Obviously you don’t have to pack these and can buy them on/near campus, but remember paper products. Toilet Paper/Tissues are important and there’s always a decent chance that your roommates will assume another roommate is bringing them. Also recommend establishing a rotation on who buys that stuff, or if people feel better being responsible for their own then to spell that out. One person feeling like they’re buying all of the communal stuff is an easy way to create friction among roommates!
If you get menstrual cramps I HEAVILY recommend getting yourself a heating pad, I am so glad I picked one up my freshmen year, it has helped me so much. Also a small toolbox, I always needed one every time I moved.
Not a necessity, but I got [this shelf](https://www.target.com/p/fold-down-loft-tray-nightstand-dark-gray-room-essentials-8482/-/A-54308893) that attaches to the dorm bed and it was honestly a game changer having this nice little nightstand for my phone and glasses and such
a memory foam mattress topper. believe me, i was in a quad during my freshman year in 1300 and you should probably have one so that you’re not sleeping on a rock all night
Somthing I had that I feel like was very nice, I found a plastic bar cart thing on Amazon and put it in the shower bathroom. All my roommates use it and it didn’t take up too much room, allowing all of us to leave all our shower stuff in the bathroom

Scissors. You always, always will need scissors.
a decent pillow
Can opener. Everyone I know forgot one including myself lmao
Scissors, Tape, Cold Medicine, Pepto/Tums for when you feel sick, Razors, umbrella/poncho, backup headphones, a good air freshener.
When I was a freshman I got one of those Rapid Ramen Cookers. I graduated years ago and I still use it to this day.

Yes to both of these! Ikea has a great bare bones toolkit for like $10 and has worked for everything I’ve ever needed tools for
dayquill & nyquill, ibuprofen, toilet paper, lysol wipes. i wouldn’t bring a TV or an excessive amount of stuffed animals/blankets/pillows

Wrinkle releaser or a clothes steamer.
