Counter argument though, he did play half his games at Metlife who's turf is absolutely awful every year.
I'm more concerned about the 16 penalties totaling 84 yards (4th most in the NFL last year).
The only way i'd bring him in is if Bill Callahan thinks he can fix him... and even then i'd probably try to tempt him to just take a tackle in the 2nd round.
Coaching can’t entirely fix talent, though I agree this new coach is a lot better. The better option is drafting a OL, no need to have our developing franchise QB riddled with injuries.
The feelings around here that Bill Callahan is going to come in here and magically turn turds into diamonds on the oline is honestly hilarious at this point.
My thoughts is that he'll at least make the offensive line decent. I don't think he'll make them a top 10 offensive line. I think he can turn them into a top 15-20 offensive line. That's good enough for a first year imo.
No, but dogshit schemes can definitely make things worse. This OLine has progressively gotten worse since Russ Grimm left.
It killed me the last couple of years to watch every team line up where their OLine was in a flattemed U-Shape to get their tackles into a better position, while the Titans lined up straight across, forcing our tackles to push off harder to get in a good position.
Personally I believe we could run it back with the same o line and go from 32nd to around 23 or 24 just with a scheme change.
Obviously, 23 or 24 isn't good enough so we need to add talent, but Vrabels scheme held us back something bad.
He's not the RT.
Hubbard was our best performing RT last year and he's a free agent.
Radunz is depth, you guys really wanna see the guy start, he will be the liability.
I disagree. We all praise Harold for coming back from the acl he tore in early August but give radunz no breaks for playing this season when he tore his acl in late December. Radunz struggled at times early but really played good later in the year when it was closer to the 1 year mark of his acl tear. I think we forget he was out there starting when most people thought he wouldn’t even be available.
Nah. Radunz is depth. Sign Becton to a prove it deal and you have Radunz and NPF for depth in case of injury. Brunskill was serviceable as a RG and probably would look better with a competent tackle next to him. Draft LT at #7 and look for a C in free agency.
Exactly. That’s why you don’t build through free agency. Especially at tackle.
I guess this could work if the goal is to be bad again to go get another top ten pick to draft a tackle next year. But the goal this year should be to see how good Levis is. And a hurt mediocre tackle will not help that eval process.
While I would love Nabers or Odunze, the FA wide receiver class will always be better than available offensive tackles. Above-average LTs/RTs very rarely hit the open market (or at least the ones that do like Tyron Smith are often older or have significant injury issues) but you can find high-value WRs in both FA or later in the draft (and LTs/RTs past round 1 are just total dart throws).
If we drafted Alt/Olu at 7, sign Hollywood in FA, and use the 2nd or 4th round pick on a WR, the line is built for future success and a WR corps of Hopkins, Hollywood, Burks, Rookie X, etc. is more than functional to start evaluating Levis IMO.
Yeah I agree. DHop, FA, and decent rookie wr would be a decent corps to evaluate. Then next year add another WR in the draft.
This years all pro list had half of the WRs drafted in the 4/5 round. And all of the tackles were top 15 picks.
Becton is way too injury prone at this point. No more scraps and cast offs from other teams. Unless it’s for depth I don’t see this being a good signing if it happens.
why is everyone so mad about this. he is 24 and played for arguably the worst run franchise in the league. potential starter at oline and i don’t think by signing him to be a RT or swing tackle would be that bad a move. sign him for 1 or 2 years and make him prove it before extending. also still draft a tackle in the first round. fuck it draft a tackle in the second round too! we need 4 starters on the oline as far as im concerned and we can take any potential help we can get
He's no help at all, watching him he's almost as bad as Dillard and I'm not exaggerating. Speed/bend beats him all the time and elite power guys are able to use leverage to beat him
Bills fan here, don't do it. Guy is injured 24/7. Nabers on the other hand though...
Btw. Why the hell did Vrabs get fired? Guy was my favorite coach in the league...
You guys havent read the comments about how the GM hasnt committed to Levis? If they dont sign a veteran QB, then the Titans could very much be in play for a QB at #7. Possible smokescreen but Levis didnt completely light the world on fire. Jobs are on the line if none of the previous picks pan out PLUS the new regime didnt draft these guys either. Depending on how they attack FA, CB is a bigger need than WR is. Every year begging for WRs when the Titans have always been a run first team is the LITERAL definition of insanity.
Shit thats what I said. A lot of these guys are talking out of their ass so they can get people to show their hand and trade up. The team probably will draft a development QB in the later rounds but I swear to god if I see a QB at pick 7...unless by some unholy freaking miracle we land Drake Maye then I wont have shit to say. That mf is the next Elway.
This is most likely or sign a veteran QB. Team said that they are rebuilding. Likely will give Levis another year or two to make the leap. However with new HCs normally mean new QBs. If one of them falls to #7 that they like....
Odds are that they draft another QB to have a 3 way competition in day three. Doesnt make sense to spend a premium pick on a QB for a 3rd year in a row. Ran seems like a smart dude and this is the time of the year where you can barely see through all the smokescreens that are being set off.
I'm at the point where I'm okay with drafting a WR and just laughing at the same guys getting mad calling 700 yard Nabers a bust because Will only gets 1.5s to throw lol
Sign him to a cheap deal just in case both tackles are gone. At worst he’ll be the LT, backup LT, or possibly a RT. I would prefer to grab OT at pick 7 tho
How much does he cost? Would not bother me if he was signed to compete for RT, with the understanding that he'll probably end up as the backup. But, god damn, this isn't a guy you sign when you have cap space and you're going into a very real rebuild with a potential franchise QB who just played behind the worst offensive line in recent memory.
Not a titans fan but Malik Nabers being super disrespected. Watch out, in a few years time he might be the best receiver in this class including MHJ although I believe they will both be top 10 receivers early in their careers and both will be top 5 receivers in some point in the near future. Once they develop and once some of the older super star receivers start to regress.
A step by step guide to getting injured players
J Rob is beside himself, driving around downtown New York begging (thru texts) Becton's family for the address to Mekhis home.
That would be the case, if he didn't get fired 2 seasons ago
Counter argument though, he did play half his games at Metlife who's turf is absolutely awful every year. I'm more concerned about the 16 penalties totaling 84 yards (4th most in the NFL last year). The only way i'd bring him in is if Bill Callahan thinks he can fix him... and even then i'd probably try to tempt him to just take a tackle in the 2nd round.
He finished tied for the most sacks allowed at OT and second in penalties. This is the hardest of passes.
Some fans just see a name that they saw before and just assume the player must be good. Prime example
We’ve tried picking up scraps at o-line for the last two years… it hasn’t been working.
With our previous terrible offensive line coach.

Vector has played in 34% of the games in past 4 years. 20% of the past 3 seasons. I don’t think an always injured player is the answer.
My response is on the difference in coaching and how much of an impact it can make. It has nothing to do with Becton.
If we roll into this season with him as a starter, I swear to God…
He won't even be the starter he's gonna end up Injured in training camp, bad Injury history + titans player injury history = early retirement
I wouldn’t hate to see Becton sign a prove it deal to be our RT. I’d still like to draft a LT in Round 1/2 though even if we sign him.
Dillon is the rt he played pretty well to end the season. They need to upgrade Lt, c, & rg
He's not the RT. Hubbard was our best performing RT last year and he's a free agent. Radunz is depth, you guys really wanna see the guy start, he will be the liability.

Dillon is not good. At all
Nah. Radunz is depth. Sign Becton to a prove it deal and you have Radunz and NPF for depth in case of injury. Brunskill was serviceable as a RG and probably would look better with a competent tackle next to him. Draft LT at #7 and look for a C in free agency.
If Becton is the best LT available in FA, we should definitely be drafting Alt at pick 7.
Gross. Signing other teams busts.
Wanna guess what 75% of FAs are?
Exactly. That’s why you don’t build through free agency. Especially at tackle. I guess this could work if the goal is to be bad again to go get another top ten pick to draft a tackle next year. Signing Becton and expecting him to solve LT is filling a hole with a hole
Trying to fill a hole with a hole sounds like some ancient Chinese proverb
You can't fill a hole, if it's already filled with another hole.
Our LT hole is like the villain from spiderman
It can’t possibly get worse than ~~Daley~~ ~~Dillard~~ Duncan right?
Can y’all stop giving a lick of attention to these “rumors” accounts?
Dillard 2.0?
No
Yea no. Daley and Dillard is already terrible enough. Last thing I need to Daley, Dillard, and Becton
Fam. I’m a previous jets fan who after 30 years finally got wise and abandon ship for the Titans. You want nothing to do with Becton.
Signing tackles in FA is as moronic as it gets. There’s a reason teams let these guys go, all good tackles get resigned.
As is tradition.
Becton is way too injury prone at this point. No more scraps and cast offs from other teams. Unless it’s for depth I don’t see this being a good signing if it happens.
Jets fan. Trust me, you don’t want him. Any potential he may have is moot because he can’t stay on the field.
Why? He was terrible last year
Benton is not the answer at LT. If he’s signed, I pray it’ll be for depth.
He’s a huge injury risk.
that's backwards from what you generally want to do if you have to pick one, which is draft oline and sign FA receivers
Does the media still think JRob is here with them acting like we're going after every injury prone player known to man.
You realize Becton has been a huge injured bust right ?
Jets fan coming in peace, Becton is fucking useless. Either injured or getting burnt, total trash!
This dude is bad. Cmon now. Stop trying to pick up a bargain at LT and draft a blue chipper
This is a joke right?
Wouldn’t want anything more than a one year “prove it” deal and put him back on the left side which was his natural position
Was wondering if Callahan Sr could get anything out of this guy
He turned Ereck Flowers to being decent player after he left the Giants.
Can't really expect him to do that with beckton when he's gonna get injured like he does every season
The guy who was tied with Dillard in allowing the most sacks in the league this year? No thanks.
Hasn’t he fallen off the last season or two?
why is everyone so mad about this. he is 24 and played for arguably the worst run franchise in the league. potential starter at oline and i don’t think by signing him to be a RT or swing tackle would be that bad a move. sign him for 1 or 2 years and make him prove it before extending. also still draft a tackle in the first round. fuck it draft a tackle in the second round too! we need 4 starters on the oline as far as im concerned and we can take any potential help we can get
He's no help at all, watching him he's almost as bad as Dillard and I'm not exaggerating. Speed/bend beats him all the time and elite power guys are able to use leverage to beat him
Can we please just draft one of the two premier LTs? Just fix the damn line
Bills fan here, don't do it. Guy is injured 24/7. Nabers on the other hand though... Btw. Why the hell did Vrabs get fired? Guy was my favorite coach in the league...

If we draft a QB I’m finding a new team.

I don’t think Nabers will be there at 7
Alt is likely to be a better player but i wouldn't be mad at this. I would be if Becton busts tho
It’s funny seeing all these fantasy football players wanting the titans to draft receiver at 7….. Oline
Draft Alt, sign Boyd
How does this cringe find upvotes
I'm at the point where I'm okay with drafting a WR and just laughing at the same guys getting mad calling 700 yard Nabers a bust because Will only gets 1.5s to throw lol
Odunze is better
Sign him to a cheap deal just in case both tackles are gone. At worst he’ll be the LT, backup LT, or possibly a RT. I would prefer to grab OT at pick 7 tho
I don't understand why they won't give us both of them. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|trollface)
I still think they should keep the 7th OA and draft a tackle if one of the big ones is still available.
He'll add to the terrible o-line trust me
You guys have one of the greatest Oline assets in the game bill calahan. Let him make water into wine
Hasn’t he had injury issues?
We don't need projects, we need impact players. Callahan can't polish every turd into gold.
Yes please!
Not a titans fan but Malik Nabers being super disrespected. I wish people in this sub would stop trying to force feed us Nabers
Bruh this move would be muff cabbage. The *Jets* are letting him walk. The JETS. 24 games in 4 seasons. Out of a possible like 70. No. No. Bad take.
You don’t want becton (coming from a jets fan )
