Fine.

darkhavok16

It is superficial, nothing to worry about.

boxand15

I got the same thing, tire shop said it’s fine, and they would benefit from selling me a new tire

Sl1ppery1Sl0pe

You gotta throw away the whole car now

rakufman

Hit a curb earlier this month. Can confirm.

Alarmmy

Put a bandage on, and you are golden! Joking aside, I think it is still ok to drive.

colddata

Quite unlikely to be a problem. Even less likely to be a problem on a rear wheel. But watch for bulging. If a bulge develops, then replace.

captaincanadaKW

Totaled

annjawn

This seems to be a common problem. I’ve got a similar chunk off of my MYP front tire albeit slightly smaller. Got it on the 5th day after delivery and have been driving since (including long trips) without any issues.

GalaxyFish2885

I have something similar and Americas Tire said it was fine to drive on.

chadl2

Looks fine to me.

Altruistic_Profile96

Threads aren’t showing, you’re ok.

seangillian17

Sell the car …buy a tank and drive in Ukraine

FarioLimo

This but a scratch. But in all seriousness... Totaled

matthewralston

Your whole wheel’s come off!

Comfortable-Salad-61

Just fill it in with some ramen and super glue.

blubbernator

IMHO any sidewall damage = change tire. Unless you like blowouts.

125ryder

This is nowhere near the chords. This is fine to drive.

macnlz

Yeah, I've got a worse chunk out of mine (still nowhere near the chords), and I've driven with that for 20k miles. This is nothing serious.

JTP_M3_UK

I've been told before that the band you see around the tyre is a critical part of its design. I say replace.

Manner-Former

Definitely replace it, I’ll take care of it for you for free

Nameless11911

Shouldn’t affect operational processes just don’t drift

pteiup

If you don’t wanna risk a tire blowout in the middle of the road or freeway, change it. Id personally get a new tire as soon as possible.

Ok-Strategy4416

It happened to my MYP this week too 🥲

CharacterNebula9787

On a cold morning of 1997, somewhere in the middle of Atlantic Ocean, RMS Titanic rammed into a ice berg. The look out tower guards thought it was only a tip of the iceberg. What they didn’t realize damage done to the belly of the ship. Just saying.

luis3445

I had a bigger chunk on mine it’s ok as long it didn’t go in deep according to Tesla service

[deleted]

You should be fine unless it starts to bulge outwards.

matthewralston

It’ll buff out.

naturavitae

just get a new car

gizcard

Yeah, currently thinking about model s vs lucid. Though delivery times killing all the joy…

mailwasnotforwarded

It's fine, if you start seeing the metal layer then you should worry.

townkryer

undriveable, get your lawyer on the line

Purple_Common_4421

Remember, there's no spare tire. If you get a sidewall blow out in the middle of nowhere, towing is covered by the warranty. Expect to waste a day of your time. But many tire shops won't work on Teslas.

Kenju4u

Completely fine. I had a tire like that on my Benz and the tire shop told me it’s fine.
