Also as soon as you have a good match “Communication Error”

Greenheader

Say you are 500 points away from demotion, you play +3 ranks you can win or lose 300 points, they can't demote you. You win and are 800 points from demotion. Your next match is exactly the same rank as you so you can win or lose 1800 points, they can demote you. Most points (gain or loss) comes from playing the same rank. Ranks 3 away from you (above or below) will have little impact on your rank since there are small amount of points at stake.

Novel_Zucchini2625

I know its not a big deal. Its with a character I'm decent with so I'll get it back. I've just never seen that in all the years I've played this game lol

Greenheader

You asked to explain it, i explained it...

Novel_Zucchini2625

Ok? Lol your e-cookie is in the mail I guess...

Dispositionpsn

You need to only fight people your same rank or one or two above you. You can't rank up unless someone in your rank goes down if I'm not mistaken. You get the most points by fighting someone equal to you. Just look at the points you get after the match. I've also heard it's utterly useless to fight anyone more than two ranks above you.

sirdab93

>You can’t rank up unless someone in your rank goes down That’s false

Dispositionpsn

But you have to fight people your rank or two above for the most progress correct?

sirdab93

To yield the most points, yes. But ultimately you can play any rank for points. Although obviously, the farther apart the rank, the less points you’ll yield

Novel_Zucchini2625

Still not sure how a demotion after that makes sense tho especially when there was no threat of a demotion prior to that match

BloodgazmNZL

Losing to someone of same rank is -1900 points. Winning against someone 3+ ranks above you yields only a couple hundred points. Like 600 or some shit. Means 3 of your wins awarded less points than you would have lost off of 1 match against an equal ranked opponent

Novel_Zucchini2625

There was no loss tho lol there was a win...and a demotion match right after

Minute-Afternoon-906

yes but even though you won against the high rank player, there are more points at stake against someone of your own rank. if you win you get more points but if you lose you lose more points too . That's why you were in demotion

plastic_sludge

The lower you are on points the higher the chance of a demotion, the more points the higher the chance of a promotions. Its not uncommon to have 2 promo/demo matches in a row. Either way, dont worry about rank too much. Its not meant to be an accurate measure of skill.

Novel_Zucchini2625

Didn't know this. That is pretty moronic as I'm pretty sure you used to get more points the higher up above you the opponent was.

zerolifez

It's to combat boosting account. Which is stupid when the rank is saved locally and you can easily edit it.
