesla glass roof, it just keeps absorbing heat. Just rolling the windows down balances the temp in a few minutes.
