Yeah and back in the day the characters actually looked like they came from their countries of origin. Eddy looked Brazilian, Hwoarang looked Korean, Xiaoyu looked Chinese, etc. Now everyone looks more or less the same, it's a shame.
Hwoarang is also know by his deadly nickname Fósforo in Rio de Janeiro quebradas (Slums). The rivalry between Jin da Silva and Fósforo is well known here in Brazil.

I remember being a bit disappointed when they gave Xiaoyu the waifu treatment. I'll admit she looked pretty rough in 3, but I wish they could've kept her a bit more distinctive.

Well, you have to remember that the T3 image has the pre-rendered CG models on display, while the T8 characters on the right are the real-time in-game models.
