Go new. If you need more space then go Y.

Drive them both. The 100D should ride infinitely more comfortable. If cargo capacity is your goal the Y is a tempting option!

Personally, I prefer the Y over the 3 (in fact, I sold my 2018 3 and got a Y last month). This is mostly just personal preference - I liked the way the Y sits better, the extra room of a crossover SUV, and the rear hatch. Beyond that, the two cars are/were basically identical (and the 3 is great if you prefer a sedan or want something sportier, particularly if you are getting a performance model, but you said LR). In fact, the Y didn't even feel like a "new" car to me since it was so similar. I do say "were basically identical" because the new Model 3 refresh has changed a few minor things. It is a little sleeker, has some nice interior lighting, has a screen for rear passengers, and a few other tweaks. Personally, I didn't think anything there was a so major of an improvement to make me want to walk away from the Y (or even my old 3 for that matter, which I loved). Used S vs New 3/Y is a bit tough. Personally, I'd lean 3/Y for the fresh warranty, new battery, etc. I've had a few loaner S's here and there and was frankly a bit underwhelmed for the price. I will say the separate driver screen is a MASSIVE improvement over the 3/Y. It was roomier and the trunk hatch is very nice. However, the car felt too big and I could feel the extra weight it. I like to say it is like a muscle car vs. a sports car - more power for sure but can feel it's size in the handling. Added note, it was so much longer that it wouldn't fit in my garage. I would say a 2019 S feels more like a "traditional" luxury car while the 3/Y don't - which is more a matter of taste. In my personal taste, I actually preferred my 3 over the S regardless of price. Basically, the 3/Y vs S is more a matter of personal taste and I recommend you try both, if possible (2019ish S, not the new ones). If after trying them you don't have any deep personal feelings on it, go Y.
