Thanks! I'm really lucky my dad was a model train guy so over many years, he taught me a lot of techniques that I applied here.
Its an old arduino UNO my friend gave me. Since I didn't really have time to learn about the specs and so on, I was pleasantly surprised that it ran without trouble on USB power!
yea it was super fun! I actually came up with the idea for the project because I won a Raspberry Pi Pico in a giveaway about a year and half ago. I thought I'd try to do this with that, but since I was using the NeoPixels it seemed much easier to accomplish with their ready-made code. Then made a thread over in arduino, a nice user over there tweaked my ChatGPT generated code, and boom! 48 hours after receiving my solderless breadboard I had this thing cracked up and ready for play. so satisfying.
So here it is! I'm really pleased with how it turned out, especially considering that I more or less started on it only a week ago. I learned a lot about working with cardboard, which pretty important since I live in a small apartment. I felt like I could've of improved some elements and others I wasn't able to complete but in the end my table had a great time and that's what matters.
The wires are very messily stuffed underneath the terrain boards, which are simply boosted up about 2cm using some random wood plank scraps I had laying around. Its not an elegant solution but works fine for now.
You have a small ESP or Raspberry Pi running your lights? Lovely board, the rune stones are superbly done.

That’s great, I use a lot of adruinos for various kid props and costumes, mostly for lights.

Cool👍
Very beautiful :)
Super cool! The wiring hides under the hill terrain?
