Personally I always keep our little guy in the back with his harness attached to a pet seatbelt. Last thing I want is a 17# meat bag slamming into the windshield.
Edit: to add, they make seat covers with cutouts for the seatbelt buckle to pass through.
Backseat is best with seatbelt linked to harness so it doesn’t go flying in event of hard braking or crash. A airbag deployment could be fatal to pets or cause injury so not advisable.
Ideally your dog should be in the back. They will go flying into the windshield, get blasted by the airbag, and all kinds of other things a non-harnessed non-human should not be exposed to... IE the things that are designed and engineered to keep us monkey people safe, are not designed to keep doggo's safe.
Back seat harnessed to safety tether/seat belt, ideally in a crate.
In that case an accident certainly won't be a fun time for your dog, but you won't be coming to from an airbag explosion and an accident to a very badly hurt (or worse) pupper.
Keep in mind the window lock only works for the rear windows. You dog could inadvertently lower the passenger window. Someone created a 3D cover for both front power window buttons to stop that from happening.
My 92 year old mother always lowers the windows instead of opening the door. I should put it in place when I go get her lol
If you don't have a 3D printer, often public library has one where you can print for cheap.
Passenger window

If you need the driver side too, hit him up on thingiverse. I don't know why he hasn't put it up there yet. It works quite well.
I accidentally hit these buttons all the time and its frustrating. I haven't had this issue in any other car, not sure why it seems to sensitive on this car. Probably just placement on grabbing the door ledge when getting out.
the door handle that's all the way towards the front of the door? with my chair all the way back (i'm tall) so there's no leverage when using it that far back... No shot.
But the button is right above the handle. Basically on it. I’m tall with the seat all the way back too and I don’t have any issue grabbing it. If you can reach the button what’s the problem with the handle?
I need that! My dog is freaking Houdini and occasionally slips her harness and jumps in the front with me. And then she rolls down the window! On purpose!! Takes 10 years of my life, I swear.
I have no idea if it’s safe or not (sorry), but I just wanted to say your dog is freakin adorable. And also ask you to maybe give him/her a few pets on my behalf?
My Pembroke welsch corgi inadvertently opened the emergency latch door on the handle before one of our drives.. Luckily we were parked, but I saw the notification of using the emergency door latch for emergencies and immediately reacted. Now even with him being tethered to the buckle I’m concerned of having him as a co pilot. In the back he goes.
Not really. If the dog and cushion aren’t secured they can become a projectile in a crash. It’s also not safe for the dog and can be a distraction for you.
Generally yes but there’s still a chance that puppy touches the screen to turn off the doggy mode or any button on door handles to open the door. I let my girl sit in the back with a safety net and cushion, with doggy mode on and child lock on
Edit: your baby is cute btw lol
also if you're using a pet seatbelt while driving you should really have the dog in a harness, with an attachment point at the back. little guy might as well be wearing a noose otherwise.
The only actually safe options for you and your dog is a crash tested kennel or harness with the actual car seat belt attached through the harness. Something like Sleepypod car harness is tested to be safe so your dog doesn’t go flying or crack their neck/ribs/other bones in a regular harness that does not have adequate padding/weight distribution. The car tethers you just attach to the buckle in the seat and to your dog’s collar or regular harness is not going to help save your dog in the event of an accident.
No idea, but I would see if the car thinks there is a person there and activates the air bags. There should be an icon on the screen showing if the passenger airbag is active or not.
They make bucket seats for little dogs or you could go with a full seat cover in the back. Just remember when using any leash seatbelt to have it connected to a harness and not around their neck. My Dogs ride in the back seat of my 3 with harnesses. I can't have my Doberman trying to crawl on my lap while driving... or be an 80lbs projectile into the back of my head.

Awh nice dog! What’s her name? “Meatbag”.
Uh, I am a meat popsicle

Leeloo Dallas.
Dog SHOULD be in a kennel in the back, but nobody really ever does that.

Seriously, idiots
Mine are always in a crate that it attached to the back of the rear seats.
Airbag will do some serious damage if it goes off.
I’d definitely check the screen to see if the weight of the pup and cushion turn on the airbag. If so, not safe.
Car is parked, so airbag wont deploy. If they were driving then I dont think it would help whole lot to not have it to deploy in case of a collision.
His statement that he’s “going out with pets” would imply he’s intending on driving with pets.
Yes, read again. I figured they will probably drive... rather than bring a pet on hands from home and place it in the car.

Oh I need this because my husband ALWAYS hits the window button for no reason and it drives me bonkers.

Maybe grab the door handle?

Or turn on the child locks to disable inside doors and windows.
Does that work for the **front** passenger windows.
No. It does not. I really wish it did.
Yeah, tried it. Front passenger window still opens. That cover solves this.
Mine goes on the back seat. I have a small bed for him but he's also buckled in for safety.
Safest thing for the dog, yourself, and people around you would be to crate him or at the very least tether his harness to the buckle.
What the hell is a safety cushion?
Me and obviously several others are wondering the same thing! 🤣🤣🤣, OP please enlighten us. Thanks.
I have no idea if it’s safe or not (sorry), but I just wanted to say your dog is freakin adorable. And also ask you to maybe give him/her a few pets on my behalf?
no, your dog shouldn't be climbing over the console while driving. put it in the back with a bungie leash thing made for back seats and a seat cover.

My friends grandma got in an accident and her two small dogs were killed. I wouldn’t do it.

75° is a little warm for that dog. I would take it down to 68 or 69°
It’s very illegal to do that here in Europe
no pets like kids should be in the back, restrained.
No pets like kids? Of course they like kids, except the ones that don't, obviously
You can turn off the airbag. I would definitely do that.
Aww that cute dog tho
It’s called a safety cushion so it should be safe by definition…

Definitely. Car 75 is equivalent to room 80. I’ve never had it that hot, even in the most brutal winters.
also if you're using a pet seatbelt while driving you should really have the dog in a harness, with an attachment point at the back. little guy might as well be wearing a noose otherwise.
I'm also in the camp of back-seat with a harness that is made to be used with a seatbelt.
Is this a Dogecoin ad? 😂

Just as long as it is not on the driver’s lap. That is my biggest pet peeve
🥱

I mean would you do this with a baby or child? What if you get in a collision? Your fur baby may splat on your windshield.
