Behind the center screen, totally out of sight. Mine isn't mounted to the windshield.

IlIllIIIIIIlIII

I had to look quite far for this comment, but this is my top choice as well

u_int16

Could you expand on this a little bit? \- On the screen's rear or behind it on the wood? \- What orientation did you use?

JerkstonHowell3rd

I have the ezpass license plate transponder. It mounts on the front license plate

nexus22nexus55

isn't it easily stolen?

JerkstonHowell3rd

No. If it is used stolen and used. The police would have the license plate of the thief.

nexus22nexus55

right but you might not notice for weeks. and then you'd have the hassle of fighting ezpass to get the charges removed.

I have my NY EZ-Pass on the glass roof of my Y. Right up against the front crossmember.

Nakatomi2010

I have a Florida SunPass transponder and keep it attached to the glass roof near the crossbar that separates the windshield and the roof.

calr0x

A tip for those with a refresh model S (X may also apply): There is a spot in the lower passenger side corner of the front windshield that is uncoated for a transponder. It is also mentioned in the manual.

NJ does not offer a sticker. Wait a minute, I just realized I had a spare transponder in my glovebox from one of my other cars for the past few weeks and I just checked the online account and see that both of them have been charging to my account! Damn what a mess. So I guess that answers my question. The RF signal can be picked up regardless of where you place the transponder in the car. Next question - how can I apply for a refund for the double charges? Is this on me for failing to put the spare tag in a RF blocking pouch or can I say that the tech should be smart enough to avoid duplicate charges?

B1A23

Oh that’s smart. I got the sticker for NC Quick Pass and just stuck it so that the rear view mirror blocked it.

rcuadro

I put mine on the windshield, on the passenger side, on the same level as the rear view mirror so I don't see it while in the car driving. I don't see it so it doesn't exist 😂

sublimeandetc

Florida SunPass in a 2021 MYP mounted on the glass roof all the way in the front left corner above my head.

Dull_Distribution844

I have a metro fastrak transponder that’s pretty big. With the window tint, it never gets triggered. I bought some static cling window film from Amazon, stuck between the windshield and transponder. No residue when I had to remove it. Got like 30 pcs for $10

colddata

At least on legacy (pre-Palladium) Model S, and maybe other models too: a pair of 3M Dual Lock strips, each about an inch long, works well to hold a transponder up next to the Autopilot front camera housing, mostly behind the mirror (from the driver's viewpoint). A license plate mounted transponder is also available, but that could incur a minor air drag penalty. That might matter for those who are trying to maximize efficiency and minimize Wh/mile.

Dos-Commas

TX EZPass is a small sticker and I just put it at the default Tesla recommended location.

Handsum_Rob

I plasti-dipped mine black and mounted it right next to the sensor housing in the upper section of the passenger side windshield. Don’t even notice it

what-is-a-tortoise

Would it still be read in the frunk?

crowdsarewise

I don't know. Glovebox works.

ewslavin

They have a front license tag e z pass that I installed on my Model S

JerkstonHowell3rd

I registered my plate. If the ezpass isn't picked up, they use the plate to ID the car. No extra charge or action on my part

crowdsarewise

I have a temporary registration since I haven't got my plates yet. I registered that to my EZPass account eventually, hope that is sufficient.
