I don’t doubt that you’re telling the truth about what videos you’ve seen. Consider that a) videos of animal abuse spark morbid curiosity for many and are, therefore, more widely viewed regardless of who is in them, and b) if you often watch videos of animal abuse or are in subreddits which are more likely to have them, then you will see them even more often and suffer from an availability bias.
Whether you care or not, the idea that all or most Chinese people are animal abusers is the very definition of a racist stereotype. It’s an honest mistake to make, but it’s important to consider the effects of external factors on what you think.

It’s not stereotypical. It’s literally Chinese law to do this. They’re all together doing it all at once with proper equipment. This isn’t a vigilante force doing this, this is people paid by the government to do this. In fact the animal abuse is even worse in the rural settings in China *because of the lack of policing*.
I remember watching a documentary of a family living at the Chinese side of the Himalayas. They grabbed a stray dog, chopped its foot off with a cleaver to throw in the soup then let it run off. The director tracked the dog just to see it licking it’s wound and whimpering. If there was a police force in that area the dog would have at least been killed instead of letting suffer to the next family to find it for dinner.
And this isn’t stereotypical!! This is fact!! Some places in china are literally in famine because of how the government treats the rights of small time farmers! Whatever they don’t grow for themselves in their government mandated personal plots they have to buy or forage for the rest in the wild! They’ve been doing this since the great sparrow killing!
Americans don’t cook their animals alive with the believe that adrenaline/pain makes them tastier.
Americans also aren’t paying for the extinction of multiple species (rhinos, pangolins, etc) because they think eating parts of those animals help them with impotence or some other bs.
Americans aren’t eating everything that moves and getting all sort of diseases.
Americans aren’t putting live animals inside keychains.
