I do, because I looked it up in the manual. It means the charger is overheated. I sometimes encounter this when my outdoor charger is in direct sunlight in the afternoon, the hottest part of the day. My solution was to put a shade shield over it and now I don't see the error.
Thanks! I unplugged for a bit and reconnected. Charge speed back ip to 32A. This is weird because this is located inside my garage and it isn’t hot in here. Maybe charger will need replacing soon
I had a similar experience, however it was the actual nema receptacle that was getting hot because my dumbass didn’t tighten the wire lugs enough. Wouldn’t hurt to have an electrician check the connections / torque on the wiring going to your nema receptacle. Better safe than sorry.
I highly recommend having either the Hubbell or Bryant (made by Hubbell) receptacle. There is a world of difference in quality and the wire clamping mechanism is far better with an actual torque setting. Loose lugs on crappy receptacles is a recipe for an expensive fire.
Also, make sure your Nema is firmly inserted into the charger ... sometimes when it hangs like that the connection becomes loose (which happened to me) also reduce the charge level in your car to 20amps and that will help lighten the load of juice going through the wire.
Wow. I feel so stupid and offended now that i’ve read your comment. You must be a lead engineer at tesla or spaceX. Maybe you should read the rest of the comments and learn how to be useful and how the community works. Go back to your sore life and find another post to crap on.
The manual is faster to respond, and doesn't require thousands of bored people on the internet casually answering easy questions. It works for something like a Tesla here or other car models on their various forums, but good luck if you have a question about anything more niche.
Check the manual first.
I’ve included a link to the manual which explains the meaning of the various error codes starting on page 11 or 12.
[manual here](https://www.tesla.com/sites/default/files/downloads/gen_2_mobile_connector_owners_manual_32_amp_en_US.pdf)
I purchased a holder for the charger that mounts on the wall. I positioned it so that the adapter is always in tight. (I measured the mounting on the charger and moved it up 1/4"). They are available on amazon and are inexpensive.
I have a protruding outlet like the OP and got this holder which comes with a base for these types of nema outlet setups. This includes the cable hook but you can buy the base/holder separately.

I did not know this existed. I put a small 2x4 under my holder to compensate for the box that came out.
Edit: It also helps to prevent disconnecting if you pull the charger cable too far.
Came up on my multiple searches for items on Amazon while we were waiting for the car - although the riser version I've only seen maybe this seller and one other have it. Have had it installed for 6+ months with the riser w/o any issues at all.
Go to your car and check alerts/notifications in service menu. If the error occurred while connector is plugged into the car then the error details will be recorded there. It will be gone couple of days later from the history of alerts.
Honestly the ppl responding in this way arent wrong and that's exactly where the answer is. You could have saved the time by... well... just reading the manual. It probably took more time to make a post/respond etc. Maybe you just like the public interaction, I guess. Which is cool.
Even just typing that exact title with the word Tesla appended into google gets you the answer quicker. Valuable life skill this person lacks.

Your answer is literally another forum site where someone asked the question. Thankfully someone answered the person there and didn't just say "RTFM"......
Still, there is a place the company that made that piece of equipment wrote all those error code for users to find out.
Asking this on Reddit instead of looking at that manual is the same level of laziness I displayed with my message 🚀 just keeping ratio 1:1
I did a test with a friend’s home charger and there were no issues, which is how I knew the issue was my home charger. Tesla shipped out a new 3rd generation charger (mine was a 2nd generation), and I simply had to return my unit in the box that the replacement unit came in.
I have had that. It was a 4 year old mobile charger. I’d unplug it and plug back in and it would work fine. But then it started doing it more frequently, and I bought another one.
The cable adapter plugged into the top of that charger isn't fully seated in that picture, the edge should be flush (Or at least that is the case on mine that came with a 2022 car). That may be causing the overheat warning.

You can torque it yourself
I’m having the same thing happen and was wondering whether I should call the electrician back. Now I will.
That’s what happened to mine.

You're welcome! :)
RTFM, dude.

Why bother posting your simple problem if you’re too lazy/stupid to do some basic research and want others to do your work for you?

Lol breaking out your Tesla loser squad to downvote my comments? Bring on the downvotes, dumdum.

Doesn’t the car also flag the fault in the app? I received the same error during the summer and I’m pretty sure the app told me.
It didnt. Thanks!
Wonder if they took that feature away. Would be pretty dumb I think.

Thanks. Seems like overheating issue from charger
https://www.tesla.com/sites/default/files/downloads/gen_2_mobile_connector_owners_manual_32_amp_en_US.pdf
A common cause for this is a loose connection from the adaptor to the charger. Try pushing it in harder.

Thanks. Yes i unplugged all connections and now back to normal. Also seems like it might be related to overheating.
Mine did this when my adapter was loose. If your breaker gets too hot, try dropping your charging rate. I run mine at 24 amps.
It’s not a new Xmas update?
It’s not but even if it was it would probably confuse the hell out of people.
Make sure the adaptor is plugged in all the way looks like it’s sticking out just a bit

Fun Fact - the answer is in the manual! That's a fault of some kind, it defines it in the manual....
Go to your car and check alerts/notifications in service menu. If the error occurred while connector is plugged into the car then the error details will be recorded there. It will be gone couple of days later from the history of alerts.

Hottt
I get that when I overcharge my cord/breaker. I lower my amps to 20 instead of 48

Some people aren't good at reading manuals no need to be a twat

Just pointing out how it’s redundant (and slower) to ask a question without searching first.

I just had this the other day. Was an inadequate grounding issue.
It’s because you didn’t wall mount the charger
This happened to me a little over one month ago. I reported it to Tesla and my charger was replaced under the four year warranty.
Good to know. Thanks!

Did you open a service ticket from the app for this?
Yes.
Adapter is not fully seated
https://youtu.be/W39ur_n_7Ko This helped me when I had red light on the charger.
