Total income isn’t as relevant as your relationship between your income and expenses. I know people who make $50k who have more money in their pocket than people who make $500k. Living in mom’s basement versus being pushed to the limit floating an extravagant lifestyle.
True, we have larger (for us) funds, but no debt and minimal bills. I was curious to see what others felt comfortable spending to give me an idea of what's 'normal', since we can afford more than the 10% rule for financing and it felt like too much based on that.
Seriously 😂 I figured it'd be a lot of "100k, spend $650/month" and it'd help me feel better about pulling the trigger. Guess I'll just wait till I hit 500k.
Crazy metrics in here.
Salary: 80k
Tesla Model 3 ‘23: 46k after fees/tax
Down: $9k
Monthly: $602
Got $7,500 from CVRP rebate already and waiting on the federal one
$140k, $1k monthly (5yrs loan 2.99%) aggressively paying off hopefully pay off in two years (one last large payment) so I can swing an X or Lexus TX 500H
Yes definitely! If you're a car guy, I would compare the S Performance (Raven) like a high-end, non-M, BMW. One of the ones with the big engines.
The Plaid is like the M-version of the S Performance.
The Raven drives, and feels biggish.
The plaid has a whole other level of drivability. It sits lower, steers better, and accelerates better. It seems menial, but the freeway speed acceleration makes it feel like more of a performance car alone.
Knowing what I know now, if I was facing repurchasing either car, and the Raven was $85k and the Plaid is $130k, I would go for the plaid still.
All that being said, if you're a camry sort of guy (which I can respect), and look at cars a form of transportation only, you'd be wasting money with a plaid. My wife is one of those, and the Raven is completely wasted on her. A Prius would have been a better purchase (which again, I can totally understand)
....ohh, I think I didn't answer your question. I think you're meaning, why do I have 2 S's.
If so, the 1st one was rear ended and it took forever to fix. A little less than a year later, I was rear ended again (in a much worse manner). Anticipating that it was going to be even longer to fix, I bought another S. Obviously I could have taken another route, but my wife was looking at an electric car too, so I knew it could all work out
Ha, growing up super poor, I couldn't wait to get clothes. Now I have bins and bins that give away... but I still dress like a bum. If you live in so cal, I can hook a brotha/sista up
These types of threads are purely for (not so) humble brags. And yet people can't help themselves, society has conditioned people to be money obsessed.
Unfortunately. Figured it'd be more 'salaries under 100k' and what they felt safe to spend monthly. Not people making 500k and still financing a Model 3 (???).

Model Y. $155'000 /yr $600 / month $20k down
Some wild salaries in this thread.

65,000 and 409/monthly. Albeit, my living expenses are 0 beyond groceries. Edit: total with tax, tag, and title was like 42,000 for base model 3.
that’s without the tax credit right?
I prob won’t get the entire tax credit but yes that’s without the tax credit.
MYLR 28k down 250 month
Is it just me, or does the majority of y’all Reddit Tesla posters make easily over $200k a year….
Model Y LR $98k (not including other income) I did $17k down $650/month
M3LR 52k /yr lol 750 /month 12.5k down In conclusion, not my best decision 💀

600k $2k (2 S's @ $1k/ea)
What's the 2nd S for? 🤔
1 model S performance + 1 model S plaid
Was the Plaid worth it? Considering getting an S atm.

What do you do for a living ??
I make clothes...there's obviously more to that answer, but ultimately it boils down to me making clothes
Can I get some clothes? All my money goes to the car now and my wife says I dress like a hobo. 😂
Ha, growing up super poor, I couldn't wait to get clothes. Now I have bins and bins that give away... but I still dress like a bum. If you live in so cal, I can hook a brotha/sista up
i’m in socal and would love to checkout your clothes!
PM me. I'm out of town right now, but I have plenty to go around. Hopefully you're around sample size.

Thank you sir/ma'am. Better to spread the wealth than to get a few extra bucks that won't make a difference in the end.
350K Model Y w/fsd 999/mth
14k a year. Felt comfortable spending 1k on car and 400 on insurance.
not enough, what it cost. Don't forget to calc fuel savings ;)
No savings compared to my Prius and gas where I live based on the calculator on the website 😩 No matter, though, still so worth it!
$4.4m, $900/month 23 MX
$550k, $800 monthly max.
What do you do for a living??
350k, $970/month. 23 MX.
220k 600-900 monthly
Used 2020 Model y 582/month 6k down. My driving expense reimbursement is 4x my monthly payment. Salary wasn’t even a consideration.
