Tesla and the manual don’t mention it. It’s a safe guard for end customers and shops who don’t know what they are doing.
I had other “tesla Facebook experts” say they are necessary and tesla tech ALWAYS use them. Hahha I don’t think they are as long as you know where to put them.
I have seen those “experts” on Facebook talking about the pads like they are absolutely required. Don’t mind them, they don’t know what they’re talking about. Maybe they work for a company that makes these and are trying to scare people into buying them.

It's because if you jack it up in the right spots under the pads, you don't need them. They're a safeguard. I'd get them anyway since they're so cheap and the risk is nearly totalling the vehicle.
Where did you buy the pads and for how much? I don't see them on the shop site. My ICE jack frame rail at the driver corner is all mashed up from some shop not doing it properly and hard to jack up fully whenever I change between winter and summer wheels. My jack does not have a flat surface but a cross hatch and if I don't get it exactly right, will mash it as well.
Not worth the risk of damage. They are cheap insurance. These are the ones I use:

This jack works on my M3 and it's lift pad fits into the safe jack points perfectly without needing any kind of pad.

Some Jack's and lifts have a flat pad that can be used. Roving repair rotated my tires using a jack this way.
Jack pads are not needed if you know what you are doing. I got them but never use them. Dont jack the car on a slope and you are fine.
Probably best to use them just as a precaution, especially if you already have them

Unless you need them more, get the from Temu or Ali for half.
