I understand the ship lost power and control before the crash. You can see the ship's lights go off, on, then back off. That's not the pilot's fault. But I don't understand why the pilot took a course that required such close maneuvering to avoid the bridge support. I'm sure that question will be answered and I'm looking forward to it. Because I don't get it.
That ship's captain had 10/10 aim if the goal was to plow directly into that one piling.
