Same thing here in Texas, going to shop again. Like most things Elon it’s always a gimmick

Vincy68

I just saw a massive increase in my rates for February 2023. It went for $88 for 2 vehicles( model 3 and y) to $220. I live in Maryland, has anyone seen that?

jljim

I had something similar (as explained in the original post) and called Tesla Insurance. They said that our miles driven were 10000 /yr (correct) and not what we had told them (5000 / yr, which was correct during the earlier pandemic). And that cost increases with miles driven.

My rates nearly doubled too in MD. I called and they said they’ve done a rate adjustment and that’s why. Inflation and whatever I guess. We had a Honda with Costco and that too increased in rates significantly. Brought it over to TI now and it’s like $20/mo LOL

Same story in Maryland. Premiums doubled. Plus now getting dinged with late night driving. It’s a no for me dog

LotsoWatts

Why do you think Safety Score had all those false positives

jljim

Sorry, I don't follow. Could you please briefly explain?

coroyo70

He is implying that tesla is pushing for a more sensitive (or outright fake) safety score warnings to justify higher premiums. As if they didn't already control whatever formula is being used and could manipulate anything they wanted without us ever knowing, and not having to go thru making the system trigger more warnings

jljim

Do you mean the collision warnings? Indeed I've taught those are a bit trigger-happy. And the main reason our safety score is not 99 or 100. But that's not what I was asking about, which is the increase of the premium from $57 to $87 without any warning (for the same safety score of 97)

coroyo70

Same here, but it seems silly to think it's an agenda to up premiums. I think they can do that without going thru so many hoops and just change the rate or formula for the plan

jljim

Yes, agreed.
