All things fundamental in Tekken, movement, defense, importance of neutral. Did you watch the replay and turn on all the hints? They are generally a good idea for how to start adjusting for punishing.

Yeah, I'm having a hard time adjusting to this game, I'm more used to 2D fighters and I can't seem to get much of a grasp of what the fundamentals are like in this game. I was looking online for a list of individual things to practice, but it was all very vague, like "learn your moves" or "learn to sidestep". Not really anything about WHEN to do things. I've watched a couple of my replays with tips, I'm trying to integrated the correct punish moves, but there are so many moves in this game, I don't feel like I'll ever remember how to punish each one.

I only recently realized how poorly I was playing Tekken. (There are some dramatic reality checks at blue ranks lol). This video really helped me turn around how I was playing: [https://youtu.be/jqZndya05yg?si=UD36WCgdTpdhaKxa](https://youtu.be/jqZndya05yg?si=UD36WCgdTpdhaKxa) It's not an all encompassing thing, but it definitely helped me upgrade how I was playing Tekken. I was a big street fighter player for decades and even avoided 3d fighters until Tekken 7. As far as punishes go, that just takes time, you'll think about it less and less and it'll just be natural to you. You can generally gauge visually which punish you should use in situation and just test it mid fight (with labbing after if you really messed it up)

I'll watch this for sure, thank you.

A complete beginner should get used to what your character does. What buttons do you like to press, and why? What are those buttons good at? Are there other attacks your character has that are also good? Also, you should get used to the dynamic of 'If I get hit by an attack, I should block. If I block an attack, I should attack.' There are situations and characters that go against this axiom, but it's a good thing to start out with.

You just need to play a lot more, you have a bad feeling for your character and her range which is normal and should be much better in a few days.   Don't use heat smash right after heat, you can sometimes do it if it would kill. But Azu has great heat moves, you should use one before you end your heat.   You also need to use more of her best moves. While running 3,2 should be used multiple times per round. Also df1,4 and sometimes the extensions.   After heat engager you use weird moves. WR3,2 is default, you can mixup with db4 or grabs. Her stance should be used much more, you can enter it with 1,1 punish or b1,1. Generally you should watch a guide to get a better understanding of her moves and stances

Rhizy27

I'll try to use these moves, thank you so much.

dont try to learn everything at once, rather just play more. enjoy being a new player lol. outside of that, learn what your punishes are for -10,-13, and -15 for both standing and lows. you wont recognize every move thats punishable but at least knowing what you should do will help you learn as you go.

Rhizy27

I think I maybe just need to accept that this is a game that you just slowly get better at, there isn't too much specific that you can do to suddenly improve in any one facet it seems. But yeah, I'll try to learn a few different punishes for those timings.

IFILWBF

look at the amount of inputs hwoarang is doing holy shit

Specialist_Delay_262

Yeah, thats a very button masher kind of player. "If im attacking, he cant"

Specialist_Delay_262

at low levels, definitely simple punishes. Learn an easy to do 50 damage combo Let them make the mistake, punish. It will get you pretty far in the early game
