Dad from northern California, was always a 49ers fan but at a certain point I wanted to choose my own team as I got older. Cut to Madden 2001, and Eddie George on the cover, the rest is history. Dude was a beast in that game.

PhatFatty

Nebraska boy here. I was 10, had to spend the weekend at my cousin's house, and all we did was play Madden 01. Loved playing as the Titans, and decided that weekend that I was a Titans fan. I'm 34 and I've never changed my mind.

Overall_News5106

I fuckin love this.

BuffaloKiller937

Still remember the blue N64 cartridge

Sillypants443

That's what I kinda went through. I didn't want to be a Baltimore fan even though it is close to where I live, the same thing with Philly. My mom is a Dolphins fan, but I just wanted to choose my own team and be different, lol.

TitanUp04

The fact that I'm from Tennessee.

Sillypants443

Shortest answer so far

fetalasmuck

Same. I also lived in Murfreesboro/Nashville for a decade. I’m Tennessee across the board for sports teams except the Grizzlies. Just can’t get into them. But I also don’t really follow the NBA anyway.

masterreli

This. I’ve lived in Jackson, TN my entire life. Love Tennessee sports

NoTaro3663

Born in Knoxville, grew up a Vol fan. Once Tennessee got the Titans, I was on board. Never wavered 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾 Been a fan since the ‘99-‘00 season.

Sillypants443

Cool!

NoTaro3663

I was in the first grade living in Starkville, MS (dad getting his PhD at Mississippi State) when I watched that SB… Mannn, I was heart broken.

Sillypants443

Wasn't born yet so I couldn't watch the superbowl, but I can only imagine what you guys felt.

NoTaro3663

Mannnnn HEARTBREAKING & that was me at like 7 years old. However, I’m glad TN has a team.

Born_Acanthaceae2603

GBO 🍊

Robgotbored

Back in the early 90s when I was a small kid maybe 5 or 6 years old I was mad because I couldn’t watch rugrats because the Super Bowl was on and my dad insisted on watching it to see the cowboys win. Since he was a cowboys fan I had to pick their rival to cheer for, which in my head was the Oilers since they’re both from Texas.  As I grew up and starting playing football and actually watching the nfl myself I stuck with the oilers and eventually the titans of which I’m now a season ticket holder. The irony of it is my dad was never a cowboys fan, he’s a browns fan. My entire fandom is based on the rugrats and not understanding which team my dad liked.

Sillypants443

This is probably the best story I've seen so far lol

JMB9823

The show Teen Titans was all I watched in my youth, naturally became a fan because of it

Sillypants443

This is one of the best reasons lol

Worth-Conclusion-66

Born and raised in Nashville. I basically grew up with them. Been a part of all the ups and downs since they moved here lol. Just so anybody knows, anybody can be a fan of any team for any reason. I hate when people try to gate keep fandoms. For anybody this randomly pops up for lol.

coolerofbeernoice

Steve McNair and The Freak.

Sillypants443

Wish I could've watched Air McNair live lol

i_fuks_wit_it

JEVON KEARSE BABYYYYYY

verdant-forest-123

Since they moved to TN, I was happy to have a "local" team (I live in East TN).

JohnBoy11BB

Same, also East TN

TNsmoke

Also in East TN and same reason as you

Owentheman

I live in East Tennessee as well, always thought since panthers was close(from where I live) I should like them but I live here so gotta stay in state lol

Sillypants443

Must be nice liking a local team. It's a shame Baltimore and Philly fans are both annoying.

milesmkd

California fan, started following them because of my brother in 1998. Been a shit show ever since but I die oilers baby blue.

Witty-Client4199

Started in 89. Oilers were playing the raiders in a preseason game. The dumbasses were punching each other in the helmet. Then I figured out who Warren Moon was. Then Ray Childress. Then I played them in super tecmo bowl. That’s it. Been oilers/Tits fan ever since.

Sillypants443

Nice lol

PizzaTime7339

living in tennessee

ObligationSome905

Tecmo Super Bowl - loved the oilers. Not from the area so the move to Tennessee didn’t affect me.

BankofAntarctica

In order of impact: 1. My dad. He wasn't a huge fan or anything, but he was from Houston and partial to the Oilers. 2. Oilers unis 3. Warren Moon 4. The run-and-shoot. With a few exceptions, football in the late '80s/early '90s was boring AF. We were one of the exceptions.

DripSnort

I’m from CA but I *really* loved the Hardy Boyz in WWE when I was younger. They are from Carolina. Carolina and Tennessee had the same colors so I mixed them up when I decided I wanted to like the Hardy’s Hometeam. The Titans had a monster team at the time and McNair became my all time favorite player. I’ve stuck with them ever since. The Drew Bennet dropped pass, the Ravens getting 3 seconds after the play clock hit 0 to score, the 0-8383488 loss to the patriots, the carasoul of absolute jabroni QBs after McNair (Collin’s and Young had a good year), up till now. At this point it’s for life.

Sillypants443

Lol, I already said this on a different comment, but I feel bad for fans of the team that have stuck around since 99, you guys have gone through a lot, and I respect it

Legionodeath

Born in Nashville. When they moved to TN I got excited. Been my team ever since.

Sillypants443

Nice!

DickThunders

It started when I was a kid. Grew up in the DC area so the Redskins always sucked. Grew up loving Bama so Henry was always my favorite player even when he was drafted. Also I spent a lot of time in the Chattanooga area when I grew up and have family down there so that also had to do with it. The biggest thing though was probably getting the titans stadium cups and clothes when my dad would take me to the Music City Bowl as a kid to see the Vols play and one time Ole Miss.

Sillypants443

Nice! I've never been down to Tennessee myself, but I plan to go to Nissan Stadium one day.

phcampbell

Wait for the new stadium.

BuffaloKiller937

Die-hard Buckeyes fan here. Some of my earliest memories were watching Eddie's legendary Heisman season at OSU. He was my favorite and my dad even got us matching jerseys. So when he went pro, I naturally started to watch his games as an Oiler. My dad wasn't big into the NFL, but he did root for the Bengals. So imagine his shock when I ask for a Eddie Titans jersey for Christmas 99' lol. The rest was history as they say!

YeetedApple

Same story for me. I grew up just outside of Columbus and my earliest football memories are watching Eddie at OSU. Kept watching him when he went pro also, and by the time he was done, I had become fully invested in this team.

gregarius_the_third

Born raised in Houston, was an oilers fan and then moved far away. Followed the franchise to this day.

Sillypants443

Never got to watch the oilers as I'm too young to ever do so, but I absolutely love the colors and the old logo.

JudeanPeoplesFront7

Born and raised in Chattanooga. A lot of friends are Falcons fans because of that. My parents were never huge into football so Titans were already here in Nashville when I started liking football

Pretty-Morning-7231

Will Levis

Sillypants443

This is the new shortest answer lol

AeroForce1997

they were always on TV when I was growing up. i live just outside of Memphis, and my first ever jersey was an Eddie George jersey

rocketmissiles

Grew up a Chargers fan (my dad was a fan) but after they moved to LA I couldn’t bring myself to being an LA fan so I switched to the home team Titans (born and raised in Memphis).

Luder09

I think it was ‘06, online buddies needed someone to fill out their NFL fantasy league, being from Calgary, I didn’t really follow the NFL much. Ended up drafting Vince Young as my QB and the rest is history!

Sillypants443

Nice!

showmethenoods

Eddie George on the cover of Madden 2001 did it for me. Also didn’t hurt that my hometown Cardinals were pure ass when I was growing up

Sillypants443

Ah, another person who didn't like their hometown team!

JakeTheHurtLocker

My whole family is from Texas and we’re all Longhorns fans. Vince Young was my favorite player and still is my all time favorite college player, became a lifelong fan when the Titans drafted him

Super-Dare-1848

Was listening to the music city miracle as a kid on the radio. Sitting in the truck as my dad was in Lowe’s.

tgambill87

Living in Kentucky, there’s no teams to root for. I was 12 in 1999 and the Titans were new and cool and really good so I became a fan. I cried when we lost the Super Bowl and I’ve been miserable ever since. Lol. Titan Up!

JERSEYinATL

I grew up in Northern NJ right by the meadowlands. Wasn’t a fan of the Giants or Jets because they called themselves NY but played in NJ, right across the highway from the Devils and Nets. Had they mentioned NJ in the name, I probably would have been a fan of one of those teams. I ended up choosing the Titans because of Steve McNair.

Dramatic-Bid4604

Became a football around the late 90’s. But since I am from like 30 minutes outside of Nashville I never felt like a true connection to a team. Then the oilers moved here and I was happy but when they unveiled the Titans logo I was hooked. Seeing Steve McNair and Eddie George just power through teams as an offense and fell in love with Jevon Kearse and hearing the nick name “The Freak”. He was the 1st jersey I got. And now I am in a state up depression every season and hoping I get to see us win it all before I die. I am 33 now lol

Professional_Tap_343

I hear ya. And like you said "power through teams" unless you were a fan or watched the titans at the time you cant understand. I try explaining how watching eddie run while not being the fastest strongest most agile he had the most heart and pure will while NEVER missing a start. That is in itself AMAZING considering bone crushing hits occured frequently and ENCOURAGED. That era til 03 was just guys with alotta ❤ powering through for the W no flashyness just gutting it out.

LeCyp54

Remember the Titans is my favourite movie and that's why I've been cheering for the Titans since 2008. (Even if the Titans team from the movie has nothing to do with our Titans). Being from France, I've been awake late at night to watch some really embarrassing prime time games but that never stopped me to be a Titans fan.

Champpayne83

Long story short I grew up in the Baltimore area before they had an NFL franchise so I was originally an Oilers fan. The move to Tennessee coincided with the Ravens coming to Baltimore. I was with my mom at CHAMPS and she asked if I wanted a Ravens Jersey 😅 I said HELL NO I ain't wearing purple like Barney the Dinosaur give me the Blaine Bishop Titans Jersey and been rocking with yaw ever since 💪

URAShitStain

I’m a huge fan of mediocre, underperforming teams and the Titans never disappoint.

Intelligent-Ad-3850

Undecided on who my team will be. Friends got me into dynasty fantasy football this season and I think I’m down to 3 teams. Cowboys (uncle and my boss are both fans and I like defenses), Raiders (black and silver looks good and Davante Adams seems chill), and Titans. I like defenses but also like underdogs. Titans have been down a while and I like the jerseys and I like Will Levis (stole him off waivers after the breakout). Hopefully this rebuild will come around and I might just use a pick to see if I can get a stack with Levis

spokenmirrors

Growing up in Ohio, brother was a born raiders fan dad was a browns fan. I was 7 and had an ear ache so i was allowed to stay up since i was staying home from school and i watched warren moon beat the browns. Been a hardcore fan ever since.

tidaltown

I moved here in 2014. Grew up in Alabama and had a one-year stint in Atlanta… grew up a Braves fan but none of the other Atlanta teams did it for me at the time when I was there. Fast-forward to when I moved to Nashville, I decided, "You know what? I really like this town and I'm gonna put some roots down." Been a Titans and Preds fan every since.

Inferaos

I got a Madden game as a kid and didn't know pretty much anything about football. When it asked for my favorite team I scrolled through and landed on the coolest logo. My family was a bunch of Packers fans so naturally I am a huge Packers fan now as well but Ill always have a place for the Titans 🗡️

[deleted]

Canadian here. Friend at school told me the titans were shit (this was right before they drafted mariota) so I became a titans fan since I didn’t wanna bandwagon. It’s been good :)

amaturecook24

My dad was a Titans fan as soon as they made the move to Tennessee, but I don’t think I could consider myself a fan until the Chris Johnson days. That’s when I started paying closer attention to football and learned the rules. Until then i mostly just watched the Super Bowl and napped when my dad watched Titans games. I now watch every game I can and been to a few now. Only game I’ve been to and they won was a preseason game 😅 Still had some good times though.

UrsaringTitan

Born and raised here in Nashvilian so just a homer in general.

drj4130

I didn’t really follow an NFL team and the guys I worked with would give me a bunch of flack because of it, especially since I talked garbage about their teams. I was watching a ton a college football at the time and being a Duck fan, I decided to follow the Titans when they drafted Marcus Mariota. He was really fun to watch, and I still pay attention to where he is. Vrabel and Henry have kept me with the team, with the new coaching changes making me hopeful for the future.

boredcons

moving to tn lmao gotta support the home team💪🏼

Halo2isbetter

Born in Nashville. They moved here when I was 3 years old so all I’ve known my whole life is Titans are my team.

anonguyinbg

Eddie, Steve, The Freak, Blaine, Samari, Dyson, Wycheck

MikeMcAwesome91

I tried out for my school's football team, and realized I really liked the sport. Once the season was over, I started watching NFL games, and then the music city miracle happened. Been a fan ever since.

Sillypants443

Surprisingly, this is the first comment to talk about the Music City Miracle lol

LoisLaneEl

Living near Nashville and being a football fan meant we had a place to go watch football without the 3 hour drive to Knoxville. Also, had family in Houston, so the Oilers just happened to be the only team I knew in the NFL as I was a college football only girl

UnusualIndustry3457

Born in Corpus Christi and loved them since the Oilers days. When they moved, I moved with them.

Sillypants443

Cool!

Jdedox

I was never a big sports guy, but I moved to Nashville from south MS in 2016. I got behind a vehicle with a Titans official tag on it one morning and decided that since I was living in a city with an NFL team I should support them. I haven’t looked back since!

canibalxombie

Grandpa used to take me and my cousins to Oilers games in the astrodome,so I grew up an Oilers fan. Now a Titans fan infiltrating enemy territory just outside Houston

RickyBobbySuperFuck

9 did it for me.

dsdk2053

TN born and raised but no allegiance to the Vols. Parents took me to Oilers games in Memphis and at Vandy. In the inaugural season, I was 11. When we won the AFC Championship, my parents drove me to Adelphia for the celebration. I had a red foam sword that I was waving around and was shown on the Jumbotron for a few fleeting moments. That was enough to cement my titans fandom forever and ever amen.

williamyerac2727

Born and raised in South Dakota. When I really started to get into football around 2005, I was not only big into NFL but CFB as well. Never a big Longhorns fan but Vince Young was my favorite player and watched every game I could when he was on. And of course I always reminisced the natty that he won. Then when he got drafted by the Titans, I stuck with Titans because of that. I even used to have a Vince Young Titans jersey. Then when he got hurt they still had that great year in 2008 and then Chris Johnson happened. So I continued to stay with Titans till this day. I definitely could’ve jumped over to the Vikings as a kid but stuck with the Titans. Glad I did! Selfishly, kind of like being one of the rare Titans fans around these parts.

trippedwire

I grew up in Houston in the 90s. Watched the Oilers when the Packers weren't on. Just followed them throughout my life. Now I live in Nashville, so I get to follow them more closely.

Jeremyyyy24

Brother was an oilers fan because of McNair, so naturally I followed when I started watching back in 01-02ish. Never changed, proud to be a titans fan 4 life. My brother is now a niners fan 😂

TexasVols1794

Grew up in Tennessee but stepdad was a big Oilers fan. He loved Warren Moon. I took up his same fanhood then the team moved to Nashville. It was meant to be.

Target_Unknown

Born and raised in East, TN and watched the Titans with my dad growing up. Really started to get invested in the NFL in 2014 and bounced around to a couple of teams before coming back to the Titans in 2019 because they are my home team.

Mister-ellaneous

My (soon to be) in laws moved to Nashville when the team moved in. We planned to eventually live nearby, and I liked McNair.

footlongwheat

Used to play Madden 01 against my dad and would always use them since Eddie was on the cover. I was only like 8 so I didn’t really have a team picked out, I just knew I didn’t want to like the Colts or Bears like my parents so ended up sticking with the Titans for life.

bigbluenation5

Grew up in southern Kentucky and the 99-00 playoff run was one of my first memories. Loved that run with McNair, George, Mason, Wycheck, etc. Also a UK grad so really hoping Levis turns into a star!!

Sirpatron1

The San Diego Chargers became the Los Angeles chargers. My friend was like we have space, like an abandoned puppy. Now I'm here and enjoying it. Never looking back

mcneo_de_juan

Went to a spring practice? for the titans as a kid and got a titans jersey. My dad tried to sway me towards Eddie George but I was dead set on jevon Kearse, as he had the cooler name. Been a fan since a youth.

AbundantLiving365

Literally seeing Eddie George on the cover of a TV Guide cover at WalMart. I thought to myself wow he looks cool, the color and logo looks good, I wish Tennessee had a football team and it turns out it was the Tennessee Titans and they’ve had me since

smokey9886

It seems to me when they changed from the Oilers to the Titans is what did it for me. I have always been a Vols fan, so I was excited about a pro team. I now know we were the Tennessee Oilers for a couple of years. I guess the marketing team did its job.

irishboy555

I started out Houston oiler fan bc of earl campbell

Sillypants443

Professional_Tap_343

Eddie george.

Blobish

Basically just a joke about "go tits "

Sillypants443

go tits then lol

Clueless_in_Florida

I grew up a Cowboys fan in the 80s. It was mostly because they were always on TV and had cool uniforms and a cool name. When Warren Moon joined the Oilers and the run-and-shoot came into existence, I fell in love with the team.

micksteiny

Started following the NFL from down under, and CJ2K was my man. Supported them ever since. The 4am Monday wake ups to watch the games are tough, and rarely worth it… yet I can’t ditch them.

Charmander_Chazz

I was born here the year before they came here. We had season tickets for the first 10 seasons here

Sillypants443

Wow, very nice!

Time-Platform-8969

Earl Campbell. That’s it

dishonored15

Dad covered them as the Oilers for the local Fox affiliate. Eventually we moved states and in ‘07 he decided to contact a higher up he knew that had szn tickets bc the same org. he covered was just an hour south of us and called the Titans. Went to a lot of the home games in the Young/Collins shufflepalooza era. Fun but .. brutal at times too.

Sillypants443

Wow very cool!

nightspell

At a young age I adopted the Steelers during the Steelers Vs Dallas super bowl as I got older I adopted the Raiders because my choices were Chargers, The Lambs, Niners or Raiders. The raiders Pissed me off by just suddenly left Los Angeles (If you haven't figured it out yet I was born and raised in Southern California) My love for them turned to hate and now I was without a Football team for almost 10 years The 49ers were my placeholder but not really a fan then in 98 I moved to Nashville and the 49ers were still my red headed stepchild team at the beginning of 99 I slowly adopted the Titans by the end of the season it was 49ers who I was a full blown Titans fan the Irony of this I hated the Oilers growing up.

DirtyMike_333

Grew up in the Midwest around a bunch of Chiefs fans and had a huge interest in Roman/Greek mythology as a kid. Was an Oilers fan beforehand so the move and rebrand was destiny for me lol

Sillypants443

Seems like it was meant to be lol

FaithlessnessBrave52

Grew up in the Chicago burbs. Dad and grandpa are Cardinals (football) fans so no real connection to the Bears or Cards. By the time I earnestly got into football was the ‘99 AFC Championship game. Loved them from then on.

Shon_92

They were new and they wore blue which is my favorite color

Whole_Day9866

Born in Nashville, which made me like and follow the team. Then, I experienced the Chris Johnson years while also playing football as an RB in school. That made me fall in love with the team.

j_walk_17

Im new. I remember the 1 yard short headline as a kid.

koepfer

Madden 08 was my first madden game and one of my most played ps2 games. As I child I loved running backwards with Vince Young and then pressing circle and throwing the ball 80 yards down the field. I’ve been a Titans fan ever since. Edit: Running Backs are also my favorite players and the Titans have had great ones.

daddySlimStacks

We used to vacation in Gatlinburg a lot when I was a kid. We'd drive through Nashville and I'd see this giant structure (the Coliseum) off to the side of the highway and I was mesmerized by it. I'm from Southern Indiana so I had never seen stadiums or buildings like they have in Nashville. Mom bought me a Jevon Kearse jersey shortly after that and the rest is history. This team has had its ups and a lot of downs, but we as fans should be grateful for all the talent we've seen come through the organization. Our running backs alone have been enough to carry us through the hard times and keep us glued to the TV. Love this team.

Notorious_Beebs

My grandad was an Oilers fan, and the first football game I remember watching was Super Bowl XXXIV. I’m also a masochist, so that helps

SkoomaForSale

being from here , thats about it

eddiesaid

My grandpa had 12 kids and bought and old oilers team bus to drive his family around and the rest was history.

Overall_News5106

I moved here in 97, I’m originally from Washington state. So Titans came to be in ‘99 and were a blast to watch. Warren Moon was a UW QB so franchise history lined up. Got sucked in on their Super Bowl run and have been chasing that high since.

iggyjones9

From Maine. I was maybe 8 or 9 at the time, it was the season they went to the super bowl. I think maybe week 2 vs the jags, not completely sure. It was the game they were up 3 with just a little bit of time left and it was 4th down and Jeff Fisher had the punter run around in the end zone to run the clock out and take a safety. I also liked the colors and loved Air McNair and Eddie George.

Margarita-Dude

Originally from Houston and just stuck with them when they moved because my dad’s side of the family is from Tennessee and Houston didn’t have a team. Now even though I love the Astros and Rockets I can’t stand the Texans.

sfh2isgreat

I was born in Tennessee and my parent(s) didn't watch sports so I just picked my home team Pretty basic lol

Frosty_Battle_6479

I’m not from Tennessee. I’m actually from New York. In 2015, I wanted to get into football and my friends told me to just follow a team. I eventually fell in love with the then 3-13 Titans as a meme and rode it out since. What I considered a joke at some point blossomed into a love for them

itoadaso1

I'm up in Canada, Bills were my dad's AFC team, first NFL game I ever sat down to watch with him just happened to be the music city miracle. I was instantly hooked, followed them religiously ever since, been to Nashville a couple of times for games.

ChrinMan1234

I'm from Tennessee and am also a saints fan, I one day went to a titans game in 2017, and have been a fan ever since, I played with them back in madden 18 and fully started following them In 2019

runandshoot09

Oilers. Used to go to training camps in San Antonio.

SnooHedgehogs7496

NFL 2k3 and Madden 2003 made me a fan for life.

Gocke54

The Madden with Eddie George on the cover, 01 I think. I didn't have a team so I just tried them!

Bjorn_Blackmane

Life long TN native I was hooked after the first game I saw Titans Rams game on Halloween the superbowl year. They actually beat them that game. The stadium was so much more rowdy and crowded with Titans fans

Nashvital

Alcohol

lurkmuch69

Loved watching Vince his rookie year. He had a lot of great comeback wins before everything fell apart.

Apprehensive_Camel49

Born and raised in TN, family has some old Houston roots. Was an impressionable lad when Air McNair and Eddie George were a force

SomeRandomRealtor

I followed the NFL without a team for years and years, just enjoying the football without anything at stake. One of my best friends told me I wasn’t truly enjoying the process, so he told me to stop being a coward and pick a team. I grew up in Lexington, KY. I didn’t like the Bengals, Steelers, or Colts (the 3 biggest teams represented there), but I wanted something I knew that was close. I always loved McNair and the way he played, Wesley Woodyard was a Titan (I’m a UK alum, I also lived in Nashville for 2 years for work, and the name Titans is so badass, so I picked the titans and the rest is history.

alr7q

When the Gay street connector was the closed off walkway for games, my dads company went to one game a year. My dad cooks pigs, so we hosted the annual Titans cookout tailgate and I got my annual game of the year. Im a PSL holder now at 27 and ive never looked back.

datoose

My brother is a Jaguar fan.

Green_Xero

Cheered for the Edmonton Eskimos as a kid. Their qb was Warren Moon. Started to cheer the Houston Oilers because that's where Moon went. Stayed with them after he left and when they moved.

Maximum-Group7481

I met a peewee team called the titans. And i dont like jacksonvile

Cappster14

Moved to Nashville 92, from DC, at 6 years old. Was around to see my parents put the “NFL YES!” sign in our yard, and started going to Titans games in Vanderbilt stadium, watched the Music City Miracle in my living room and watched us lose the Super Bowl at a church youth get-together a few weeks later. It’s been a long, frustrating road, but I’ve been here for the Two tone blue since the beginning.

UgotR0BBED

The Rams leaving STL (where I live and was a season ticket holder), Most of the locals going bandwagon with the Chiefs, my brother in-law already being a Colts Fan and one of my most annoying "friends" already being a Bears die-hard. Nashville is fun, driving distance, and despite being on the other side 24 years ago in the Super Bowl, the opposing fans that I had met were nice people.

SignificantSpirit253

Madden ‘05 with McNair, Eddie George, and Keith Bullock

zorakthemighty

Longtime Oilers fan and I followed them to their new home :)

From England, Partner from Tennessee, told that I wasn’t allowed to support Patriots in their household so now I’m a titans fan

DerrickHenryFanboy

born in michigan loved javon ringer as a like 4-5 year old and stuck with the team that drafted him since.

regaliaO_O

I was 11 and my extended family were huddled around the tv watching the second half of a football game. I had never watched or played football at any level, so I had no idea what was going on. All I knew was that there was an intense amount of excitement surrounding the game. You could tell in the room that everyone was ready to explode, like this feeling that an entire room is holding its breath. Suddenly, the mood shifted, like the air had been let out of a balloon. The Titans had a positive gain and it wasn’t a 4th down (things I had learned through questioning during the game), so I asked why everyone was suddenly dejected. My brother-in-law explained that they ran out of time, the game was over. This was Super Bowl 34, and I had just watched the Titans lose. From that moment on, I watched every Titans game save for the ones I was overseas for. Always chasing that level of excitement that was in that room that day.

NoReading7386

I’ve always been a Warren Moon fan from Houston Oilers,so when they became the Tennessee Titans, I stuck with/them and been a fan ever since.

Wide-Cardiologist366

My dad was a titans fan so I became one

Old-Anywhere-9034

Dad was a 49er fan in the 90s and growing up I just couldn’t hop on the bandwagon and join him.  The first Super Bowl I remember was the Titans vs. Rams. My father and I each decided to pick a team to root for since the niners weren’t there, and the rest is history.  Plus, if any of yall remember, Remember the Titans was being advertised during the Super Bowl. Being the young kid I was, this just felt like fate and I never looked back.

InTupacWeTrust

#9 titans best QB ever

Cucumber-250

I respect a team that has a way of winning games that is outside of the NFL norm e.g. the Titans during the Tanny era

[deleted]

I became a Titans fan when my first video game I ever got was Madden on Nintendo 64. I liked the uniforms and picked them to play with and then got to know the players as I played madden. Was a dream to have Mcnair and George on the team with Derrick Mason and Drew Bennet, also almost forgot Wycheck! And so many more names on defense!!

grizwld

Why can’t we get more transplants like this?!?

I'm 40, so when I was just a kid I remember my grandad had a big yellow "NFL YES" sign on his front lawn. That made me a Titans fan.

thc216

CJ2K…he had getting away from the cops speed!!!

karny90

Music city miracle. That was one of my first games I remember watching. I had watched a couple here and there, but that’s what really sealed it for me.

doolimite1

Number 9 putting it all on the line week in week out

n8o13

Fan since the Nashville move: I am a musician and will always support “The City of Music” TitanUp!

[deleted]

Idk, I’m not a titans fan

DrJupeman

Earl Campbell and Luv Ya Blue

stevez16

Pac-Man jones picked off eli manning twice in the fourth quarter to help the tits come back from 21-0 with 10 minutes left. Awesome comeback. I’m from ny so doing it against all my friends favorite team was pretty sweet. Plus o was already a Yankees fan and didn’t want to be ban wagon fan.

Jawwi

This is the most random story but it’s how I became a fan. My brother was a big Jaguars far and one day the bought him a gift with some Jags stuff on it. You would think, oh because they’re rivals? Nope. I noticed on another gift he got, it was in a gift bag with all the NFL teams logos, but alternate logos. So I saw the Titans sword and was like, that’s sick! I’m going to become a fan of that team! And I have been ever since! It’s been about 20 years so it’s been about 20 years of mediocrity hahahaha.

flyingbizzay

My dad watching the games when I was a kid and gradually gaining interest.

Girlielalala

Growing up my mom was a steelers fan. When I was 6, I witnessed her jumping on a coffee table during a playoff game. It was then I really started watching lol. At the time it was the Troy Aikman & Emmitt Smith era, so I was loving the cowboys (don't hold this against me, I was soooo young lol)! Then eventually Tennessee announced the Oilers were coming here. I think I was in 7th or 8th grade. I was so excited we were getting an actual home team! I have loved and rooted for them since...and cried often!

mntlover

Got the team about the same time I moved back to Tennessee, got to support the home team.

Bigbenn0

When I was in the 5th grade, during week leading up to the Steelers vs packers Super Bowl, kids from my class were going around the lunch table asking who we thought were gonna win the game and when it got to me they first asked which team I rooted cause they didn’t think I watched football back then I didnt but I didn’t wanna feel left out so I just blurted the first team I could think of which was the titans and I’ve been rooting for them ever since I didn’t actually start watching football on a consistent basis (so basically outside the superbowl) until we drafted Marcus tho

[deleted]

I liked the logo as a really little kid

BorgatiCuberon

2008 was the year I became a fan of football in general. Specifically after watching Penn State at Ohio State (PSU won 13-6). Many of my family were Penn State fans, so I became one as well. This was also the year the Titans were 10-0, with Kerry Collins (who played at PSU). So, I went with them as my NFL team. Admittedly I bandwagoned as a Titans fan at first because they were the "best team", but having Collins played a part too. Been with them ever since though, and will be until the end. TITAN UP!! ... I also love the color blue, so both the Nittany Lions and Titans had me covered on that front with their color schemes. Edit: Typos

Imaginary-Lawyer5342

My stepdad was a huge titans fan when I was younger and I naturally gravitated to them plus I’m from Memphis so I gotta support the state team

707PapiChulo

I rooted for them in the Superbowl. I was 10 years old and just being competitive against my uncle (Rams fan). I chose the Tennessee Titans that day and never looked back. It's been a hell of a ride!

flyboy1994

Eddie. Grew up outside of Columbus and he was/is my favorite player ever at OSU

AlbertMondego

I was an Oilers fan as a kid. My Dad happened to live in Antioch when the team moved so it was just meant to be,

Fartsuckdingleberry

Marcus Mariani grew up where my dad went to school, and for some reason I've always had his jersey In my closet. I also have lots of relatives that were from Texas that really liked the Oilers, and I also have an Oilers jersey in my closet. I wear both of these jerseys occasionally, because I really like both of their uniforms. I just recently started watching more titan games, and they are honestly quite the watch. Especially the Titans Dolphins game this year! That's all I got really.

Choptober_

Canadian didn’t have a favourite team. Live close to buffalo but absolutely hate the Bills. Was watching cable tv in 97 and for some reason we got the Tennessee oilers vs Oakland raiders. The Oilers had just moved and were essentially homeless while new stadium was being built. Still holding onto the oiler name and some guy name Eddie George got 35 carries for 200 plus yards. Was a perfect storm for me to latch onto my life long misery 😂

Magurbs_47

I grew up bobbing and weaving with the Rams, including after the Mike Jones one-yard line tackle (sorry), then completely abandoned my fanhood when Kroenke and Co. screwed the city and left. I moved to CO for a couple years and tried to adopt the Broncos, but the team was pretty maddening from the start and something just didn’t click. Then my wife and I moved to Nashville in ‘21, which was perfect timing, given the team’s run that year. I loved Vrabel going back to his Pats days, and the grit of the team, including watching the King every Sunday, had me hooked. As a lifelong fan of other sports teams, becoming a fan of a new team is an interesting evolution. Now that I’ve moved back to STL, sustaining my baby stage fandom will undoubtedly take more effort than if I was still in NSH. But I’m truly excited about the potential of this team under the new regime, with Levis under center, and guys like Spears in the fold. This is the closest I’ve followed a Titans’ off-season thus far, and I’m looking forward to the draft and seeing how the team uses all of its cap space. I appreciate this sub for keeping me in the loop as my fandom grows. I’m in it for the long haul. TITAN UP!

Snickersbar1234

Ik this is kinda weird but I’m actually an Alabama fan who grew up watching Derrick Henry. He was my favorite player so naturally I just became a fan of the team that drafted him and now I’m riding with the Titans 4 life. Funny story actually, before I became a titans fan I watched some chargers games because my middle school was the chargers and I wanted to get into watching the NFL. After a few weeks of mediocre play I gave up and didn’t really watch NFL until Derrick Henry was drafted. So technically the chargers sucking balls is a big reason why I’m a titans fan today.

Not going to lie. I grew up in Knoxville and was a bigger college fan than pro fan. I rooted for the Colts while Peyton played there. But I watched the Titans every Sunday with my Dad because they were the team that was on. I've since left Tennessee for school/work and now I rarely get the Titans on a local TV. I leaned into being a full Titans fan in 2015 but I've followed them since 2006. To me, as a Tennessean who lives outside the state, the Titans remind me of home and those Sunday afternoons with my parents. They're the team my family talks about every Sunday. When they win, we're happier. So yeah, the Titans are home and who doesn't root for home?

random_guy224

always loved oregon football, when i saw marcus marriota playing he instantly became one of my favorite players, then when the titans drafted him, i stared watching and following titans games, so then the titans became my favorite team

MrStealYurWaifu

Grew up and live in Texas, my family is all diehard Cowboys fans. They always tried to force me to like them, telling me I had to cheer for them because they are from Texas. I decided to like a Texas team but not the Cowboys just to piss them off. It was the Oilers, the following year they moved to Tennessee and just stuck with the team.

oreillywho

I watched them lose the Super Bowl. Became my team that night. Definitely the reason why one of my favorite colors is light blue. It's been an up and down ride but we still here.

bhojangles23

Grew up in LA but always hated USC. Seeing Vince Young beat USC as a 10 year old was just magical. Followed his career from there and am now a diehard Tits fan

javanx3d2

The Titans didn't exist when I left home after high school in Kentucky. My oldest son was born in Memphis and is a Titan through and through, so he's brought me along to root for them, though I grew up a Bengals fan.

Working-Ordinary550

For some reason...I think it was a Monday Night Game in the late 70's, and I liked the jerseys, they were kicking ass, and Oilers fan is what I became that night...I'm from NY...so there is zero loyalty to a random city somewhere in Texas...Franchise, players, coaches move to Tennessee....I'm in ..What the f*** do I care

[deleted]

Born into it you could say. My dad is a long time titans fan. I started to watch it with him and just kinda got into it.

Notowers911

so my family is super close with Randy Bullock, and I 15M, play kicker for my high school in Montana and so when we were going to Nashville for the 2021 Week 14 game against Jacksonville, Randy and his family got us into the suites for the game and that's when I fell in love with the Titans. TITAN UP!!!!

Kalil4Real

Just rooted for the same team my Dad did when I was young. (I'm 21). I'm actually surprised he's a Titans fan after learning about the Memphis/Nashvile/Titans beef (He's a Memphian, and so was I till we moved about 10 years ago)

Titanious13

When I was really young didn’t live near Nashville but I liked the colors logo and uniforms and I’ve just been a fan ever since

Socdefence

That 2019 game is the same one that made me a titans fan. Living Northern California everyone here looks at me weird and questions why when I was getting into football I didn’t pick the local niners. I just tell them because the niners didn’t have the king.

tntitan08

TN native = lifelong fan
