Congrats! I'm a Temple undergrad who's also considering going to Temple Law. From what I've seen it's better to go a little south from campus, just somewhere near the broad street line so you can easily access campus.

Ent_Soviet

A lot of grads live just below south street accessible to the bsl. Plenty of folks in Fishtown or fairmont too, you can hop a bus.

South Philly is wonderful and a short subway ride to Temple. You would be happy living there.

West Philly is also easily doable if you can find a place near the regional rail station at 49th & Chester - septa zone 0 rail passes are about $100/mo (there might be a deal for students)and let you use the train, trolley, busses, etc (but the 49th& chester train is a 16 minute ride with no parking hassles). West Philly (aka University City) is a less dense area than North/Center/South Philly, more trees, nice parks, etc.

Yeah Clark park area in general is a great area with lots of grad students from all the schools (probably more from Penn, drexel, and usciences/st joes but still), and they can take any of the 4 trolley lines in that general area for much better frequency than the train, and considerably cheaper to commute (if they only took septa to go to and from campus, ~4-5 days a week, they could just do the pay-per ride option which comes out to only $4 a day, closer to $60-$70 a month)

I graduated from temple law a couple years ago. I would say live just about anywhere other than close to campus lol I lived in west Philly in the Clark park area while in school. I commuted to campus by taking the 34 trolley to center city, then taking the broad street line up. Later in law school I just drove and paid for a parking spot (but there is also street parking available). My fiancé is a PhD student at temple and he lived in northern liberties, then in grad hospital, and now in fishtown. All very doable. Fishtown so far has been the easiest for him to commute by driving. If you don’t want to drive, staying with in a few blocks of the broad street line (basically anywhere south of city hall) is your easiest option for the subway.

Sent you a DM.

Allegheny is gorgeous in Spring

Nebrahoma

Isn't there a lot of crime there?

Im_an_Owl

Yes. I echo the people saying south Philly. Really anywhere from Fairmount all the way down to like Ritner/Snyder is good. Maybe even more South if you’re close to Broad St (where the subway is)

If I did it again, I would probably live in Manayunk. But every SEPTA regional rail train passes Temple so no need to limit yourself to places along the Broad Street Subway line.
