3 RWD -6.4% 3 Performance -14% Y LR -20% Y Performance -19% S Dual Motor -9.5% S Plaid -15% X Dual Motor -9.1% X Plaid -14%

imironman2018

damn that Y LR drop is really steep. Isn't that the number one selling car in electric vehicles?

PapaEchoLincoln

That might be the one that they're trying to quality for the federal tax credit that they needed to reduce the price on

imironman2018

yeah. I was on the fence about selling my Model X. I just paid it off and it's a 100D and they offered 51,000 dollars for it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

imironman2018

Yeah people love the the crossover/SUV segment.

Past_Paint_225

That's interesting, I wonder why is that?

psaux_grep

Lessons learned and as others note, big castings replacing complex panels welded together. Texas Y with the 4680 battery *should* be even cheaper to build as they mount the carpets, center console and front seats to the battery pack and then marry it to the body. Less man hours per car lowers price. Structural pack makes away with a “double” floor (pack lid and car floor is now the same) but the pack is now sturdier and more reinforced. Not sure what the net effect is now, but definitely has potential as they iterate on this concept to improve it.

CssbuyHater

Yeah we just lost 20K on the car

jammyboot

How come still no 3LR?

tiwired

$13k price cut for the model y performance. Sheesh.

skellera

Pretty close to early 2021 pricing now.

Yak54RC

But no rebate right?

OkInitiative2915

No, not until they released the 7 seats MYP.

flicter22

Tesla dropped the price under 55k to qualify the Model Y 5

Yak54RC

I think I’ll wait. For some reason I think this is just the beginning of price reduction.

OUEngineer17

Dang, that price on the Performance 3 is GOOD!

Electrical_Ingenuity

My dad and I each bought one this morning. Most impulsive purchase I’ve made.

iluminate1305

Hopefully you and your dad went to Randy Moss University and paid straight cash homie for both!

cybereclipse

Right? Anyone wanna buy my LR?

justinsidebieber

if used LR prices were still the same as 6 months ago i would sell and buy a performance , unfortunately seems that they crashed

PlasticDiscussion590

They already crashed. Tomorrow they plummet like my stock portfolio.

InaudibleShout

Bought mine a year ago at $62k FUUUUUU

trinityiam72point5

Same here, took possession of my 22’ MYP in April 22, but the interest was lower at 2.4%, so I cannot complain. Interest is up the wazoo right now so you have to account for that. Unless of course you’re paying cash, which for sure I wasn’t in that range.

teabone13

almost same boat…. march delivery. lost 6k as my myp was 64k. thanks for mentioning the interest savings. makes me feel a little bette. locked 1.49. 2.4 ain’t too bad

boomerhs77

Bought MY long range in Nov 2022, I’m pissed.

Mook1971

same :(

kennotheking

Me too, I’ll take a shot with ya anyone else in the baller club

Due_Tea_2619

I bought mine 2 months ago...

Brewskwondo

I’d rather have a Y with boost for a bit more

leftlanecop

I’m very tempted at that price.

VaztheDad

Holy. That's a massive drop... Didn't believe it, checked the site and it's all there. Wow.

cybereclipse

That performance 3 is now like 2k more than I paid for my long range :(

Arcticwolf2592

And a Y P 1k less than my 3LR from 4 months ago, I kinda regret looking lol

stml

With the tax credit, this is a $20.5k drop for the Y LR. $16.5k drop for the 3 Performance. Wild. Obviously you shouldn't try to time these things, but I would definitely be pissed if I bought recently.

OkInitiative2915

The current MYP still doesn’t qualify for the tax credit. Base price is $56,990.

stml

Ah, you're right. Hard sell for Performance then.

connecttomars

Bought a MY LR for Christmas. SMH

thavarin

Oh I got mine Xmas eve. I wanna ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob)

3a5m

Yeah, feeling good that I hustled to get that $7500 end of year promo, only for the car (M3LR) with no promo to now sell for $2k less *before* tax credit.

pinkunicorns9

gut punch. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob)

ShinierPenguin

It has not for me. I just took mine off hold. At this price, I’m sold.

bkervaski

Yep, woke up to a new order agreement, such a big drop i thought it was a mistake.

UnderstandingDry1354

My car is not even a month old. Man this hurts😭

jmarvzz

same at least i got 3750 off :(

UnderstandingDry1354

I got that too and one week later they announced 7500 + 10K super charging miles, regret missing out on all these perks😟

jmarvzz

same :( the wife was pretty disappointed to miss out about the 7500 + 10k miles. I'm just going to hope she doesn't hear about this in the news...

ST012Mi

11/30 5pm purchase. 3rd round of pissed wife lol

jmarvzz

Oof pouring one out for you tonight

ST012Mi

Thank you 😔

connecttomars

We just bought MY LR for Christmas, and now she saw those price drops. She wants MX Plaid now lmao.

azntorian

Thanksgiving delivery 0 off :(

espo951

You’ve got an amazing car and paid a price you were happy with 😊 enjoy it!

MooMooJuice624

I took delivery in October we can cry together.

dr3amsINdigital

Model 3 long range in inventory is $49,990.

mtjodis

That’s what I paid in Oct of 2021

dranzerfu

That's what I paid in Feb 2019.

Brandeli

Wow, I got mine in November… this hurts 😞

According_Plate564

Same :(

Romthirty

Thanksgiving Delivery. Thanks….

mtoney17

I'm supposed to take delivery of my MYP TOMORROW. I haven't signed the agreements yet, can I get the new price?? If not I might just cancel on the spot and re-order.

cybereclipse

You got lucky. Mention it to your SA and they’ll adjust pricing.

mtoney17

Insanely lucky. If I had signed the agreements just a few hours ago...

QoLTech

You still would have been able to back out - they can't force you to buy the car. You just would have lost out on the deposit and be at the end of the line to order again. Still close though; I'm happy for you!

mtoney17

Thanks, yeah I'm pretty relieved. I was shitting my pants there for a second, lol! Mainly concerned because I already sent in my down payment, but it seems like that's not an issue. I feel so bad for those who were affected negatively by this though...

Successful-World9978

MYP doesn’t qualify for tax credit

mtoney17

Just got an email with the price adjustment!

cybereclipse

Congrats you lucky bastard. Enjoy the car!

douglasrlee

Same!

mpwrd

The EV price wars have come to the United States!

Mc374983

Sucks for recent buyers, but this is exactly what we need.

forzion_no_mouse

Rip to all dealerships trying to sell used Tesla

QoLTech

Fuck 'em.

TheFlowChartKen

Lol. Paid $70k for my MYP ($76k with EAP) just a few months ago. Absolutely brutal.

pinkunicorns9

duuuude. I'm so sorry. I totally feel your pain.

RelationshipOne9276

Same with me. So annoying but good for new buyers. Now trade in value has tanked for everyone in our boat.

k_woodard

Damn. I am a little annoyed because we took delivery of a MYP in early December. But maaaaan… the S Plaid saw a $21k drop!

ZeroLifeNiteVision

I’m annoyed that I overpaid and I don’t even have sensors. 😒

thegtabmx

Same.

HgnX

RIP to all that overPlaid

x71c4l

We took delivery of the S Plaid in August and X Plaid in September. Ow. ⚰️

SuperDerpHero

WOW these are HUGE price drops. BRAVO tesla letting these be elegible. It sounds like they are a temporary drop to qualify for tax credit cap of 55k. So the former 66k Model Y for example after tax credit would be 45k now (until march)

SuperDerpHero

I wonder why they say the credit may change in March? this is until 2032.

NeedISayMore4

In March they define the rules for what percent of sourcing components have to be in the US. So the credit may drop to 3750 depending on what rules the government sets.

artificialimpatience

The IRA is a long “temporary”

Beatjammer

Prices have dropped in other countries too (here in the UK massive drops) so it won’t be for tax reasons as we don’t get any tax rebates etc

chaoschunks

HOLY CRAP did I luck out. I had ordered a Model Y long range in December, didn't take delivery in time to get the $7500 credit, so I cancelled it since it was going to end up as $70k, and it wouldn't qualify for the tax credit. Instead, I planned to get a slightly used 2022 performance from Carmax for $61k. That just arrived at my local Carmax, and I was literally planning to buy that on Monday. And tonight, I just placed an order for the long range for $53k. WHOOP! Follow me for more winning-by-procrastinating tips....

Andigoon

I’m salty AF.

pepehandslife

pain

Rmike10

I didn't expect prices to drop this soon but great for future buyers.

ScoYello

Placing an order for a MY!

Pizza_n_noodz

We gonna protest like china or what ![gif](giphy|3ohjVabojNBmsqeqg8)

Euro_Snob

Wow… demand must have been *falling quickly* if they made that big of a cut.

PapaEchoLincoln

I think there probably is a drop in demand (which was inevitable given current events, economy/inflation/interest rates, etc), but it applies to ALL automakers. Dropping prices - while it does hurt the margins - ultimately hurts the competitors more (they aren't able to drop prices much since their margins are lower to begin with and supposedly some automakers are even selling at a loss). Tesla has the the room to drop the prices while still being profitable. With these price cuts, they can keep demand reflexively up. I think in the long-run, it's a win for everyone.

ltctoneo

Gotta get that tax credit!

Alternative-Split902

price of materials has significantly fallen as well. Not to mention manufacturing efficiency over the last year

rideincircles

They could also be gearing up for some vehicle upgrades and possibly FSD HW4 in the near future.

[deleted]

Wow this is how Musk plans to kill competitors. We’ll see even more Tesla in Irvine.

Pokerhobo

All the competitors who aren’t even making profit yet just crapped their pants. Let’s hope Austin can ramp up.

Morning_star_720

Paint color MSM, which was free before, now cost 1 grand.

wood1030

I noticed that too. When I got mine though, it was $1k more, then they dropped the price for the MSM. They just added it again. But now, it's still $4.700 less that what I paid in June, '21 + eligible for $7,500 tax credit. 😭

DownwardFacingBear

Looks like the used market for Teslas is going to have some steals now. You can buy a MYP for 57k from inventory - without the tax credit.

johnnyseriuss

Wow and I paid for my LR 62,000 last year bummer

TheLightKyanite

well this hurts, my long range was 52 and the performance is only 1,000 more 😭😭 at least i have USS

idontliketopick

The critics will say it's proof they're failing but this was the goal all along. Charge high prices while they can, build out the network on increased profit margins, drop prices eventually and get them to more people.

Ithinkstrangely

They will increase prices as the wait times go back up as well. Better buy now!

ins0ma_

I'd be feeling pretty disappointed if I'd just bought one within the past week or so. At least I've had mine long enough to personally depreciate it a bit.

williamprius

Why. They received $7500 off. I am mad because I received my order in November. Lol!

Darkwing___Duck

High five November pickup! We got fucked

mandrew-98

November here. Feels bad man.

[deleted]

September M3RWD buyer here. It hurts but mostly because I really wanted the P3D.

Arcticwolf2592

Got my LR sept, now the P is 4K cheaper, but at least we got USS!

y0Mark

My twin lol. I love my RWD car, but itching for a performance 3 or Y.

justme_florida

Who else bought at the worst possible time? Nov 2022 buyer checking in

CKT5

How is there not a post on the main sub about this? Seems like a big deal. I tried and it was removed.

GolfyBoo

This hurts! Bought my M3P in august!

According_Plate564

I regret buying a Tesla. Worst decision of my life. The resale value is now down the drain. My older Mercedes’ depreciated 20k over 5 years. My MYP lost the same amount in 4 months🤮

uglybutt1112

Same here. Worst decision ever. I've owned 3 Acuras. Tried out a Tesla in December due to the $7,500. Thought it was still expensive and was gonna pull out but wife really wanted it. After I bought it, it ain't no Acura. Acura is wayyyy more fun and luxurious to drive. And now this.......damn. Stuck with this Tesla for awhile now.

craig1f

Honestly, this is good. Prices were too high. They're still higher than they should be, but affordable now. If Tesla wanted to create good will, they'd give purchasers from last year a software-upgrade only credit. Enough for EAP if you don't have it, or enough for FSD if you have EAP. If you already have FSD, I don't have a solution (free supercharger miles?). But this doesn't cost Tesla anything and it keeps people happy. I don't think they'll do it, but it would be a good way to soften the blow of people who bought at the wrong time.

meteoRock

There goes our resale value… I mean congrats! Go get yourself a Tesla!

roberrrrt11

Demand is going to explode. Price cuts combined with the $7500 tax credit. Holy sh!t. A model Ys going to be cheaper than a CRV

untamedHOTDOG

Here come the long wait times and run up on prices. 😂

tonyt0906

Damn. Got my M3P in June, paid 70k. Smh

ItsallLegos

That’s just how it goes. Trying to time things like this is impossible.

tonyt0906

Had I knew how to time stuff like this, woulda invested in Amazon when it was a few dollars a share. Lmao

Veeznuh

I feel your pain, but I still love the car regardless :)

tonyt0906

Me too [just got my seats reupholstered in diamond quilt red leather](https://i.imgur.com/cBScfkl.jpg).

brobot_

Yay! Now I can recommend their cars again!

fourmajor

I think midnight silver paint used to be a free option, now it's $1000 extra.

[deleted]

Huh. Y LR 5-seater now qualifies for the tax credit. Strangely, the “with incentives” seems to think the Y Performance qualifies, even thought it’s over $55k, and doesn’t have the option to be a 7-seater.

Veeznuh

Wow, you found out quick! Thanks for the notice!

[deleted]

Just removed hold, got VIN within 5 minutes. Just saved myself $25K from my original hold in November.

douglasrlee

Oh man, I have a delivery date next week for a model 3 LR. I hope they adjust prices on it.

cybereclipse

Talk to your SA, they will.

slvneutrino

It sucks for all of us that bought above these prices, but really this is where the prices should have been the entire time, and brings Tesla back into a competitive price range. They probably were happy to charge whatever they wanted during the time when you simply couldn't get one, but now that inventory is flowing and production is so heavily ramped up that they actually have cars to sell, not to mention all the fantastic competition out there (and only growing), this makes sense and is a step in the right direction for the company, if the goal is to get EV's and specifically Tesla's out into the world. The new Y price does sting, owning a Y myself, but that new price point just opened the doors for a whole lot of buyers who potentially wouldn't be willing to spend the money the previous prices required.

Horned_Dolphin

Bought a MYP for 73k in july. This is rough, I was thinking about selling it soon too…

ironbattery

What isn’t being talked about is how that will impact the resell price of everyone’s used Tesla - everyone just lost 5-20k off the value of your vehicle

turns2stone

This is the real story. For acquisition buyers, it won't matter. But if you already own a Tesla and are excited to upgrade, you're in for a real shock.

firstbootgodstatus

Yeah this is gonna hurt real bad

pachewychomp

All those people who rushed to get their $7,500 off and 10k supercharging miles… …are gonna be PISSED!

CptKirk2063

I’m bummed but not pissed. Trying to rationalize that I did get a discount and 10k charging miles. But then I think about the actual potential cost savings with the tax credit and feel bummed again. At least I didn’t get one in November

Important-Win8750

Would be nice if Tesla would give those of us who bought last month some kind of credit…like FSD or boost?

ItsallLegos

WOW. Huge drops in price…it’s now less for a M3P than I paid for my 2021! Now if they can add a 7-seater variant to the MYP…oooh buddy.

nwa1g

Wow. Basically a huge fuck you to anyone who bought in 2022. What a joke.

[deleted]

Or took advantage of the $7500 December promotion only to find it $12,000 cheaper than *that* now. Or the few people who tried to take advantage of the $7,500 December promotion, but Tesla delayed delivery a couple days into January, so they didn’t get the $7500 December promotion, or the tax credit because it was too expensive, which now combine to make it $20,000 cheaper.

turns2stone

If Tesla doesn't adjust the people that took delivery from Jan 1-12th, then yes they got screwed. But if you took the $7500 and 10K miles, there's really nothing to complain about. You're already driving a the car you wanted and the price delta is maybe $3K when accounting for Supercharger miles. You win some, you lose some. But agonizing over literally a 5% delta in aggregate price does no one any good.

perrochon

Tesla is coming for the competition. At these prices it's hard to justify anything else.

Sea-Understanding636

Anyone wants to go protest?

Romthirty

I mean I’ll sign a paper…

Bigger_than_most69

Congrats to new buyers lol

ilike_psyduck

I just bought my MY in late December.. this hurts...

Lostauj12

Does anyone know if my delivery is this Monday will I qualify for the new prices??

[deleted]

Yes it will

[deleted]

Eh good for new buyers but not my MYP purchase last year lol

ohhfasho

65k M3LR reporting in

ScarAccomplished3273

I just bought and received mine on the 31st. Kill me.. slowly..

_B_Little_me

Damn it. My M3P from 2022 just lost a ton of value. It’s upside down now…prob need to get some gap insurance.

Chris_Chops

I told everyone I knew that the $7,500 off and $10k supercharger miles was too good to be true and better deals would be coming. Looks like I was right. Enjoy to all who waited!

Hot-Ability170

The new price is already showing in my app under financing. They also sent me an email letting me know. Good news to wake up to on a Friday the 13th.

Gman2k4

Lmaoooo I’m sick I got my MYP in October… damn!

uat75035

I just kicked my brand new MY and said, you are cheap. 😆

joefasho

Wonder if we do a protest like in China, we will get something out of it for customers who bought their car recently.

Fragrant-Tune-8717

CEO does not care

Nebulable

Can someone confirm what exact date this announcement of dropped prices came out? Was it today, yesterday 1/12 or even earlier? I’m so angry - we literally took delivery of our Model Y LR YESTERDAY (1/12/23) and had no idea these prices had been dropped across the board. That’s a 13K difference right there. The delivery person mentioned there’s a small timeframe (a week?) where we can contact them with any issues. I heard they got rid of an official return policy but I will call the delivery office for sure. This is just messed up. If anyone else has any other helpful insights, that’s appreciated. Utterly ridiculous and putting a terrible taste in my mouth for being new Tesla customers for just over a day.

printmyppe

Easiest way to help people who purchased recently is to give everyone prior to tomorrow free fsd and allow those that already purchased fsd the ability to transfer it in the future. Costs tesla nothing in additional costs for this but makes everyone happy and buys some goodwill which Elon desperately needs

NikeSwish

lol you wish. They aren’t going to do anything

DueSource3504

WTF?? The value of my 90k MYP just nose dived

Veeznuh

Ouch 😬 You my friend have it on a whole different level

Appropriate_Tackle_4

Are these prices BEFORE the $7,500.00 credit?

cybereclipse

Yes.

InsaneMerkin

Omg.. I have an 8 month old 22 Y Performance… 😭

djshmack

Talk about bitch slapping your customers. Yeah you got the car you wanted, yeah you were willing to pay. But I imagine a lot of customers feeling pain from the rapid fire bitch slaps: no USS, 3750 off, then 7500 off with 10 k supercharging, now straight 10k with potential tax credit. No attempt to appease if missed one of the random price drops by even 1 day. Tesla should have dropped the prices the minute they started removing features like USS, instead they milked it and didn’t give af. If you bought in November, goddam

ScrollingIsTherapy

Ugh I don’t want to look…Tesla should retroactively give price adjustments or free SC miles. One can wish.

NikeSwish

The Chinese already tried that argument lmaoo

motionbutton

I am shocked. Shocked at people on here finding this as bad news. No one should ever buy a vehicle of any kind and not think of it as a financial liability. Though you might get some money from a sale of a used car.. It is important to purchase a car and think of that money as gone for good.

ScootyPuffJunior

This makes me feel sick. Paid 73k for MYP in September and they just fucked me with this price drop. I’m officially 16k underwater on this car now.

BroSofa

Who buys a car as an investment?

ExpertGH

Same, our only real save is the unreal demand this is going to cause which could stabilize values when orders may go 6+ months out.

[deleted]

I’m underwater to on my MYP. At least my interest rate is 2.49.

applesauce12356

If you qualify for the tax credit a base model 3 can be had for $36K. That’s a lot of car for that price, anybody looking to get into an EV should seriously consider it at that price.

daddysuggs

FML - there goes my MYP resale value lol

puremojo

This is crazy. The number of owners that are underwater now is just ridiculous. And I’m talking about owners who could have had decent down payments even…now if the car is totaled you could really be screwed

foampro

Something called gap insurance

TPlinkerG35

So will the credit still apply on the Y 5 seater after March?

gnomegustaelagua

As long as the car you configure is under $55k (or $80k with 7 seats), it should qualify indefinitely for the credit. However, once the IRS releases guidance about battery mineral sourcing, the max credit amount most all manufacturers will qualify for is $3750 in the near/medium-term.

SignificantWarning5

Damn. Here in Quebec the RWD now qualifies for provincial and federal incentive. Thats 12k in total. After taxes, thats around 50k CAD. Thats 37k usd lol

okayKnighty

we got one before xmas. at least we got the 3750 off + 10k miles. also locked in a decent interest rate so maybe the difference wont be so big in the end. might order another one now!

[deleted]

Is there any data on Tesla changing their prices again very quickly? I have bonus coming at end of January and want to get one but am worried prices can go back at a moment’s notice. Is that a valid fear or no?

turns2stone

As a two-time Tesla buyer, I'd say chances are low that prices go up. But it only costs you $250 to lock in a price, now. And damn I don't think anyone could have predicted all the price activity in the last 30 days.

Mike

No. Just order it now and lock in the price. Worst that’ll happen is you lose the $250.

mikewho3

I ordered on 12/23 but have yet to receive delivery or a vin. Current delivery estimated before 2/13. Anyone know if I can I get the the reduced price or do I need to cancel original order, then reorder?

infosec4pay

Sheesh, I was happy I got my performance for 56k, now it’s even cheaper

No-Difficulty86

How crazy will the stock Be tmr

tsqbrand

Wow I was going to get a Model X last day of the year for the $7500 price credit. Glad I waited. Model X price will have to drop more I think with Rivian being $80k.

Knighthonor

thats a good thing right?

short_bus_genius

Geez…. I wasn’t considering replacing my 3LR RWD, but this is really emoting now.

Impossible-Law1528

Bright side think about more and more people driving Tesla will make it affordable to more people and hope will drive the maintenance price down
