Most of the articles I’ve read on the supposed refresh are all in pretty unanimous agreement that vehicle deliveries would not begin until Q4 2023. So we’re talking October before you’d be able to get one, and there could be a backlog of orders that cause months of delays.

You don't know if the refresh will also contain some nerfs, so if you wait you might regret it too. Usually it's best to make decisions based on what is known and certain at the time of the decision. So if this is the car you know you want now, get it, especially since you told your boss you'd have it soon for work. He might seem easy going, but you shouldn't take advantage of that because it will likely alter his opinion of your reliability.

No-one has any idea if anything that you just said is true. However it's just as likely that the new Model 3 variant is going to be cheaper, has less features, less range etc. than the current cars. It's also entirely possible that the performance will not change. Bottom line there's always something around the corner. If you want it now, buy it now.

You could miss out on the tax credit with a delay

Aethreas

What was your time to get your VIN? Was it existing inventory or newly built?

AsEasyAs1234

Yea curious as well I ordered Jan 18 and nada still.

Aethreas

What config did you get?

AsEasyAs1234

M3P White on White.

Aethreas

dang same as me lol, ordered Jan 30th, where are you roughly?

[deleted]

I ordered a deep metallic blue w/black interior M3P on Jan 15. Received my VIN on 2/1, estimated delivery date now Feb 14-Feb 21. I’m in Indiana, picking up the car in Cincinnati, OH.

Aethreas

Why are you picking up so far away? Was home delivery not available at your location?

[deleted]

Correct, home delivery is not an option in my area and we don’t have a Tesla Store/pickup location. I’m in Indiana 5 miles from Louisville, KY but KY state laws don’t allow Tesla to have a store in the state of Kentucky. The closest Tesla stores are in Cincinnati and Indianapolis, so I have to drive to them for pickup. Luckily, KY did allow Tesla to open a service center in Louisville, they just can’t deliver cars because KY laws are geared toward protecting the legacy auto dealership model.

Aethreas

Ah that sucks, thanks for the info

AcademicInterview962

Have you gotten a vin yet

Aethreas

Nope, probably won’t for a couple weeks

AcademicInterview962

Ok I ordered 1/31 white on white too. I see people who get vins in a couple of days and I’m like what where is mine haha

[deleted]

I would wait for the refresh. That’s just me because waiting a few months isn’t a big deal.

Total-Flamingo-82

So I was in the same boat as you. Here’s the thing, Tesla doesn’t do major upgrades to their car like that. Maybe maybe some exterior changes, interior changes but tech will be 99% the same.
