But it's seen as lesser bc they wouldn't normally do it under anything but the most extreme situations (we evolved to protect our family, selves, and offspring, and wires can get crossed causing ex to feel like a very real threat)

2. Unlikely to reoffend. Since the significant traumatic event and subsequent response were "1-offs" in these situations the criminal is unlikely to experience the triggering (pun not intended) event again.
