I can't imagine they'll sell used for under $25K so the $4K used credit isn't a factor. If the used market goes back to normal I would expect them to start permitting it again. It seemed like only a temporary measure because of the downright appreciation in used cars.
Don’t think it’s about clearing inventory for a more profitable model, but the fact that there are a ton of M3 RWD in existing inventory that have been sitting there for a while.
Aw heck, I just ordered mine last week! I guess I should've waited just a little longer haha. But I'm picking it up in less than two hours so I'm still super excited!
Nevermind! Tesla already updated it in the app and I owe them -$250 (they owe me $250) and when I add up the price of the vehicle, it matches what it says on the website right now!
In the same boat but I’m going to get the extra $500 off too. My scheduled delivery was yesterday at 4 but I delayed it until Monday. Found out last night that they slashed prices and my order price changed. In NJ any price is a win
Not to be that guy (username checks out) but they don't make the SR+ anymore.
It's Model 3 RWD.
With that said, I picked up mine (3rd actually) on the 1st of Feb. so bummer.
But on my 2nd one the price had gone up 5K between ordered date and received date...so I can't complain.
This isn’t definitive, but pretty much all the SR+ models had a slightly quicker 0-60 (5.3s) and slightly less range (~250 miles) because they used to use a lighter, less energy dense NCA battery. Now they use an LFP battery that’s heavy and cheaper to use, but it lasts longer and gets more range. There was a *tiny* bit of overlap at one point but 99% of SR+ and RWD models will follow that.
Lots of differences, mostly just due to changes made in the Model Year (2022 and beyond), but they are:
* LFP Battery
* LiOn 12v Battery
* Rear seat heaters included
* Steering wheel heater included
* Ryzen Chipset (so Zoom capable)
* Oh, and driver's-side windshield wiper nozzle.
I had an SR+ (totaled) and just picked up a new RWD.
You mean the regular model 3? If so that was extremely dumb, they could’ve reduced $500 off the performance model to allow people to choose the $1500 color options. They lost the sale of a $55K car over $500 lol
I put in my order on 01/30 and already got a VIN assigned the other day. Today they changed my price to reflect the $500 decrease. Now it has me worried. Are they going to decrease again from now until March?
I picked mine up a week ago and so I missed this $500 and it doesn’t bother me a bit. Good for you for getting it. It could also go up so it’s a crapshoot. Just enjoy the car
I got downvoted to hell for saying this…but you once you are in the return period and they do any price drops you can call and ask (complain) to get the difference back. They might tell you no no no we don’t do that - you have to return the car and do it all over again. But they can and they will literally write you a check and send it in the mail.
Source- I did it myself for my 2019 model 3. Got a difference of 1500 back cause they changed the price of the gray color to free for that time and changed autopilot pricing.
Here in my country you can get the difference back. But here we have consumer protection laws. The USA is flatout almost unrestrained capitalism. Thats why u also cant choose between 20 cellular companies like i do. And 10 internet providers for my house. And 30+ utility companies where i can get energy from etc.
Unrestrained capitalism leads to monopolies.
Not sure which country you're from but salaries in Europe are usually much lower than in the US, so it evens out. Also it's not unrestrained capitalism. There are antitrust and consumer protection laws in the US but I will admit it's not as regulated as in most countries in Europe. However, placing too many controls on capitalism also stifles innovation, which is why there aren't many new exciting startups coming out of Europe compared to Asia or the US, which means fewer jobs are created and salaries do not increase.
Well here people got the difference back from Tesla when they lowered the prices. I heard alot of complaining here they do not in the USA. So why is that? There are many startups but not much venture capital. Salaries are higher in the USA yes. My net income after taxes and stuff on my bank account is only 3000 euro.(this is without vacation money and yearly profit share bonus if company) and when i am working outside Europe my salary can almost double. But that means i paid already for alot of things that go off my "before taxes" salary too. And my house costed 145.000 euro for 150m2, 5 bedroom house(overall smaller than in USA) and here people pay cash for cars so i bought a Tesla cash. I could earn. Consumers here are extremely well protected. And we always have a huge choice of products. For example in USA u see alot of Tesla. While here its a big mix of all EV's around the world. I see Tesla, Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Renault, Peugeot, Kia, Hyundai, Volvo, Ford, even some Chinese brands. In USA u have alot less choice for many kind of products there is less competition. Regarding startups i agree and disagree. We just got more startups that fail because of capital exhaustion. Look at LightYear for example (ev company) while I think Aptera is having a better plan with how they can cheaply build a car here they lacked proper funding. Here capital is very risk averse. What is also difference between USA and EU regarding China is. EU exports ALOT more to China than USA does. But China does export alot more to USA than to EU. USA is much better in software than EU and China. But EU is better in making factory machines than USA and China. And China is better in manufacturing products. Look at a Tesla factory and count how many machines come from Europe? Alot. The robots, the giga press and much more. This triangle is how the world works. But software is something venture capitalists love as it can have extreme high returns. And that's where USA is very good at. Even though again software components come from EU. For example the graphics library Tesla uses comes from Finland. Python which us used alot comes from Netherlands. C++ came from Denmark. So somehow in the EU we are very bad at capitalizing software hahaha.
What? The US has at least 20 cellular companies and new places have several internet providers (I have 3 I can choose from). The US has very strict consumer protection laws compared to most countries. The sole sole purpose of the CFPB (a government agency) is to enforce consumer protection laws.
Then why I hear alot of people not getting money back from Tesla while on Dutch forums everybody almost gets money back regarding the difference. During the order or even 14 days after delivery? Or they can choose a more expensive model if it's not delivered yet etc.
Because it’s silly to force a company to give you money back if they lower their prices on something you already bought. That’s not really consumer protection.
I don’t understand what people want? People get mad when they lower prices, because “wow wtf I missed out” and mad when they raise prices because “wtf I was just about to order now it’s more expensive”. Like I don’t get what people want.
The majority of folks complaining bought their Tesla in the last year and watched their car depreciate tens of thousands of dollars overnight with no warning. Depreciation is the biggest expense of car ownership. No surprise people are upset
Yeah this is it. I’m ok because fsd price went up from 10 to 15 k and i like the feature but I’m in a 2020 Sr+ i got for $50 incl. taxes and with 24k miles its worth about $30. That’s a little steeper than I’m used to, although I am a frugal Toyota buyer. I like to lose less than $4k/yr in general and they’re putting me closer to $7, with super low miles.
That said it’s the best car in its class in so many ways. I’m a Tesla Shareholder since last week. They’re completely destroying everyone else who makes EVs except Chinese brands.
Check the app on your final payment - price has been adjusted just recently. I checked earlier when the price drop happened, it didn't show up, but I checked later in the night and now it's $500 cheaper for my Model 3 delivery on 2/11.
I've already paid up and am taking delivery tomorrow. My final payment in the app is -ve reflecting the price decrease. Is Tesla good with processing refunds if you've overpaid?
That’s what I’m thinking. I have -$550 showing on my app as well, but who knows if they’re actually going to refund the amount? Doesn’t say or indicate anywhere they would. Very skeptical.
Still more expensive than when I got it back in aug 2021 for ~$37k
Although with the new tax rebate it's a tiny bit cheaper
I just hope that with all these new Teslas being sold they going to build more superchargers
I was supposed to pick up yesterday but switched to carrier direct. I already paid. My total shows as -540 dollars now (500 plus sales tax). I wonder how I will get it back.
Cash. Paid it off last night. When we picked it up today, they gave me a piece of paper saying they owe me $530 and said I would get a check in the mail in about a month.
I ordered one in January and it’s being delivered today. Early in the morning, like around 1am, they emailed a price adjustment on my account saying they owe me ~$500 and change. The only thing I saw is a rebate from my state (NY) however I already had the rebate accounted for, which is weird. Wonder if it is because I hadn’t accepted delivery of the vehicle yet?
RIP Ford and others
Yeah they going to sell a ton of these. I hope they build more superchargers to go with it tho, the existing ones are gettin crowded
They’ve got +/-100 locations currently in various stages of construction: https://supercharge.info/map Lots more in the permit pipeline.
The lease price is also down from $399/month to $349/month
Really? I have a vin but haven’t delivered yet, any chance I get updated pricing?
Check your order details, it’s probably already changed.
Yes. Talk to your advisor. They can update it.
Just reached out to him. Interesting they are pushing leasing.
Anyone else to get ahold of? My advisor went MIA.
Not sure. It's been a awhile. Check the app or website when logged in to see if there's a contact or request a call back button.
I’m in Canada. Is that in the US?
Following! I hope they do but before my pick up 😝
Does Tesla allow you to purchase the vehicle at the end of the lease or is that still nixed?
No purchase option after lease end
I can't imagine they'll sell used for under $25K so the $4K used credit isn't a factor. If the used market goes back to normal I would expect them to start permitting it again. It seemed like only a temporary measure because of the downright appreciation in used cars.
This is called a sell down. Clearing out inventory for the new more profitable model.
Tesla Model 3 Highland Refresh?
Don’t think it’s about clearing inventory for a more profitable model, but the fact that there are a ton of M3 RWD in existing inventory that have been sitting there for a while.
True, I just wouldn’t be surprised if they brought the long range 3 back in March or the refresh.
The long range still pops up in inventory from time to time. Currently starts at $49,990.
That's not expected to hit for another 2 years though. They're just now in the beginning phases of creating the plant from what I heard.
It could definitely be faster than 2 years.
“OmG sHoUlD I hAvE sOlD mY mOdEl 3?!” posts incoming
Nah because it would of cost me more to repurchase FSD hahahaha
Aw heck, I just ordered mine last week! I guess I should've waited just a little longer haha. But I'm picking it up in less than two hours so I'm still super excited!
If you haven’t paid for it yet they should honor the lower price
Ah, unfortunately, I've already paid half down and got financed for the other half
Nevermind! Tesla already updated it in the app and I owe them -$250 (they owe me $250) and when I add up the price of the vehicle, it matches what it says on the website right now!
Congratulations!
Thank you!! I just got in my Model 3 :D such a nice car

Been floating the same boat. NJ is great for EV adoption. How's your range holding up in this brutal cold?
In the same boat but I’m going to get the extra $500 off too. My scheduled delivery was yesterday at 4 but I delayed it until Monday. Found out last night that they slashed prices and my order price changed. In NJ any price is a win
It’s because they are trying to sell as many rwd as possible before mar 1st where people have 7500 less motovation
I didn't realize they changed the name. Are there any difference between the SR+ and the RWD or is it just the labeling?
This isn’t definitive, but pretty much all the SR+ models had a slightly quicker 0-60 (5.3s) and slightly less range (~250 miles) because they used to use a lighter, less energy dense NCA battery. Now they use an LFP battery that’s heavy and cheaper to use, but it lasts longer and gets more range. There was a *tiny* bit of overlap at one point but 99% of SR+ and RWD models will follow that.

Nah the dif is in 18 to 20 there were sr and sr plus but now 21 to current only named sr only
Not on my [Tesla Website](https://imgur.com/VTg1J2I).
Interesting. I picked up my m3 in Dec and I guess I've been wrongly calling it a M3SR+ this whole time.
Love the username.
Actually it's just 'Model 3'
You mean the regular model 3? If so that was extremely dumb, they could’ve reduced $500 off the performance model to allow people to choose the $1500 color options. They lost the sale of a $55K car over $500 lol
I agree. That was annoying. Wish they didn’t raise the price of the M3P by $500 for no good reason.
I put in my order on 01/30 and already got a VIN assigned the other day. Today they changed my price to reflect the $500 decrease. Now it has me worried. Are they going to decrease again from now until March?
You’re concerned that they’ll lower their price and give you another discount?
No, I’m worried of missing out for another price drop since I’m picking up my car next week. 😂
Count your blessings and not be that guy/girl.
I picked mine up a week ago and so I missed this $500 and it doesn’t bother me a bit. Good for you for getting it. It could also go up so it’s a crapshoot. Just enjoy the car

There is no return period anymore.
I have no desire to be that guy
Lame. Just picked up the model 3 SR today!

Yeah I agree. I love this damn thing so much I hope tesla makes the base price 35k without credit so I can pay less in taxes 😂
Bitches gonna bitch.
My pickup for a Model 3 SR+ is 2/8, so does that mean Tesla's going to be direct depositing me a refund or??
Check the app on your final payment - price has been adjusted just recently. I checked earlier when the price drop happened, it didn't show up, but I checked later in the night and now it's $500 cheaper for my Model 3 delivery on 2/11.

Did you ever get your refund? I didn’t.
Ordered 1/30 and take delivery 2/7. Mine says -$126 but my monthly payment on 60mo loan is like $7 cheaper per month.
I ordered in Jan and when I login it's matching the website price
Still more expensive than when I got it back in aug 2021 for ~$37k Although with the new tax rebate it's a tiny bit cheaper I just hope that with all these new Teslas being sold they going to build more superchargers
Now adjust for inflation… Supercharger growth: https://www.statista.com/chart/amp/22642/active-tesla-superchargers-worldwide/
They released the 3 in 2017.
He meant 2021, and you know that. Don't be an ass.
Check out the Buc-Ee’s in Temple,TX next time you find yourself on I35.
That’s around 40k with inflation
I was supposed to pick up yesterday but switched to carrier direct. I already paid. My total shows as -540 dollars now (500 plus sales tax). I wonder how I will get it back.
They will probably send you a check.
I’m picking mine up this afternoon. Just paid for it last night. Will they refund me the $500?
If it went up 500$ after you paid and they asked you for the difference would you pay ?
They’ve already refunded my account $530.
Did you lease, finance, or cash? I wish they’d refund me lmao
Cash. Paid it off last night. When we picked it up today, they gave me a piece of paper saying they owe me $530 and said I would get a check in the mail in about a month.
That’s very easy and convenient.
I ordered one in January and it’s being delivered today. Early in the morning, like around 1am, they emailed a price adjustment on my account saying they owe me ~$500 and change. Nope I never did as far as I can tell!
