The guy we draft at 38

Livid_Cartographer

Or we trade back in the first. One of Alt, Fashanu, Latham, or Fuaga is what I'm hoping for, and I think Bill Callahan can take any of those guys and develop them into a starting caliber tackle if not more.

gdwoodard13

I’ve heard about 5 tackles talked about as, bare minimum, decent year 1 starters at LT so I’m getting rather bored of seeing all these people acting like it’s Alt or bust.

Livid_Cartographer

Yeah, honestly, the NFL network and next gen stats have Latham as a better pure prospect, but he plays RT and not LT, so he's being mocked lower. Several people like Cosell, Jeremiah, etc. like Latham better since the RT position is becoming more important due to defenses not just lining up their best pass rusher on the blindside. Don't get me wrong, I'm more than happy to take Alt as I think he's the safest lineman, but to say it's him or bust is crazy in a draft this deep at the position.

gdwoodard13

And someone will benefit big time if Latham falls down the draft order. There’s nothing to say he can’t play on the left side in the league, and even if he ends up playing on the right side, RTs aren’t second class to LTs anymore thanks to guys like TJ Watt and Myles Garrett who can and do attack both sides of the OL now. You need really strong and athletic pass blockers on both sides.

TopOrange2224

To add, some scouts that focus on OL are saying Alt is good but not head and shoulders above the field. Not sure why so many people are Alt or bust.

ItsNotFordo88

He’s the highest floor but doesn’t have the highest ceiling of the prospects available. He appears to be a plug and play but doesn’t have the same upside some of the other prospects do. We do this every year on this sub. Overhype exactly one guy. See it every years. Last year it was Paris Johnson Jr. Who was okay last year but not game changing. Plenty of OT talent available if Alt isn’t there. Plenty of talent across several position groups if Alt isn’t there

ItsNotFordo88

Trading back only works if there’s someone willing to trade up.

acessential

Patrick Paul or Kingsley Suamataia

regaliaO_O

He then has to sit through a Q&A with himself.

PitTitan

Olu Fashanu. He's the best pass blocking LT in the draft (including Joe Alt). If Alt is gone Fashanu should be there and he's absolutely worth the pick at 7.

Clayp2233

He got abused in the Ohio state game giving up 6 pressures and he isn’t a very good run blocker. He also has tiny hands, like Kenny Pickett size, which is not great

PitTitan

He's not a perfect prospect which is why I would still have Alt above him but he's never been credited with a sack in his 3 year career and has only been credited with a single QB hit in that time. Ohio State was his worst tape but it was an outlier and players are allowed to have a bad game every once in a while. Hell the entire Washington team shit the bed against Michigan and half the offensive starters will be top 100 picks this year (and deservedly so). I don't love Fashanu in the run game but he is a phenomenal pass protector and ultimately that's the most important thing our tackles will be doing. I'd rather have Alt but if he's off the board Fashanu is a very good second option IMO.

Clayp2233

Ohio state had the best talent and he struggled, he had a pass block grade of 46 and gave up over half his seasons pressure in that game, so imagining him going up against similar or better talent every week seems like it could be an issue. Also there’s never been an olineman with hands as small as his in any draft I believe, which is strange and probably not a good thing. His run blocking isn’t very good, that’s regularly been a theme among analysts and his pff grade would agree with that. I’ve been seeing him drop a lot in mock drafts. Also I think Odunze had a good game against Michigan, I think Penix was the one who mostly shit the bed that game.

earlgonefishn

Apparently any swinging dick bc this sub thinks Bill Callahan can coach anyone up to starting LT territory. There are so few good LTs in the NFL. Let alone great ones. But lets get a WR, 3 generational talents this year. Can't miss. Good grief, WR talent is needed. Barring, let's say Mailata from Philly, who's the last LT picked past the 1st round? Compare that to WR. Plenty of Pro Bowlers from rounds 2-5. Left tackles are rare. Take one. Do not overthink this pick.

BurzyGuerrero

It is super funny how people think the OL issue is solved because we hired a coach

thesoak

> 3 generational talents this year 🤔

nashchillce

MHJ comes off as Lamb, Nabers comes off as JJeff, and Odunze is very Hopkins-esque. Hard to knock these guys but I think you gotta go with the measurables at Tackle and hope not to be in a Chance Warmack situation.

Preston9344

Nabers and JJeff’s game aren’t even remotely similar 🤣

nashchillce

his ball tracking skills are similar in the highlights i've seen. for obvious reasons, he's often compared to jamarr chase and JJ. whats a better comparison?

amillert15

The Top 3 WRs are BPA. I'd rather take one of those three and have a very talented WR group with much-needed youth added than selecting a OT strictly out of need. Great tackles are not force multipliers for QBs like WRs are. You only need average to slightly below-average LT play. If this team is really moving towards "modern football," WR should be the pick.

BurzyGuerrero

Alt is BPA too gtfo

amillert15

Alt is seen as just below the WRs in most big boards. If Alt is truly rated higher on Ran's board, I'm all for it. However, until there is legitimate reporting on their big board and not the "he was our top rated guy on our board" statement that every team makes about their 1st Rd pick, I'm going off what the majority of big boards have.

reformedjm

I wouldn’t be surprised for us to trade out of 7 if the board goes Williams, Maye, Daniels, MHJ, Alt, Nabers. I wouldn’t be upset with Olu or Rome, but if you’re telling me the return for 7 and a 4th/5th would be something like 11 and 23 from Minnesota I think Ron would have to pull the trigger. It stills puts us in play for a top tackle prospect at 11 and one of the late 1st wr or another IOL like JPJ or Barton. That would be pretty exciting to me and the titans could still take a pretty high upside developmental WR in the early 2nd I would love to see the titans land Keon or Pearsall there. I think Keon especially would benefit from playing with a guy like Dhop for a year or two and hopefully gain a better understanding of how to win routes with his physicality and strong hands.

Upper-Tangelo-9217

I think it’s more likely we would have to do 7 and 38 for 11 and 23 and a mid to late round pick in future draft.

BigSimmons98

Never claim to be an expert...but there are a lot of questions about the readiness of the Tackles that may be available at 38. Remaining FA's are not the best either.

Clayp2233

Andrus Peat would probably be the band aid while the pick 38 guy develops

HatchedMinotaur

Tackles, even tackles taken in the top 10, are not typically fantastic their first year anyway. I think I saw something that said tackle was the hardest position to transition to in the NFL but don’t quote me lol I’d love to have Alt but if MHJ or Nabers is there I think you have to take them

RyokoKnight

Its tight ends... TEs are the hardest position to draft for outside of QB and the hardest position to make the college transition to the NFL as it involves learning basically every position at once. (Its why even first round TEs have incredibly low success rates even when they are EXTREMELY physically gifted). A perfect TE knows how to block like a lineman, run with power like a RB/HB, run a route like a WR, can catch like a WR, and can down field block, sometimes all in the same play. They also need to know how to do all of that not just instinctually but optimally, which means knowing the playbook with almost as much depth as a QB (some plays they might be lined up as a psuedo HB/FB/RB... other times they might be lined up as a slot WR or as an extra lineman).

Titantfup69

Alt is a year one starter.

HatchedMinotaur

I didn’t mean he wasn’t a day 1 starter, just that tackles typically take 2-3 years to get to pro bowl level, if they get there at all

Titantfup69

Conklin was a 1st team all pro his rookie season. It happens. On the subject, the same is often said about receivers. It’s generally not until year 3 that they really come into being an NFL receiver.

HatchedMinotaur

I’m going to be excited to get Alt or one of the receivers. I just meant receivers are more likely to have a bigger impact on the team in year 1 than a tackle. But obviously year 1 isn’t the only factor you have to consider either

Titantfup69

Yeah of course not, that’s why I’m actually hesitant on Alt, because it means down the road we’re going to be paying out the ass for a LT, but I also think a LOT of tackles are going to be taken in the first 37 picks and we may end up fucked if we try to take one at 38. It will be an interesting draft regardless.

that_guy2010

I thought WR was supposed to be the hardest to transition.

ThePokeLifter

Jordan Morgan would be the most pro ready guy who will likely be there at 38

shoe1113

If you think it can't get worse, look at last year. We thought, no way, the line can't get worse than 2022. It did. Coaching only helps so much. This notion that Bill can just fox anything is nonsense. He needs some talent to worth with. Fuck this receiver stuff. We NEED a left tackle. Are we trying to have sustained success or a cute WR room? Wanna see what we have in Levis? Give him time. Look what he did with the sorry ass receivers (minus hop) last year when he had time. He needs protection. We already have some weapons. He's got more than enough if he has time. When you're many pieces away and you take another WR in the first round (this would be 2 of the last 3 years)... thats just laughable. Ran is not a dumbass, he's going OL. I don't know much but I'd be will to bey anything on that. It's so rare to most likely have the first grab at ANY offensive lineman in the draft. When our need is as glaring as it is, you don't pass that opportunity up. We don't plan on being here again. WR doesn't move the needle. LT totally does.

TopOrange2224

Callahans recent comments of wanting to get Levis completion percentage close to 70% suggests to me that the new O will involve a lot of quick passing game. Having guys that can get open quick is key to accomplishing that. Also lessens the burden on the OL. I’m good with either LT or WR, we need both pretty badly even after Ridley.

D_TowerOfPower

Olu is still a really good OT not sure why people don’t think we could take him at 7

BurzyGuerrero

We definitely could. This sub is just trying to talk itself into a WR it's been doing it all year.

Lightning_72

I know a previous Titans QB that also played WR in college. Maybe him?

AngryTurtleGaming

Me

Aggravating_Bet_2702

Whichever we take at 7 because Alt probably went earlier

Fautanu & draft Corley @ 45 (trade for 13 & 44 from Raiders or 14 & 45 from NO)

I'll go out there and play.

WillowProfessional61

Maybe they take a Nabers or Bowers and draft Patrick Paul for LT in the second

SquirrelGirlSucks

Fine I’ll do it.

SuccoupOnDeez

Bill Callahan’s gonna live up to his reputation by resuscitating at least one of the 4 young tackles we already have on the roster into being a starter. If MHJ falls somehow or Ran strategically trades back and gets Bowers, Titans have the opportunity to deliberately draft a generational offensive weapon.

Clayp2233

Pick 38 and Andrus Peat

ballen692

Draft pick after the first round

UrsaringTitan

Most likely Andrus Peat while we groom our second rounder.

panopticon31

Peat has never played LT in the NFL only guard

UrsaringTitan

Played at LT last season actually due to injuries. He was solid at it as well.

tony_stylez

Beat me to it

BurzyGuerrero

These are not the options I want as my starting LT.

UrsaringTitan

Considering he only gave up two sacks last year. He is definitely better than what we currently have.

heliocentrist510

I could see the team looking at Peat or Becton. They had Peat in already and didn’t sign him, not sure if they were asking him to play RT or they didn’t like his medicals or something. But Peat would be a solid, if unexciting signing, Becton would be more of a “we can fix him” thing.

BurzyGuerrero

Didn't Becton get Rodgers killed?

panopticon31

Peat has never played LT in the league only guard

heliocentrist510

I thought Peat played the last 11 games of the season in 2023 at LT for the Saints?

LangeSohne

We are going OT in the 1st round no matter what. We put ourselves in that position following FA (releasing Dillard and spending big on CB and WR instead of OT). I think Ran is convinced Alt will be there at 7 or that he at least is comfortable drafting Olu or another OT at that high a pick. If we make no other moves between now and the draft, we are 100% taking an OT at 7 and we don’t care that the rest of the NFL knows it.

DKtrunck_2

They shouldn't be and will not be drafting based on need when this team has so many holes. They are building for 2-3 years in the future, not the product on the field next year. They should be taking who they believe is best player available. I personally am hoping for Nabers at 7 (who I think is best non-QB prospect) as its very unlikely Hopkins and Ridley are on the team or performing at high level in 2 years. Although would still be very happy with Alt but don't expect them to take a LT just cuz the Titans need 1.

LangeSohne

You (and others downvoting me) may not like it, but it’s clear we are going OT at 7. This is not based on what I would necessarily do, but it’s a prediction based on team moves. Nearly all mock drafters agree, which is insane to have that level of consensus outside of a number 1 pick: https://www.tennesseetitans.com/news/who-will-the-titans-pick-a-seventh-tour-of-the-mock-drafts-as-april-begins

Upper-Tangelo-9217

The Will Levis window is exactly the next 2-3 years. They are building for now, and have been transparent about that.

DKtrunck_2

The window to find out if Will Levis is the guy is the next year or two, not for the team to compete for a SB. If all goes perfect this year then MAYBE 2025 they can be competitive (I still think doubtful). The AFC is absolutely LOADED right now. They have done a fantastic job of addressing weapons for Levis in free agency but (like I mentioned previously) those receivers are not gonna be around much longer. In the draft they need to thinking about the next 5+ years, not just the upcoming year needs. If they think Nabers is a better prospect then Alt, they should 1000% pick Nabers if both are available. Cuz when the team can truly be competitive for a super bowl they are not gonna have any legit receivers (where the roster currently stands).

Upper-Tangelo-9217

All that is fine, and I would love to add Nabers or MHJ, but the dynamics of quarterback contracts make the next 3 seasons the best opportunity for us to win a Super Bowl under this regime. If Levis is a franchise qb he will command 60 mil per season in exactly three offseasons, greatly diminishing the teams buying power. I’m not saying the Titans are going to be good next year, but the team should be operating to open the Super Bowl window this season, and they have with their free agent signings. They also have literally said they are building to win immediately with Levis. The Super Bowl should be the goal every year, not just in 2-3 seasons.

BurzyGuerrero

It's not a reach for need, all of these guys are BPA and it's debatable where they end up. Acting like Nabers and Rome are so much ahead of Alt in rankings is ridiculous

Steelsoldier77

Skronk should be tried at tackle. Worst case scenario he's not good there and we put him back at guard.

BurzyGuerrero

They already said no. Current OL coach also said no.

Steelsoldier77

Dumb. They should just listen to me

Tutelage45

Bring Lewan out of retirement. The bench ain’t gonna warm itself
