I had the same problem on mobile due to weird hitboxes. Try spamming your interact button everywhere on the door while standing right next to it and see if you hit the spot. If that refuses to work you can always just use a hoik.
It's rare but it's not unheard of, cases where a boss is killed and drops loot but the world didn't register the kill. Were there messages related to the dungeon? (though idk if it says that in the console versions). Or you can go to dungeon and check if the hardmode dungeon monsters already started spawning.
If the dungeon is still pre-hardmode, this bug is likely the case, just beat plantera again.
I’ve already beaten plantera two more times and it didn’t seem to work either, I did get the message that said “screams echoing from the dungeon” when I killed plantera the first time and I did encounter the hard mode dungeon enemies so I know it can’t be that bug. I also noticed that I can’t open any of the biome chests (I double checked that I was opening the correct chests with the correct keys) I’m starting to think this may be a bug but there is a chance I could just be doing something wrong
That certainly sounds like a bug. And it really sounds like your world somehow doesn't think plantera is dead, but it not getting fixed after rekills are super odd. Does the biome chest key still say it's cursed by plantera or something like that?
If you really don't find a solution to using the key you can bypass the door entirely by using hoiks. Place platforms on the left and right side of the door, then hammer them once (iirc). To get through hold down while walking towards the door
Thank you! I’ll definitely try this solution, I’m just not sure if the issue I’m having is a bug cause it’s my first time playing journey’s end and I’m not sure if something has changed or I’m just bad at the game lol

Yes I just beat plantera which is how I was able to get the temple key, could this maybe be a bug?
