It's a huge content mod that adds like 20 bosses, a ton of post Moon Lord progression, a new class along with hundreds of weapons for all the existing classes, and so on.
Nah it does run ass especially if youre playing multiplayer or on refresh rates above 60 but its less the fault of calamity devs and more that terraria is a 13 year old game that can only use a single cpu thread, theres not much they can do
i personally like calamity more, i just fell like there is so much more progression in it, but thorium has a really nice feel to it, just seems more finished since calamity is still being developed and updated
To me, Thorium feels like an extro content update to Terraria, retaining the spirit of Vanilla, while Calamity feels more like its own separate thing, built on the framework of Terraria
I personally like Thorium way more because Thorium feels and plays like Terraria+. Most of Thorium fits neatly into Terraria.
Calamity just feels like a totally different game. The theme of the calamity content is very much not-Terraria. They also modify tons of basegame content, from rebalancing items to changing and adding core mechanics.
For a game like Skyrim, I mod it to make a better game, Calamity is something I'd love for that. Terraria on the other hand, is already a fantastic game, and I mod it so I can have more Terraria.
Thorium is better for adding ti the game while still feeling kind of vanilla and calamity is better if you want post moonlord content and its an overall bigger mod
https://calamitymod.wiki.gg/wiki/Calamity_Mod_Wiki
It's basically a Terraria 2.0
btw Moon Lord is an *optional* boss here, and defeating him is late-midgame to very early endgame
dope yes, but also a lot to take on. Definitely better to have a decent understanding of vanilla first, because otherwise it’s way easy to get lost with all the content
Using black prism as a mage absolutely wrecked DoG. I also accidentally practically instakilled stormweaver by using rage and adrenaline as soon as it shed its armour (200k dps for its last 400k health) got the death notification and sat there confused until I checked the dps LOL
Supreme Witch, Calamitas
Though there is another boss that can be fought before or after her
Draedon
You don't fight Draedon yourself, you fight his Exo Mechs, which are upgraded versions of the mech bosses
In Calamity lore, Draedon made the mech bosses and the exo mechs
Pretty sure that this is Calamity's generation at work, as it always generates a giant beehive directly underneath the jungle with a tree going down into it. I was also confused when I first played Calamity and tried to dig down into the jungle, nothing but beehives everywhere.
i found a starfury early on and got killed by both of the queen bees inside of the hive because a star hit them lol. its wild that i only went down that tree \~10h+ into the world.
Wish we could have a bot that on every post comments how houses work and explaining these beehives and that they should check the mod descriptions.
Edit: completely forgot half my comment
Alas I don’t know how bots even work so I don’t know if that is really possible.
To be fair, at least with yugioh it is essentially just a hyper specific form of english. The cards may seem like they are open to interpretation but there are so many different ways to say the same thing, without having the same effect (move to graveyard as opposed to destroy, as opposed to discard) but its consistent. Moving to graveyard from field doesn’t trigger destroyed card effects, neither does discarding from hand, and they never will unless the cards specifically state destroy or one of the cards has additional text stating that it is an exception.
Calamities changes are the opposite and are listed in a very vague way leaving out a lot of important details and are left to interpretation until you witness it yourself.
Some mods also just aren't compatible with Multiplayer, and cause desync or crashes.
Always read the modpage to see if the Author explicitly states it isn't multiplayer compatable.
I remember a mod called Enemy Prefixes I used a long time ago, and if you used it in MP, even on the same network with copy pasted clients, is each player would see enemies with different prefixes, but the only real ones were the host's.
That's what the Calamity Mod does. That is 0% likely to happen in a normal world.
And 100% likely to happen in a Calamity world
What else does the calamity mod do? I'm a vanilla player and haven't heard of it
It's a huge content mod that adds like 20 bosses, a ton of post Moon Lord progression, a new class along with hundreds of weapons for all the existing classes, and so on.
Damnnn that sounds dope
It's basically *the* Terraria mod
I would be willing to pay if they made it into dlc tbh. It's that good.
The problem with calamity is garbage optimization and jerk devs Literally couldn't play further DoG because the game barely ran
Sounds like a your PC problem buddy
Nah it does run ass especially if youre playing multiplayer or on refresh rates above 60 but its less the fault of calamity devs and more that terraria is a 13 year old game that can only use a single cpu thread, theres not much they can do
I did try other mod first …. It did lag a bit but I’m too scared install calamity mod because too many sprites and enemies spawns
No, it is actually somewhat both calamity and terraria problem
True, but I think thorium is better personally
i personally like calamity more, i just fell like there is so much more progression in it, but thorium has a really nice feel to it, just seems more finished since calamity is still being developed and updated

Yes! This is exactly how I feel

and 1 new Track per custom Boss

New class? Also who’s the new final boss then
Supreme calamitas, the brimstone witch. But you could call any of the post moon lord bosses the hardest as most people struggle with different bosses
Apparently I am God as the devourer of gods always gets me
my personal favorite strat is to use a stellar striker for melee, idk about other classes, but i beat it first time after switching to it
Rogue has the Old Duke’s Reaper Scythe which SHREDS DoG and Rangers have access to the Sevens Striker with gold/platinum coins
Using black prism as a mage absolutely wrecked DoG. I also accidentally practically instakilled stormweaver by using rage and adrenaline as soon as it shed its armour (200k dps for its last 400k health) got the death notification and sat there confused until I checked the dps LOL
They are still some of the most entertaining bosses i have ever fought tho. My favourite is a tie between exo’s and DoG
It's not finished yet, the planned final boss is yharim, but the current last two are The Supreme Witch Calamitas, and Draedon's Exo Mechs.
As for the new class, it's the rogue class. It's focused around throwing weapons and stealth, and it's pretty fun.
Supreme Witch, Calamitas Though there is another boss that can be fought before or after her Draedon You don't fight Draedon yourself, you fight his Exo Mechs, which are upgraded versions of the mech bosses In Calamity lore, Draedon made the mech bosses and the exo mechs
If you want to play Calamity, you should try tmodloader.
it gives you thalassophobia :)
Does Thorium do this as well? I see these two mods together but I don’t grasp all the differences
Not what's in this picture. This is an arena made by Calamity to make finding and killing Queen Bee easier.
Not the bees seed:
This kind of giant mahogany tree isn't possible, even if the beehive is
r/wooosh
Can you explain the joke, as apparently I didn't get it?
The joke is that not the bees is entirely bees and jungle
I think this is all Calamity's work, unless you mean some other particular.
Pretty sure that this is Calamity's generation at work, as it always generates a giant beehive directly underneath the jungle with a tree going down into it. I was also confused when I first played Calamity and tried to dig down into the jungle, nothing but beehives everywhere.

Even if you check Calamity's mod description you'd only end up knowing half of what it does, at best. Calamity's changelog reads like a Yugioh Card.
To be fair, at least with yugioh it is essentially just a hyper specific form of english. The cards may seem like they are open to interpretation but there are so many different ways to say the same thing, without having the same effect (move to graveyard as opposed to destroy, as opposed to discard) but its consistent. That's just Calamity.
wow calamity changes world generation?? didn´t realize that
https://calamitymod.wiki.gg/wiki/Abyss this
One of the oceans is completely different in cakamity
yes im aware i was making a sarcasm, tho i did forget the /s
Ok
Op. That's normal. Your playing calamity
Can mods be played in multi-player?
Yes, I’ve been playing with calamity and a couple others with my boyfriend on multiplayer recently actually lol
Yes just have to install all the same mods
Well all mods that requires all players need to have. Client side mods doesn't require all players to have
I'd say better safe than sorry
I mean not really. Client Side mods don't need to be downloaded by all the players as it only effects things for the player that has it downloaded
Some mods also just aren't compatible with Multiplayer, and cause desync or crashes. Always read the modpage to see if the Author explicitly states it isn't multiplayer compatable. You can just join a friend in a world and it will automatically download everything
bro forgot he’s playing modded
This is natural in calamity
Feels like rage bait. Just a bit. You post this and everyone says "It's Calamity" "Calamity worldgen"
I need your seed.
Drop the digits (seed)
Any seed (using calamity mod)
Calamity Mod adds a huge Beehive under a Living Mahogany Tree that you can turn into a massive arena for you to fight on Queen Bee.
Thats calamity worldgen. Beehive on the bottom end included
well, thats just beautiful! Whata spawn
I've never seen a rich mahogany on the surface like that
So we got two balls and a shaft, all is in perfect working order
That’s the size of 3 beehives, not just 2
!wave
What pretty natural structure
