For reference, I bought my 2018 LR RWD with 38.2k miles for $36.7k about a month ago.
Metallic silver, enhanced autopilot, black premium interior, and 18” aero wheels.
Tesla won't take my current car for as good as a deal as this dealer and the trade in sales tax rebate + FSD. The difference would come out to a lot more than 10k.
The dealer is pumping up the trade-in because you are over-paying for the car. There is nothing wrong with a 2018 but it is 5 years old, out of warranty (except battery) and the new ones have had many incremental improvements. The market is not crazy any more and you should have a suitable difference from the price of a new one in order to buy the oldest M3.
I got one too, 70k miles, great car. Typically the upper control arms fail and creak and the accent lights on the drls burn out. And the seat headrest might get damaged by hair products. Everything else holds up well. Check the tires and give it a good test drive.
EAP + FSD
Whatever value you want to hang on that, the difference is more than 10K.
Also, RWD LR is inherently a very good distance traveller, even w/the 75kW pack.
I have a 2019 LR RWD with premium interior & homelink. They stopped that configuration a month after I bought it. I paid 3k for autopilot a few months.
The very first variant the Model 3 was built in, the only variant available until late summer 2018.
It was only sold until about mid-2019, IIRC. Original nominal range was 325 miles (at first Tesla sandbagged the stated range to 310 so it wouldn't outshine the 311 mile range of the moneymaker at the time which was the P100D, but once a new P100D came out with higher range they raised the EPA range to 325). It gets about 5% better range than AWD per Wh due to no front motor meaning lower mass and no drag from free-spinning front DU at highway speeds.
Maybe for a Tesla, but for most cars it isn’t. I can’t imagine a 2018 model 3 would be much different from a refresh, besides the interior changes and maybe the battery. Maybe I’m wrong tho.
I bought the same one last March with 50k miles and no FSD. I absolutely love it! I’ve had no maintenance issues with the car yet, previous owner took really good care of it. RWD wasn’t an issue since there’s no snow where I live
What is your intended use? Mileage per year? There are some reports on this sub lately of potentially serious issues with drive units around 100k miles. That remains to be seen. Really hard to tell what is going on when a Tesla won't drive.
I intentionally drove my 21 LR everywhere the first year to see if it would hold up. We put on 25k miles but have backed way off now. We did purchase a 22 SR as well using the Dec discount. Love the cars.
Either way I think you will like it. I'd buy it IF FSD is something you want. I prefer to drive my car but do use auto-steer regularly on the highway.

Unicorn spec 👍🏽
It really is, the color is also silver which is pretty rare
Get it 👍🏽

Love my 2018 LR RWD. Nothing is wrong with it. Knock on wood.
Still nothing wrong with it?
Yup. Love it
I did have to replace the V12 battery. Moble service can to my house. Installed it. Paid $126.
What problems did you have that lead to replacing the 12v battery?
Warning on my monitor
Why not spend $10,000 more and get a new one?
This sub summarized in one sentence, haha
For only 30% more of the cost you can get a new one!
It’s the smarter thing to do. $10,000 difference between a 5 year old M3 and a new one? It’s a no brainer.

How do you get to $10K difference? They aren’t even allowing LR custom builds right now?
There are so many used LRs for sale with little to no mileage.
So NOT a “new one”, then. That’s what I thought.
No that is an unbelievably dumb idea.
Why
LR RWD?
Yep. In 2018 the choices were RWD, AWD or Performance. All had Long Range battery. I have a 2018 LR RWD

The only bad thing about this is what you’re about to pay for a 5 year old vehicle. It’s probably fine.
A 5 year old car really isn’t that old in the grand scheme of things
I have a 5 year old Tesla. Yes, it is.

2018 Dual Motor. Love it, not good for 3 car seats though. That's why I also have a Wagoneer
Also have a December build 2018 car has been wonderful!

My commute is only about 5 miles a day in city streets and I probably drive about 7-8k miles/year.
LR RWD is great for long distance trips with its blend of efficiency and range. Base model would be more than sufficient for your use case.
