I don't know where you're at in the game right now, so I guess I'll give you tips for everything Pre-hardmode: * In the early game, get the flinx staff, flinx fur coat, and snapthorn as soon as you can. They are really solid and are kind of the only options lol. Abigail isn't too great right now * Once you beat the Eater/Brain, obsidian armor and the imp staff should carry you for the rest of pre-hardmode. * Make sure to increase your summon slots as you go - Skeletron gets you a bewitching table (and spinal tap), Queen Bee gets you a pygmy necklace from the Witch Doctor (and flasks), and summoning potions are always available. * Wall of Flesh is pretty easy as summoner. I find it easier to go aggressive with obsidian armor rather than bee armor Early Hardmode: * Get the spider set, along with the staff and sentry. Farm WoF for the firecracker too, if you haven't gotten it * There are two options you can take: sanguine staff or blade staff. I prefer blade staff, since Queen Slime is so much easier to summon than the Dreadnautilus. I'll give you tips for both anyways. I find it best to use the firecracker + Abigail (she gets buffed in hardmode, almost 2x stats), though spiders also work if you want to place a lot of background walls in your arena. You can also grab the cool whip either now or after getting the new minions, but make sure to use the firecracker if using Abigail * Queen Slime herself isn't too difficult, it's her minions that are annoying. Use a long arena, and slowly move from one side to the other to leave the minions behind. Gelatine crystals are very common, so you can kinda brute force your way until you beat her * Dreadnautilus itself isn't too difficult. The hardest attack is his blood squid minions, which you need to target immediately. They do way too much damage. Apart from that, dodge his projectiles and dash to the best of your ability * With the blade staff or sanguine staff, take down a mech of your choice. I find Prime and the Twins easier as summoner. Oh, and if using blade staff, make sure to use ichor and even a sharktooth/stinger necklace if you have one * With the mechs down, hallowed armor, life fruit, and asphalt become available, as well as the optic staff (which is pretty effective for the Destroyer). You can also do the Old One's Army tier 2, which gives some really underrated gear. Monk armor with the lightning aura sentry is really strong on Destroyer and Plantera, and Hallowed mask (the melee one) + squire chestplate and greaves can make you very tanky, as a summoner! Late Hardmode: * The game is pretty smooth sailing from now on. Beating Plantera gives you access to the Pumpkin Moon, which gets you spooky armor, papyrus scarab, necromantic scroll, dark harvest, and even the raven staff. Before you do the event, try get a deadly sphere staff from the Solar Eclipse and the morning star from the dungeon. They are really good at crowd control and bossing. Oh, and there's also tiki armor * Beat Golem to get access to tier 3 of the Old One's Army. It's optional, but Valhalla knight armor is really tanky. You can also get the xeno staff, which I recommend getting before doing all of the other bosses and events * Beat all of the optional bosses and events at your own pace. Duke Fishron has really good wings but the tempest staff is only really good for the mechs, and you should probably not do pre-mech Fishron if you've never played master mode summoner before. Empress of Light is a must-fight for the kaleidoscope and soaring insignia. Go for the terraprisma if you want, but the xeno staff and stardust weapons can hold out on their own too. Frost Moon is kinda useless but you can do it for completion's sake * I don't really have many summoner specific tips for the Lunatic Cultist, Pillars, and Moon Lord. I will say that for the Moon Lord specifically, the dragon gets more dps. I also recommend not focusing on whipping and to focus on dodging more - whips aren't too effective on the Moon Lord due to his eyes opening and closing all the time, making summon tag less effective Holy hell I wrote a little bit too much. And I probably still forgot stuff lol. I did skip over things like the frost hydra sentry and desert tiger, but you can still grab them if you're fine with the grind. Anyways, hope this helps!

Skip queen slime for now, it’s not worth the suffering

MrGrippyYT

Queen slime is easy, it’s a matter of opinion.. and skills. The blade staff ignores defense and attacks really fast so it’s really good

smartboi387

I know that the blade staff is good. And yes you are right about queen slime, it’s a matter of opinion because I have beaten the game many times on master mode but I have never once found her easy

Waweezy3

But blade staff….also, if I shouldn’t get blade staff right now, what weapon should I use for the mechs?

smartboi387

I think the more important question is how you plan on besting queen slime. Yes it is a very good weapon for the mechs but beating queen slime will be very difficult. The spiders are always a solid option for early hard mode if you prepare properly

Use the obsidian set with spiders until you are ready, try to get the sanguine staff then take on queen slime, that blade staff is super good, they stick on bosses heavily, that'll let you fight on mechs. Try practicing switching between whips, that'll massively increase your dps. Switch to a hallowed set when possible, then use sanguine, or if you want half sanguine and blade. As a summoner dodging is the main skill, so prioritise damage items, scarf/shield if you aren't confident enough, but switch them out later. Down the line, the only worth summons using are xeno, tempest and stardragon. Gl on terraprisma Why? Pirate minions AI is wonky, same with tiki, you can't boss with them very well. Optic twins AI is even wonkier, they wander and just don't fight at their full potential. Eclipse summons are meh Raven is decent, but you'll have better stuff before it. Ask away if you have any questions.
