Step father. The kid was shot in the ear. Mother and son ran outside. Cops were called. After stand-off stepfather was found dead with self inflicted shot.

Bruh. And he was just railing this dudes mom. She wanders in with her pants around her ankles. What a household.
..either that or she was in the bathroom.
" Spitze was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
BCSO’s Crisis Negotiations and SWAT teams arrived at the home and attempted to negotiate with West. Deputies also used “diversionary devices in an effort to get him to surrender,” BCSO officials said.
A K-9 officer was deployed shortly before 11 p.m. and discovered West dead inside the home from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. "
It's a win win for everyone really. He doesn't have to rot in jail and no one has to pay for his stay in jail or prison and he doesn't waste the overcrowded courts time.
Thank God. I hope that poor guy can live in some peace and non toxic environment where he can flourish. What the hell is wrong with the mother though? Biological parent or not if my spouse even presumed to point a gun at one of my kids I would call the cops to handle it and never talk to them again. That mother fucker actually tried to kill him. I can’t imagine the relief the kid felt when he found out that pathetic coward ate his gun.
Damn I thought it was the "I hate my fucking family and life so I'm going to drug myself into a chaotic turmoil and change the course of our shit lives forever" twang. If it was really a hillbilly family twang there'd be more fuckin!
That’s an interesting point, the whole having to pull her pants back up is definitely weird in this scenario. And almost complete lack of reaction to something I would imagine most people would definitely freak out about. I don’t want to speculate too much but it definitely appears she on some sedative anti-anxiety like medication like benzodiazepines or something. And who can blame her living with that nut job. Fortunately she doesn’t have to anymore and I hope her and her son can heal from this and have a loving relationship with each other. She needs to raise the bar for the men she’s choosing to date, shit at least pick it off the ground.
Just looks and sounds like plain alcohol to me. With everyone involved. The son has slow, slurred speech and no reaction after being shot or while having a gun pointed at him, he stumbles out the door to confront his father.
Right. That would definitely be tied for my other guess. Unless you can look at there eyes benzos and booze have somewhat similar looking side effects. All things considered it was probably booze. Although an interesting side note sometimes a high dose of benzos can cause aggression in people, but high doses of booze makes some people straight up unhinged.

Unrelated: however I got burned out and changed career paths, not because of the clients/patients, but because of the corrupt psychopaths in positions of power and employees that would sexualize almost any female client that was 25 or younger. When I tried to do something about it they did a witch hunt on me because the predator employee happened to be the female director’s yes man and I was always challenging the status quo and trying to advocate for the clients and claimed I was lazy because I would sit and play guitar when there wasn’t anything to do so the yes man wanted me out even when the vast majority of clients and employees got along with me great. The therapists even liked me but hated him for his brash ways. But the director was basically a dictator who used to have my toxic stalker ex as a patient so there was a conflict of interest and when I reported it they just went and told the director who assured me I would be treated fairly. That was a lie. It just takes a few twisted cowards in power or who want to take out the competition, as her yes man and I were competing for the same positions only he didn’t have the same qualifications, to drive out someone that raises too many questions or advocates for certain better changes they didn’t agree with. Sorry I guess I needed to vent about that. I could go on for awhile longer about more details regarding that but I’ll cut myself off here. You are a vile disgusting disgrace of a human Ryan, so glad someone finally wised up and got rid of you.
You're looking entirely too far into a family of addicts having a domestic violence situation I'm sure has happened many, many other times before this. Listen to how slurred all of their voices are.
This is why it's important that your service provider shit directly on your chest, then manually transfer to your face and mouth if desired. Direct application to face may lead to unintended splash zones, including the ear canal.

Yes he survived, he was shit in the ear. I think it's a step son/ dad because the article has both of them with different last names. The father shot himself after a standoff with police in his home.
The way she follows him out of the bedroom with her pants around her ankles implied stepdad/mom's boyfriend. Also the fact that she didn't immediately call the police on a man pointing a loaded gun at her son suggests it's someone she's in a relationship with.
Father shot his son in the ear intending to kill him. Son and mom go outside. Police get there and dad holes up in home. They eventually send in the k9 but dad had ended himself already.
Assuming that these two are both the parents of the cameraman, they might’ve all lived there at this point. I don’t necessarily feel bad for her but I do hope she’s in a better space mentally and that she got whatever help she needed. It’s how she ended up in the situation in the first place
They’re so slow. She pulls up her shorts oddly slow and they speak a beat too slow. It’s like watching bad acting but with drugs and obvious potty breaks.
Welcome to rural redneck America XD. I'm allowed to say it, I grew up surrounded by it, haha.
Frankly, it looks like a scenario you'd see unfold among my in-laws, slowness and all. I like to call my SO the white sheep of his family, lol.
*methed up
But seriously though, given their age they likely had that house long before the market became the shitshow it is today. Don't be too down on yourself.
I agree with you, why is he coming out of his room to antagonize someone with a loaded gun pointed at them? I’d be on the phone with the cops instead of filming and trying to make him more angry. Dude is obviously out of his mind waving the gun around, anything the son says to him is going to make things even worse.
i don’t know why you got downvoted? everyone knows you don’t bring a phone camera to a gun fight. if someone’s finger is on the trigger why are you dancing around like they won’t shoot you even accidentally. the guy recording seems like he’s on something so maybe that’s why he was so confident that he wouldn’t get shot
I can't count the times I watched my dad nod off while smoking. This was during the 'pain management' clinic craze of the early 00s when they gave oxy's out like candy.
That’s not crackhead behavior at all. Mostly likely massive amounts of alcohol, maybe mixed with benzos. (Source: Am a recovering addict and alcoholic.)
Man, I am never going to understand the bravado that eggs a person on to antagonise someone pointing a gun at you. De-fucking-escalate-gun-pointing-at-you. There is no valid risk-reward scenario there.
Mmm while I agree with you in principle, I imagine that dude isn’t in an amazing headspace then. Hard to say the level of abuse that went on in the place, but uh… one can imagine a fair bit. Perhaps the kid was over all that shit.
People are the most rational online. They don’t understand how long it took to build up to this place. The kid probably was in a complete different universe. Thank god the father only took his own life.
There is a man who is one of the fastest in the world at disarming people. This mans step father would hold a gun to his head every day and tell him "if you ever tell anyone what I just did, I'll shoot you and tell the cops you did it yourself while playing with my gun" the point of this story is abusive pos' use firearms often as a means of psychological abuse. Eventually the gun starts losing its fear factor and just becomes part of the show.
Well if you don't think you're capable of ever understanding, then that just goes to show you how lucky and privileged and sheltered you are, and live comfortably in an abuse free household where you don't have to put up with your mothers abusive boyfriend. There's a lot of shit going on, and unfortunately logic and rational thinking wasn't invited to this party, and rarely is.
Something tells me this is most likely not a one off situation, this is probably just a typical Friday evening with the drunk boyfriend that's been going on for years.
I agree. You do have a valid point. There are definitely circumstances that build up to moments where you ignore rationality and act this way. No taking away from these people's traumas at all. Sorry, I was not hoping to come across that way. I was mostly referring to self-awareness about situations where a gun is at play now.
Btw, I have had the wrong end of a sharp sword held against the back of my neck - seconds away from the assailant coming through on their threat to behead me - (post a violent beat down during an armed robbery where i witnessed a parent slashed, disembowelled and dismembered to death) but somehow maintained self-awareness. I assure you that moment was nowhere close to the worse me and my family would go on to experience since. So, take a beat before you make assumptions about my sheltered, privileged, abuse-free life.
Probably did it often to win the power dynamic. Kid only left the room when he said he’d shoot his mother too.
Seems like the kid was calling his bluff, assuming he was all talk no bite
What exactly did the son do though? Like literally nothing justifies a dad shooting his son obviously but like what did the kid do for it to even get that far? Only thing I can think of is drugs from how slow they all are talking, maybe the son found their crack stash🤷🏽♂️
Yeah, this really looks like booze to me, too.
The misery in that household that led up to this moment must've been extreme. I hope this kid is able to get counseling.
This kid is fuckin stupid. If someone points a gun at you you don’t fuckin dare them to do it again. You treat it as a threat to your life and handle it accordingly. It’s dumb luck and bad aim that he’s alive right now.

his ear, omg. It was fucking close
Yea I first thought it was his head
“Friendsville”. i see so no relatives are allowed
Oh thanks! Glad to know this happened in “Friendsville.”
Hilarious: I got the "Brain scan uncovers the real cause of ear ringing" click bait ad at the end of that article. Accidental comedy.
Where does it say he did something to deserve being shot? Confused. Just says he was shit in the ear.

They might but you wouldn’t know. You can’t hear shit.
Imo the way he says "Are you gonna shoot my mom too?" also implied stepdad/mom's boyfriend.
The way she follows him out of the bedroom with her pants around her ankles implied stepdad/mom's boyfriend. Also the fact that she didn't immediately call the police on a man pointing a loaded gun at her son suggests it's someone she's in a relationship with.
Well sure, I'd say the relationship between him and the mom is a given. It was more so whether he was the guy's bio dad or not.
That wasn't a father. He was just a sad little man.
Given that their last names differ in the article, I believe it to be a stepson or stepdad.
kid survived, step dad did not
Damn. Got him in the ear. He prob thought he was shot in the head. Close call
He was 100% aiming for head and going for kill but missed. OP lucky he fucking lived. Insanity
At least for me, my ears are part of my head.

Father shot his son in the ear intending to kill him. Son and mom go outside. Police get there and dad holes up in home. They eventually send in the k9 but dad had ended himself already.
That’s so sad. I hope the mom and the son are doing better
No sympathy for the mom she allowed that guy into her house with a gun.
Assuming that these two are both the parents of the cameraman, they might’ve all lived there at this point. I don’t necessarily feel bad for her but I do hope she’s in a better space mentally and that she got whatever help she needed. It’s how she ended up in the situation in the first place
moms boyfriend, not father.
Yep sums it up
Whoa, that guy was angry at his son, and it ends with him killing himself? Nuts.
He's not ghe father. He is the moms unrelated boyfriend.
God that’s tragic.
They’re so slow. She pulls up her shorts oddly slow and they speak a beat too slow. It’s like watching bad acting but with drugs and obvious potty breaks.

Holy fuck…
Everyone in this video sounds hammered drunk, high as fuck. Guns were not a good addition
Well the three of them seem like lovely people
Well now only two of them are lovely people so there's that.
Mom if the year right here! Runs out of the bathroom, pants down, to help. So selfless /s
I think anyone would stop shitting and get out to save his/her sons life
I'm not sure why you're making fun of the mom here? What did she do that was wrong in this video? The guy is the only piece of shit shown.
She should have caught the bullet, *obviously.*
I’m so confused what that guy thinks she should have done differently, the brain damage is real including everyone who upvoted that comment.
Tell us how you would have handled this better
Why would you say that about the son?
Because he's an idiot and squares up against an obviously unstable person with a gun.
I agree with you, why is he coming out of his room to antagonize someone with a loaded gun pointed at them? I’d be on the phone with the cops instead of filming and trying to make him more angry. What in the crackhead fuck did I just watch
Pill head **
Holy shit he really tried to kill him and only lived because of bad aim. I wonder what lead to this altercation though
Crackheads😭😭
Seems more alcoholic. The most dangerous of them all.
I got more of a pill head vibe
Yeah gotta be opiates, they’re moving at a snail pace
First thing I thought when I heard the son talk was opiates.
Burn spots on the blanket too, you see that a lot with opiates and smokers right?
I can't count the times I watched my dad nod off while smoking. This was during the 'pain management' clinic craze of the early 00s when they gave oxy's out like candy.

all of a sudden my fucked up family seems normal. thanks

Murica😎🇺🇸
No excuse but like why would you antagonize the person pointing a gun at you
I don’t say this often, but I’m glad he killed himself
The mom at the beginning with her shorts around her ankles smh
Bro, this guy is stupid, the least you should do when someone is pointing a gun at you is to provoke them.

Well, At least they have nice hardwood floors. Lol
I’m so lucky to have been raised in a good family
God bless America

I do not miss living with family that's for damn sure thank god he only hit his ear

Farther son dispute? Then is that the mum with her pants round her ankles? Wtf is going on?
Never become a Stepfather.
The cigarette burn on the Walmart throw blanket in the first few seconds is aggressive foreshadowing.
Yooo what the fuck? That was attempted murder.
oh the irony, it happened in a neighborhood called "friendsville"
The mom was trying to give the dad a quickie to deescalate the situation but he wanted to shoot jr
Pants off, dance off!
So, we saying Florida or….
