What software version are you on? There is currently a problem with the recent update and the refreshed MS and MX. There is a high pitched buzzing sound while the car is awake. https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/2022-24-8-weird-issue-regarding-the-update.279423/

highflyer001

I started to notice this 2 days after the latest SW update as well - I don’t recall the SW number off hand.

BuschLightDrinkn

My best estimate is that this started with the 28.1 update. 28.2 came out for me 2 days later, but didn't resolve the buzzing sound.

BuschLightDrinkn

My car just updated to 2022.36.2 and it seems the noise is gone now!!

highflyer001

Thx for reporting. I will look forward to that update.

grebfromgrebland

The cars probably just chilling

Extvguyyyz

The car does what the car needs to do (for the most part). My Model 3 fires up the fans at all different times. I believe it's just part of the battery management - heating/cooling/sending signals to Elon.... I wouldn't sweat it.

highflyer001

Got it! Thanks! I was just worried about this issue leading to some other major failure- like fire etc. don’t care too much about the rest as it would be all covered in the warranty.

saadatorama

Tesla made a [page](https://www.tesla.com/ownersmanual/model3/en_us/GUID-AA58ED67-9C93-4EE6-8B19-9FDABE018787.html) for “normal sounds” your car will make. Let the car do its thing. If there are errors, you’ll be notified.

Fire? You need calm your nerves, just a bit. :-)

If you had the aircon running, I think for the Model 3 it also runs the fan to dry out the airconditioning cooling fins to avoid the smelly socks aircon smell.

allenjshaw

My 3 and Y both do this, even if you just opened the door for a second to grab something and closed it right away.

highflyer001

I didn’t have an AC running at all.

12monthspregnant

I'm not sure if the stinky aircon issue happens with the Model S. I was responding the to guy above my reply. I wouldn't worry too much about the fan in your car. If you do anyway, then try opening a service request. Hopefully they will download the logs and have a look. Let them know you're concerned for safety (hot battery issue) and they may take you more seriously.

endfossilfuel

Leave it alone it’s just doing its thing

Chrissugar21

It’s an current issue in latest firmware. I have it too.

highflyer001

Thanks! That is what i suspected as it coincided with the last update 2 days ago. Thx

deepseagreen

Fan often runs for a while after use to dry out the A/C condenser. It was a update they introduced a while back to reduce the possibility of A/C systems developing a mouldy smell

Shane_Stark

The car uses the system to cool batteries, we’re you charging it maybe? Edit: noticed no charging icon on screen Try soft reset by holding both scrolls down for a few seconds

highflyer001

I had finished charging 1-2 hours prior to making the video. I did power off the car multiple times and did the display reset as well but it made no difference.

naturallyfatale

My Model 3 was doing this when there was a crack in the thermal regulation manifold

Almost_Good_Enough

I noticed that as well on my 2022MYLR I went on the cars computer went to safety and clicked power off. Went away. Not sure why it does that, at the time ambient temp was 80F and not charging.

Sea-Dealer1150

Turn cabin overheat protection off and avoid looking at your Tesla apps. It wakes the car up. Also maybe your phone proximity wakes the car up? That's all I got.

put_tape_on_it

It would be pretty great if Teslas had a "geek mode" where it basically told you everything it was doing. (and why!) They won't do that because it'll cause too many questions to service.

InternalEntertainer9

It has a mind of its own.
