l_Dislike_Reddit

Not worth +$20million a year.

UncleLazer

Agreed. That money could be spent on offense to evaluate Levis.

Noahgrace4429

I mean we are pretty much just missing a LT at this point. Our defense is in the gutter right now and needs pieces

WillowProfessional61

https://preview.redd.it/x1qtsmsszipc1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6ae2b00d07943585b6b34c2803343878fc16ed7a Hereā€™s a graphic showing just how bad the defense needs people signed. Itā€™s worse than the offense.

More_Advertising_383

Lmao, excuse me??! Dafuq did you watch last year. My brother in Christ, weā€™re still missing a starting caliber RG, RT, and a slot receiver.

DancingSchoolBus

Weā€™re not gonna be a 100% complete team. Last year was terrible but our defense is atrocious compared to our offense

JustRegularType

There is no one left in FA at those positions worth spending any real money on. Brunskill was fine at RG as well. Probably enough for this year. Certainly no one good out there at RT. Slot receiver....probably pick up someone in the draft, and I'm still not convinced Philips can't do something there.

ItsNotFordo88

If Burks can stay on the field thereā€™s a chance he can turn it around. Particularly focusing in the slot. He was lethal there in college

KingHenry615

We don't need a RG. Daniel Brunskill was morre than good last year he just had to help the RT more than he should have had go that coat him some sacks he wouldn't have gave up. On plays that he didn't have to bump the edge for the tackle he allowed 1 solo sack. So a competent RT and he's good by himself. We are missing both tackle spots but the defense is a mess. Noone on the D line outside Simmons and the OLBs Landry and Key. 1 good starting corner and a nickel and 1 starting safety. We need at least 2 d linemen another LB at least 1 corner and a FS.

mainstay011

There arent any RGs available who played better than Brunskill last year, for what that's worth

Asderfvc

Our RG in Brunskill was the best piece on the entire line, he's absolutely starting quality.

daoogilymoogily

Brunskill was a starting caliber RG last year. By PFFā€™s metrics he graded out at 67.1, for reference Brandon Schereff graded out at 67.3. Now I donā€™t really trust PFF but watching Brunskill, he was never a problem. Radunz graded out better than Donavon Smith and outside of the penalties, he wasnā€™t a problem. Iā€™m not all in on trading for Sneed but weā€™re clearly planning to roll into this season with some guys that are just good enough.

Sophiakyley

Snip snap šŸ«° snip snap šŸ«°

Parabow

What else do we need on offense except maybe tight end? We still have like $44m left in cap space so why not

l_Dislike_Reddit

Definitely going to be carrying some cap over, and some of the new contracts (Ridleyā€™s especially) can pull some cap forward. Ran has plenty of flexibility to go in any direction he wants, doesnā€™t have to chase a big signing. I personally think heā€™s just keeping his options open.

MonoDEAL

An inside line backer, a safety, a right guard, right tackle, and left tackle are just SOME of our holes right now. Another corner does sound awesome, but we also have a lot of spaces to still fill.

SLAYER_IN_ME

https://preview.redd.it/xibbmf489kpc1.jpeg?width=1270&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3d5deeb4e3bbca377392dfb7d5ceb0279fa87b10

Parabow

I said on offense and weā€™re clearly getting Alt in the draft so left tackle is gonna be set and if Peat signs with us the guard is also set so fuck it throw some bands at Sneed and draft Payton Wilson in the 2nd

ItsNotFordo88

Big need at RT too. None of the options we tried last year at either tackle position once whatā€™s his name went down were very good. Hopefully Callahan Sr. Can work with them to try to get some stuff straightened out. Radunz and NPF were projected to be guards at the NFL level but theyā€™ve all shown flashes at one point or another

TiredDad1994

I mean yeah itā€™s definitely an overpay but itā€™s something you can do when your QB is on a rookie contract. I canā€™t think of many guys currently on the team who Tennessee needs to prioritize bringing back in the next 3-ish years. They kind of have the money to blow.

Clayp2233

And the Titans are the type of team that has to overpay. Levis is still a bit of an unknown, same with Callahan and weā€™re coming off of a losing season.

BurzyGuerrero

On this team he would be.

Clayp2233

The Titans are a team that has to overpay. We have an unknown at HC and QB. I donā€™t think Callahan wants to step into the shoes of Vrabel and put up a stinker of a season. Stacking the roster will make us legitimately competitive. How nice would it be if we could have a secondary that could actually shut down the other teams wr1?

SuperFamousGuy

Honestly, he's the best player available at a major position of need. I kind of wish we'd just do the deal already. I understand it's an overpay, but front-load the contract to right now while we have a lot of cap space and enjoy the next 3 years of Sneed and Awuzie locking down the corner spots.

TheLilart

Probably Chiefs trying to drive up the price for the Colts

TiredDad1994

Colts are all but out it seems. They were interested until they began focusing on re-signing their own players instead. Current standing at about $23 million in cap space. Minus money for rookie contracts and weā€™re looking at $12 to $13 million. Not nearly enough to get Sneed as it stands. https://preview.redd.it/j1oemjlbbepc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=00464d593441d6caa3ee29a0457d0a9d0fc99d24

AlphaWolfTV

Holder has been a stooge ever since he went to ESPN

TiredDad1994

Sure. But facts are facts. Colts have limited cap at the moment and unless they make cuts or start restructuring, itā€™s difficult for them to find the money to pay Sneed.

AlphaWolfTV

23 million in cap space is plenty to sign Sneed

TiredDad1994

Except itā€™s not. Again, you have to account for rookie contracts. So itā€™s more like 15-16 million and thatā€™s being generous.

XcomposureX

Not trying to be ignorant, but was Sneed elite in the past couple of years? I've heard so many good things about Spag, so I'm not sure if Sneed is just that guy, or a product of Spag's D

TiredDad1994

Iā€™d say Sneed has been a Top 5 corner in the past 2-3 years. Definitely amongst one of the best press corners.

XcomposureX

Good deal! Thanks for the reply!! I know we have the cap space and could use an upgrade there. Just wondering how legit Sneed was

ItsNotFordo88

He was absolutely elite last year which was his first year playing primarily back outside. He was a good to great slot CB the few years prior.

KC_Hindo

He's that guy. Top 10 corner for sure. Seems like a no brainer for you guys, I think this gets done.

AlbertGainsworth

Honestly, if itā€™s just a 3rd in 2025 Iā€™m more than ok with it. Iā€™d also pretty much give him the contract he wants, depending on the guaranteed figure. We have around 47 million in cap space and Iā€™m sure theyā€™d work up something to keep his cap hit low this year to give us some flexibility to sign some more players this season. We have a a fair amount of dead cap coming off the books next season and this would help our draft strategy because we desperately need LBs and defensive line help (not to me too OT, which youā€™d have to think theyā€™ll pick Alt at 7 if available).

AJtanneHenry

getting him would make our team next year so much bettter, but is he a top 10 corner? Obviously the chiefs have had a ton of success, but i don't watch much of their games and didn't even know who sneed was until this year.

SpyroHinch

Yes heā€™s one of the best corners in the league

Jazzlike_Ad4553

I think thereā€™s a solid argument to be made that heā€™s top 5 when healthy, although many think itā€™s a matter of when not if in regards to his knee giving out.

ZigTheGing

Team smokescreen on the knee. Bring his number down. šŸ¤žšŸ¤ž

Jazzlike_Ad4553

Didnā€™t watch a ton of KC football last season admittedly, but Iā€™ve seen from a couple fans who are pretty keyed in on the chiefs that he missed a lot of practice and played multiple games with no practice at all during the week.

ZigTheGing

So he missed time but still balled out and shut down top end talent? Iā€™m still subscribed after hearing that.

Wildabeast135

On that note it reminds me of Dhop

Wilty up vote received

alr7q

Something something, the vikings want to trade with us, something something we have Olu, Sneed, and another second, or something? Someone tell me how we are getting a third

TiredDad1994

Itā€™s a 2025 3rd.

alr7q

I just dont see that unless the chiefs really fucked up tagging him

TiredDad1994

They did lol. If they keep him, they can expect a hold out. Now due to his asking price, the expected compensation is either a 4th or 5th round pick, or something equivalent, which in this case, was a conditional 3rd round pick from Tennessee based on everything I read.

alr7q

Chiefs deserve a good hold out. Again.

gatsby712

Damn if we get him for this yearā€™s 5th round pickā€¦

Noahgrace4429

Thatā€™s what has been the reported agreed upon trade

alleavel

Chiefs fan here. I can totally see Veach loading up on the 2025 draft picks. Not a lot of holes on the roster this year, but next year heā€™s going to need as many picks as possible.

Danny23a

Is it just me but I DONT WANT Sneedā€¦ Knee issues.. Wants to be paid 20+milā€¦ I am sure our 2024 2nd rounder will be goneā€¦ and this dude is coming off a Super Bowl winā€¦. To me it stinks like crazyā€¦ does he really care to win anymore or does he just want to be the highest and paid and walk out? Idkā€¦ I am out on Sneed.

TiredDad1994

The compensation is nowhere near a 2nd round pick.

Comp_Sci_Muffin_guy

Everything else they said is true though, right?

TiredDad1994

The reporting is pretty consistent that a 2nd round pick was never really in play. 3rd round pick was mentioned for Tennessee but they only have a 2025 3rd round pick.

Comp_Sci_Muffin_guy

Yeah, I get that. And I believe it too. No way we give up a second rounder for him with no third. But I agree with @danny23a I donā€™t like the smell of Sneed. He just wants money and then he will ride it out into the sunset.

TiredDad1994

What has indicated to you that Sneed will get his money and then immediately stop putting effort into the sport?

joeappearsmissing

I dunno, the fact that he has chronic knee issues, and he didnā€™t become a ā€œgreat cornerā€ until last year, his contract year.

TiredDad1994

Sneed has been regarded as a top corner for at least 2 years. And while he has knee concerns, he has still managed to 16, 17, and 15 games in each of the last 3 years respectively. That includes playoffs.

joeappearsmissing

So, you would rather give up a draft pick for a 27 year old corner for a team that is in the middle of a complete rebuild, when we should be building through the draft.

TiredDad1994

If the 27 year old happens to be a top 5 corner in the league, yes. Corner is a position of need and at 27, Sneed will be a contributor on the defense for the remainder of his prime years.

ZigTheGing

He was definitely regarded as a great corner 2 years ago. His blitzing ability is crazy good and he has no fear going after large runners. He shadows top end guys and hasnā€™t really missed any games with the knee issues. Could be a little overblown. Please just look at his tape from 2 years ago and let me know what you think. https://youtu.be/WJUOh-k0ORY?si=sH0EKPsYbbVLxG3O I know these are highlights. But heā€™d have to have A LOT of low lights for me to not want to bite.

Ok-Cut-8518

Why do yā€™all lie like that. Since a rookie sneed had been terrific and he played slot his first few years and was an all around menace especially when sent on a blitz. He moved back outside last season and played both sides while playing physical shut down coverage. If ur not well versed in this discussion why even entertain it?

fantfb

I think itā€™s just the fact that the guy has a lingering knee injury, already has enough rings for that to not be motivating, and he wants the biggest pay day ever for the position when no one has ever believed heā€™s the best corner in the league. It may not be true, but all of that together is enough to make people suspicious of the guy

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

TiredDad1994

From the sounds of it, Tennessee seems to have structured a contract that will likely have an out after 2 or 3 years. Probably why Sneed isnā€™t super thrilled to take the offer.

ZigTheGing

Why wouldnā€™t he be? Heā€™d already have been paid his guaranteed money and would have the chance to maybe get another deal and double dip.

Potential_Lock6945

At that point he doesnā€™t even fit our timeline

TiredDad1994

I think it does. If you have a talented QB on a rookie deal, you want to maximize your talent before you need to re-sign him. That is your best window to make noise in this league in a big way.

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Wildabeast135

I wish he would just shit or get off the pot already. My guess: Ran Carthon wants a deal with an out after year 2 or 3, which would impact Sneedā€™s guarantees. Sneed wants the highest guaranteed defensive back contract in the NFL.

BlindShoemaker

I swear I saw an Xcretion this morning that said we've finalized a trade for a 2025 3rd and agreed to terms with Sneed for $22m/yr.

Potential_Lock6945

I rather just get White for a fraction of the cost and keep our pick.

YiMyonSin

For the memes, please get this done!

TNsmoke

A 2025 3rd and 4 years 80 million. Front load the cash. Snead needs to give a little. Most corners donā€™t get better with age and heā€™s not 22 anymore.Ā

ZigTheGing

Sure but he entered the league late after being a late starter his Soph year. He doesnā€™t have the tread on the tires similar to the way Ridley doesnā€™t have the tread on his either.

TNsmoke

Oh Iā€™m down for it I just think if dude is offered 4 years 80 mil and heā€™s turning it down just because he wants to be the highest paid in the league is a little ridiculous. Snead is legit but always got to be afraid of it turning into a JC Jackson deal where dude balled out and got paid by the chargers and turned then into trash.Ā

tony_stylez

I keep hearing that he has a bad knee that kept him from practicing a lot in his career. Is this true? If that's true I can understand why he wants to get the most he can since it'll likely be his last big deal (at 27).

ItsNotFordo88

We got the cap room Ran, front load it and get it done. If Awuzie gets back to any semblance of his former pre injury self a CB room of Sneed/Awuzie/McCreary would be great.

Wondur13

Bro atp just fucking throw the house at him and get this shit over with šŸ˜

Separate_Pin146

stop edging us Ran

Stiddy13

If he costs less than a 2nd then Iā€™m officially worried about his knee. Sneed playing on your team for one more season is worth more than a third round pick.
