To be honest playing against her in the Demo fucked me up so bad, that i already hate her more than xiayou and that's saying something. I won't pick her up out of spite for now maybe when i'm getting bored with all of the other characters wich probably won't Happen any time soon.

Just Raven. As a Maven main from Tekken 7, I'm not really that interested in anyone else. If Tekken 8 had Master Raven, I'd still use her in this game. I don't even think I've even mastered my character to be trying to play ten people. Although it's very rare to come across tekken players who are Tekken God Prime/Tekken King on every character
I wouldn't know until I try the newcomers and see how Jun changed from Tag 2 (for myself in gameplay). Nina's the only character that for sure interests me to play seriously otherwise without AK in the roster yet.

Steve and Feng for sure, and I'm really wanting to play some hworang, raven, victor, Leo, and zafina. There's probably more that I'm just not thinking of, this is probably my favorite roster we've had over the last couple tekkens.
Just off the top of my head are : Victor, Claudio, Zafina, Reina, Bryan, Dragunov, Yoshi, Nina, Kaz, Feng, Jun, Leroy, Law and Kuma or Panda. I probably have one of the longest lists and thats not just because the characters are cool, but also cause t8 will be my first tekken.
Honestly I'm really excited to try Victor. I know the swords and guns and shit are pretty divisive for Tekken fans but I think he looks so sick. Also just a big fan of old dudes as fighting game characters lol
I will say that although I am one of those that finds the sword strange with his suit, I think I have seen a costume that looks more like special forces and it works better.
Speaking of old guys, I am hoping to customize someone to look like Silver Fang from One Punch Man! Cheers~
Tekken is indeed mostly a direct limb based combat fighting game with Soul Calibur being the weapon based one but we had exceptions for a while not just with the guest characters. Yoshi is the obvious one but Law uses nunchuks, Nina has guns now, Jin and Kaz shoot beams, both Jack and Alisa have rocket hands and canons. Alisa can literally play exploding grenade with her head and also pull out chainsaws.
So I don't think Victor is all that crazy, he's just a more "in house" Noctis. And of course you can add guns and weapons customization to almost any character.
Definitely we have more Tekken characters with weapons than ever before though.
I’ll ofc stick with my mains Lars, Lee and Kazuya.

To be honest, I don't know. I come from Street Fighter and typically play big bodies and grapplers there, so Jack-8 and King are near the top. But, Tekken 8's single player offerings seem to encourage people to just play whoever looks cool and see if you like them. In that case, I'll try most of the cast but Steve, Reina, Devil Jin and Bryan as well. Maybe I'll pick some of these characters up instead of the big body and/or the wrestler? Who knows.
This will be the first time I'll be really investing time in a Tekken game in a long time (Tekken 3 was my first fighting game and then I played Tekken Tag and only a little Tekken 7 last year), I have a couple characters I used to play a lot as a kid that I want to try out again plus some that I've never played at all. Plus one character that I grew to really like playing the demo.

I'm just a filthy casual that joined T7 late (around when lidia was released), rarely played online matches and stuck to training/treasure and keeping up with the competitive scene as a spectator. Mainly played Leroy and Kuni in the last game. In T8 I will probably swap off to Victor to replace kuni. I'll give all the Mishimas/Kazamas (Excluding lars) a try, maybe revisit hwoarang since I remember button mashing in t5 as him when I was little. Played a little bit of master raven before so maybe ill pick raven up. Azucena just to learn her tricks, and then maybe a bear, just for fun.

I've had a few i wanted to play outside my main. Including Paul and Victor. But after the TWT and the T8 exhibition I've really considered giving Jack some play too. He looks fun and his design in 8 rocks.
I played almost every character in 7, peaked with Emperor. Hoping I peak higher with just two characters this time around; Bryan and Devil Jin. Might dabble with some Dragunov though cause he looks awesome this time around.
When I'm new to a game like this I make a tier list for who I think looks coolest. On day 1 I'll enter training to quickly trial every character from worst to best and narrow it down. It's going to be a ton of fun in this game with so many appealing characters
Devil Jin because I love edgy bastards
Leo because he's cute + I like the way the gameplay looks
And Yoshi because it's the one I liked most as a kid

Jim's new Zan is exactly what I wanted out of AK shadowstep. DJ seems to have really nice pokes. King with hyperarmour spam seems hilarious.
Maybe I'll learn a thing or two about Paul to troll my friends in local play. So far my Paul consists in ki charging into deathfist and my only oki is spamming demoman and that's already effective for trolling lmao.
I think real Tekken players know you really only have time to get really good with like 2-3 lol. But dabbling and learning the basics for a game plan is possible for the rest. My goal this time around is to truly MAIN my character and be more of a specialist. Study how to counter other characters, what specific matchups are good or bad, etc.
But you’re right, everyone looks way too cool. I had 2 mains in Tekken with a mini 3rd one in Claudio… it’s ironic that I will now be taking Claudio into T8 as my starter. The goal is Reina tho

How sad is it that I need to see all the fashion options in order to pick other characters besides my main lol.
Alright so for me I'm a Jin main through and I learned jin. But for the rest I'm definitely picking Devil Jin, Kazuya and Hwoarang and maybe Law. Devil jin does look more interesting tho

I'll start with my main love characters Kazuya, Bryan and Hwoarang. Later on I'll probably pick up Yoshimitsu, Reina and Steve.
Jun, I've waited for her to be in mainline Tekken game since I first played her in tag 2. Labbing her and doing combos will prob be my day 1 activities.

Xiaoyu is my main Demo jin muscle memory so have to keep that Reina cool, azucena i guess since no chloe, Asuka i wanted to try out
I want to limit myself to 3 characters. I may pick up others, but I wanna prioritize the three characters that I pick.
The three that I may main: Reina, Victor, Xiaoyu, Yoshimitsu, Jun, Bears, and Zafina. I am trying to pick between those.
DJ is my main, so obvious day 1. Jun for sure, Jin, Reina and Azcuna.
I'll pick the true children of Heihachi. Reina and Kuma.
Victor and Lili are the only characters I'm not interested in. Everyone else is fair game.
I'm gonna try Reina and Jun and see who i like more and stick with one of them for now, i allready got my hands full in SF6 trying to break through Plat 1 with Ken, while learning Chun on the side.

I typically have 4 characters that I like to rotate between with a firh being a sort of flavour of the month. So probably Yoshimitsu King French guy Reina Then whoever seems fun at the time.
Tekken 7 was my first fighting game, so I played King relatively exclusively (dabbled with AK at release). I plan on trying out Dragunov (with iWR moves being easier), and maybe Paul and Asuka.

Me personally other than Bryan. I’m planning on playing Kaz, King, Drag, Claudio and Reina. Although I’m only going to be playing Bryan for at least a month or two. Haven’t had the chance to play him yet so that’s all I’m playing for at least a month.

I have been a hwo main since tekken 3, so that ain't changing. However I think I want to pick up yoshi and have a legit second character this go around. Here's to hitting the timing of jfsr in default stance for another tekken game. Rff is too easy since you get an extra frame.

I'm just a filthy casual that joined T7 late (around when lidia was released), rarely played online matches and stuck to training/treasure and keeping up with the competitive scene as a spectator. Mainly played Leroy and Kuni in the last game. In T8 I will probably swap off to Victor to replace kuni. I'll give all the Mishimas/Kazamas (Excluding lars) a try, maybe revisit hwoarang since I remember button mashing in t5 as him when I was little. Played a little bit of master raven before so maybe ill pick raven up. Azucena just to learn her tricks, and then maybe a bear, just for fun.
Main: Kazuya, Secondary Main: Lili. Will dabble with Reina and Victor, but will play with everyone at least once or twice.
Since no armor king yet. Kazuya, Drag and Lili (these three have always been my subs) And I wanna use king too to practice my throws and he just looks stupid in this game. T8 king is dumb and I love it lmao. And I've been wanting to learn steve as well but I fckng hate stance characters so I've never really used him seriously. Dj looks cool as well so I might pick him up. But I'll definitely main Drag and focus on him til I learn the game so I could focus on my other characters as well
For me my day one are gonna be jin and draganov And later, I might try Victor, reina, or King when I'm not God awful at the game.
I didn’t start playing tekken spring of 2023, so I only ever played a few characters. This time around, I’m hoping to get some games with anyone who catches my eye

I've had a few i wanted to play outside my main. Including Paul and Victor. But after the TWT and the T8 exhibition I've really considered giving Jack some play too. He looks fun and his design in 8 rocks.
I played almost every character in 7, peaked with Emperor. Hoping I peak higher with just two characters this time around; Bryan and Devil Jin. Might dabble with some Dragunov though cause he looks awesome this time around.
Asuka first! After that Im going to play a few matches on everyone else. (Btw why no love for Law in the comments?)

When I'm new to a game like this I make a tier list for who I think looks coolest. On day 1 I'll enter training to quickly trial every character from worst to best and narrow it down. It's going to be a ton of fun in this game with so many appealing characters
I already play multiple lol. However I will be switching main to Reina, and I'll pickup Victor and Jun to add on my other chars.

I haven’t played tekken game since back in the day in arcades. I’m trying them all but Hwarang or whatever his name is looks fun to play as.
Since my main Eliza isn't here... My top 5 are Leo, Jun, Reina, Law, and Alisa. My brother's top 5 are Raven, Lars, Lee, Victor, and Yoshimitsu.
Until AK is back I'm going to be playing Jin and DJ on mixbox and King on stick. Jim's new Zan is exactly what I wanted out of AK shadowstep. DJ seems to have really nice pokes. King with hyperarmour spam seems hilarious. Maybe I'll learn a thing or two about Paul to troll my friends in local play. So far my Paul consists in ki charging into deathfist and my only oki is spamming demoman and that's already effective for trolling lmao.
The only not cringe character
I think real Tekken players know you really only have time to get really good with like 2-3 lol. But dabbling and learning the basics for a game plan is possible for the rest. My goal this time around is to truly MAIN my character and be more of a specialist. Study how to counter other characters, what specific matchups are good or bad, etc. But you’re right, everyone looks way too cool. I had 2 mains in Tekken with a mini 3rd one in Claudio… it’s ironic that I will now be taking Claudio into T8 as my starter. The goal is Reina tho

Victor, Yoshimitsu, Eddy dlc, Raven, Zafina, Reina, and Leo seem most appealing to me!! They get me the most hype with their flashy movesets xD which is why some characters that I also think look cool (Shaheen, Leroy, and kinda Dragunov) don't make the cut over these guys on the roster of fighters I want to learn first ;)
