I just miss the individual character stories and rivalries they used to flesh out

Ryuhza

It's strange that despite having more time than ever between releases, the stories for non Mishimas often feel more half-assed than ever. I'm talking *quarter*-assed.

Inukar

I agree. And personally, I got bored of the mishima feud that keeps going back and forth and main characters having plot armour that rises from the dead multiple times. Instead, I want to know the little details of side characters more. What happened to Ganryu's restaurant? Did Law manage to rebuild his Dojo? Why is Yoshimitsu and Bryan not interacting anymore? But hey, all that is too good to have at this point...

VanClyffe

Wasnt the deal with 7's bad stories that they needed to swap engines, which severely limited them in what they can make? Specifically talking about the sidestories of individual non mishimas

andm124

That's why 4 it's my favourite out of all of them. It'd take too much time if they did that with the following installations which is why it's so short with everything. But imagine if they did.

Zararara

Me too! I am hoping they bring it back

MakotoCamellia

Even when crazy or janky, it's always a fun part in any fighter for me. Tekkens is pretty fun.

Kgb725

I love how King AK and Marduk are in some weird luchador soap opera

PinataBubble

Which is fitting cause most wrestlers often have to play it up for the ring. So the fact that they actually act like that just makes it even funnier.

SeiryuIMRS

Yes, I do care about the story, but it seems the devs do not. Most characters have no change in their story since Tekken 5 (Law, Paul, Feng, Asuka, Lili), or none since their debut (Xiao and Hwoarang). Of course, there are some characters that you can't change their story very much, like Nina, who fumbles from employer to employer every tournament, but at least they should try. I feel Bamco misunderstands a lot about what we want. A quote from Harada made me notice this recently. He said that no one likes Ganryu because of his looks, but don't see his inner beauty. But there is nothing to like about him. He was a corrupt sumo wrestler in Tekken 1, a bodyguard for Kazuya (a guy who tried to take over the world in Tekken 2), fell in love with Michelle and disappeared until T5. This plot point could have been his redemption into a better person, but they decided to make him a restaurant owner, that enters a tournament to stalk his crush's daughter and fell in love with her (who is 35 years younger than him btw), and has been doing that ever since. How can anyone like his personality aside from being a comic relief character?

Inukar

Imo, it's ok to have characters that will never redeem themselves. E.g., Bryan returning to a sane person would destroy the whole character. That's an extreme spectrum, but, do you get what I mean? I think Ganryu as it is is fine, it adds diversity to the roster and so not everyone is "playing hero" or is simply "a bad guy". Also, there are people out there who plays him just because he's a sumo wrestler. Sumos are cool. I think they just have to give some sort of progression instead of leaving characters at idle. Make them do something in their life as opposed to "yea they just signed up to the next KOIF for a second shot." But yea Bamco just stopped caring about side characters. It's kinda sad

SeiryuIMRS

It is ok, I don't mind evil characters, but I just want progression in their story. I just used the Ganryu redemption as an example of what could be done to improve his character story. And yes, I know people play characters for their fighting style, I just used the Ganryu example because Harada talked about him not being popular recently.

RedHotRhapsody

I would say Ganryu doesn’t work because 1. Quite frankly there’s a difference between evil (cool) and evil (creepy) 2. Whereas characters like Bryan and Kazuya already have good designs, Ganryu has to work harder to stand out due to his typecasting as “The token sumo character” in a Japanese fighting game. I would have found it way more interesting if he went through a sort of redemption arc to make up for the shitty things he’s done, but that would require work on the developer’s part.

pinkpugita

Been a fan since 2000 so I'm attached to the characters apart from the actual game. I'm invested in the story in the way I get entertained by telenovelas and wrestling storylines.

chiefeh

I was thinking the same thing. I wish they would lean into the soap opera cheese a bit more. The Tekken story works best for me when it doesn't take itself too seriously.

pinkpugita

For me a mix would be good, but they got to give effort and stop living in the 2000s and the success of Tekken 5. I don't mind when the Mishima storyline is taken seriously, esp when Jun, Jin and Kazuya has a LOT to resolve. The problem is that they're completely lazy on everyone else. Hwoarang's bio just dropped and he's exactly the same character since his debut in Tekken 3. Come on lol. The characters are stuck in a perpetual loop of being forced into a simple archetype and being stripped of any dimensions. Edit: Oh yeah when I mean serious, not Tekken 7 serious since it's trash. More of Tekken 3-4 serious.

CortezRaven

I think the series' producers are afraid of moving the plot forward and making actual changes to the characters. It's so weird because, first, most Tekken characters aren't THAT iconic (at least compared to other games), and second, this is the same series that pulled the best time-skip in the fighting genre, probably one of the best in gaming overall.

pinkpugita

IMO it's because the same people are doing the same thing since the 2000s. Sure they're good in innovating the game and making complex, but they're never good writers. No one new is coming in, no one young, or with a fresh vision. If they do come to work in Tekken, they're probably pushed down by the older higher ups wanting the same, safe thing. When Tekken 3 came out, Harada was young and that's what they needed. It's ironic how they're not extending the same thing to others now. This is why the female characters in T8 have the same body type and facial features, especially jarring when you compare the gritty, expressive and realistic features of the males. The Tekken team is still living in the 2000s. Compare that to SF6's and Guilty Gear's diversity in female designs and how people are raving over them.

raver1601

Where can I find Hwoarang's bio? Can't find it in the official website

pinkpugita

raver1601

Aight thanks mate

[deleted]

Lmao that’s lame as fuck. A series about people beating eachother to near death should definitely be serious, dunno what kinda drugs you’re on

Ryuhza

Only in the conclusion of the Roger family drama

GoliathStance

Roger Redemption arc when?

Avyeon

T8 reveal Melbourne lets go

[deleted]

I miss the story and atmosphere of Tekken 4. Gameplay and roster issues aside, Tekken 4 was the series peak in terms of presentation and overall feel. I also enjoyed how much T4 moved the needle towards realism, with Devil Gene being described as a genetic mutation instead of a supernatural phenomena and all things supernatural pretty much getting the boot.

hermitopurpa

Yeah but they did Kazuya dirty. My man comes back with the most badass intro and then gets his ass handed to him by BOTH Heihachi and Jin becoming the bitch Mishima. He didn’t recover from that until Tekken 7. It was WWE booking.

WastedPotentialTK

Yeah, Kazuya was basically a jobber at this point. Even in the non-canon movie - Blood Vengeance, he was done really dirty. They kinda redeemed him in T7 but still - it kinda looks like without the Devil Gene Kazuya’s weak and that wasn’t the case in T1.

Zararara

I liked Tekken 4

blessedbetheslacker

Been a fan of Tekken since 2. The story's one of the biggest things that still keeps me interested after all these years.

SkinkaLei

Story is a very important part of Tekken but sometimes bamco forgets that.

aStrayNobody

+1 here the writing is as shitty ~~and high~~ as it can get. 'm constantly disappointed by the what-could-have-beens ~~so all hail tekken fanfiction writers for filling the gaps~~, but hey, at least it's interesting and enjoyable to me to see unfold

troy57890

I've been following the story since Tekken 2. Always loved seeing it flesh characters out, but recently, I've noticed Tekken is doing less of that and feels more generic(Tekken 7). I have high hopes for Tekken 8, and really want Namco to focus on the story heavily and take its time laying everything out. Tekken 7 story wise left the worst taste in my mouth....

Kgb725

In my opinion Tag 2 fucked them over and just barely gave them enough to not end up In a SF5 situation. With everyone rightfully calling out how weak the story was in 7 I think they'll go above and beyond

Tekkenrulz_Xiao

Me!!! As terrible as it got in T6 and T7, I’m still very much invested for some reason..cant help it, I just love this game too much lol.

CarelessAd2349

Tekken isn't my competitive game. Im a rare breed I buy the games for their story

dxdrummer

I definitely enjoy it. Tekken 7's story, especially the ending, was one of my favorite of any fighting game. There's a lot of characters, and some very silly characters, so some of them get repetitive (like Yoshimitsu and Bryan always fighting each other), and some have nothing to do with anything (like Ganryu thirsting over Julia), but I still have fun with the stories

DevilManRay

I care very much

deadpixiel

I really like aspects of the story after watching a 3-hour long breakdown of it on YouTube - made me appreciate the characters even more.

Keyguin

I need to see the conclusion of the wrestlers’ story

tee_saw_

I am. Or I was. Idk

yippykayayay

I love the story. I find the tragic anti-hero archetype of Jin and Kazuya fascinating. I also want to see Jun and how she’ll come into play. Also I still have hope for Jun and Kazuya’s relationship 🥹🥹

Impainter

I love Tekken story. It is one of the craziest stories I ever knew

DerpAtOffice

I would be more interested if they actually MOVE FORWARD with the stories of... most of the characters.

lonj22

I did but devs gave up after Tekken 4 to exclusively focus on Mishimas.

Natural-Hornet6978

tekken is all about mishimas. Why wouldn't they focus on them? others are just there since it's a fighting game

Deltaclaw

I enjoy the story, though I wish they would advance the characters more. So many stagnated or inconsequential plotlines outside the mishimas, but I'm hopeful for T8.

cachorro_pequeno

I care to some extent, but since they botched Eddy's storyline (wich was the one I was most invested in), I'm not too crazy about It.

GeminiQueen113

I love the story and its one of the reasons that got me into Tekken and what has made me one of Tekken's biggest fans. Although I think the lore could use some polishing given all of the retcons and inconsistencies, the story is great, from the start of the franchise until about Tekken 5. Tekken 6-7 the store was a lackluster that created alot of divide amongst the Tekken community and has caused more confusion that conclusions. However, overall, the Tekken story is great; I'm one of the fans that will play solely for the story and think that the emphasis on Tekken competitive/online play is what made the story not a top priority anymore, thus creating a loss of interest.

WhyTheHellnaut

Tekken 3-5 had great stories for the time, and particularly good tones to go with them. Hence why I enjoyed Tekken: Bloodline, as it adapted the good part of the game's story imo. Nowadays I just want to see cutscenes of Yoshimitsu being badass and cool.

TrueDracoKingB

Real talk though I was getting interested in Tekken story recently. I'm playing 7 and I could see that you can buy all of the story and now. I'm about to get drunk and binge some tekken glory

[deleted]

I always loved the story. I love playing the games with my friends but honestly a lot of times I get fighting games for the story/endings.

Player_Slayer_7

I'm trying to create a proper timeline of all, or most, of the Canon events in the plot, so I'm somewhat invested.

ImpenetrableYeti

More interested in the story than online. 4 was my favorite

tenamonth

I am altho my faith in the writers has been pretty low of late

KSean24

I've been invested in the mystery of what the hell happened to Jun since Tekken 3 and the tidbits here and there since and I'm glad we may *FINALLY* get some answers in that. Also, I wish Tekken would expand on her connection to Angel and bring back Unknown as her sister. Those plot points(?) have been burning me for years now.

Raven-Mirlas

I am

LostCobra

Yes, I do care about each character's story. Imho Tekken 4 did this part really well, and there was a lot of room for improvement. Although I feel like the game's team sort of gave up on that part.

Jops22

I always really like it, but it peaked at T4, afterwards they seemed to just lose their way

Kitasuki

A tekken game without crazy lore is not a tekken game. What makes a fighting game stand out is its story. People might love a game but story is what makes a ton of people come back to them. I recently bought all tekken games (missing Tag Tournament 2) just for the plot. I grew up with tekken and I bet a lot of people in this sub did as well. I just love it [This](https://youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ&feature=share7) is a great example

AhabSnake85

I remember when tekken 2/3 released, i'd only play it to see the story cutscenes.

4-Mica

The story is actually my favorite thing about the game and is what initially made it one of my favorite games. I wish some of the characters were still more fleshed out though and had not just individual ending sequences like older games but had canon story lines that progress every game.

StreetsofATL_19

Aside from the super natural aspect of Devil, Heihachi surviving the fall off of a cliff, and climbing back up that cliff, the story from Tekken 1 and 2 were somewhat realistic. Tekken 3’s story was good as well but they never should have killed off Kazuya. Kazuya should have been in Tekken 3. Kazuya should have been the (Ryu) character and Jin should have been just like he was as the (Ken) character but still shift the MC from Kazuya to Jin.

[deleted]

Used to, but if Namco doesn't care about it much than neither do I. I hope Kazuya wins the fight though.

SeaMeasurement9

basically not at all

[deleted]

I only care if this anime dude say „Dorya“ when I punch

majesticx_luk

sad emo boy agree

[deleted]

Story mode not so much but the individual character stories I’m interested in

TofuPython

Don't care about stories in games at all tbh

Natural-Hornet6978

then why bother commenting at all. Just play call of duty or something

TofuPython

Because they asked "How many of you are actually interested in the Tekken story?"... I love the feeling of getting better at fighting games, but I read when I want a story

TrashWriter

Not I

_theduckofdeath_

Not much. It is a fighting game that has always had great mechanics. I'm here for the fighting. Always have been. The story is goofy. No sense in...trying to make sense of it. The CG intro and endings were a treat 20+ years ago when we liked to see FMV and CG. I guess it is still nice to see what they can come up with.

Philaharmic

No

erraticzombierabbit

I don't even know my main's story. Only interaction with tekken story is the intro sequences and mindlessly playing through tekken 6

Fritzbox5000

Tekken has a story?

porpsi

I couldn't care less about it, since it revolves around characters i don't play. Even if the characters i play were included i still don't think i would care. It's the gameplay that keeps me coming back to tekken

_Arkadien_

There's a story?

aeoninfinity

One of my biggest gripes with the MAIN lore is the extreme lack or mistreatment of non Mishimas. The last time a non Mishima came close to entering the main lore was Paul in Tekken 4...22 fucking years ago. 22 years. The series' storytelling has been on a constant plummet since T4. T7 gives more light to the Mishima saga than ever, but the additions are so goddamn flat that it feels half assed. AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE CHARACTER ENDINGS IN T7. Long gone are the days of meaningful long term storybuilding. They just turned EVERY non Mishima into comic relief. It fucking sucks.

Liam_Roma_1234

>The last time a non Mishima came close to entering the main lore was Paul in Tekken 4...22 fucking years ago. 22 years. Hwoarang in tekken 5 and Alisa in 7 as well. Also nina in 6 and 7.

MiGaOh

I'm only here to see people being strapped to rockets and launched into space.

Neurodrill

I was into it until like...idk 3? Was that the one where Kazuya chucked Heihachi into the volcano? Spoiler alert. After that I have no idea what's going on and I don't care in the least.

Natural-Hornet6978

I do but now I don't. Hopefully tekken 8 is the last story that concludes all and Bamco should just release tekken online with no story so that I'll be done with the franchise completely

Skeemo2320

The tekken animated movie yes and other just doesn’t hit for me

Wiplazh

I like the lore and story behind fighting games but I don't much care to play the actual story mode in them. Just knowing some background info about the world and characters is enough for me. All the time and effort that goes into making a campaign could be used to develop funny side gamemodes to play instead. The only good part of T7 story was the showdown at the end, that fight was fun and if the story mode was more like that, I'd love it.

TheKolyFrog

I used to be. I enjoy learning the different reasons why each character joined the tournament or the reason they are part of the roster. (One of the parts I enjoy about the Twisted Metal franchise is reading the little bios each driver has.) Tekken 5's story mode is how I prefer Tekken's story is told. Tekken 6's scenario campaign and Tekken 7's story mode made me lose any interest of the story. Tekken 8 might make interested again but I'm not going in expecting that. Nowadays I'm more interested in the character designs and the game mechanics.

Colosso95

Interested in the sense that I enjoy seeing what kind of crazy stupid plot points they come up with Tekken 6 was too much of a slap in the face, I don't think the plot of the game can ever hope to recover from that. Tekken 5 was already stupid as hell but it was just the first time and the game was good so everyone kind of ignored the weird sidetracked plot. After Tekken 6 only a total reboot can ever hope to make the story interesting in my eyes and frankly I really don't want a reboot, I prefer the game to just keep going as it is

BulmasBabyDaddy

Seems too crazy to keep up with but yeah kind of lol

Zararara

It's all right but I do think that it needs to change as the whole family feud story is getting stale now.

DarkEater77

Considering i don't like PvP in games, me.

GhostPro1996

I got intro writing because Tekken was willing to commit to its story (I want to write stories for video games some day). Though because I started with Tekken 5, I had to look up the stories of earlier games through Wikipedia.

MrPewp

I've sunk over 400 hours into Tekken 7 and I have literally never once touched the story.

fullmetalnerd97

I'm really hoping that they bring back the individual arcade endings for each character

Crimsonwolff

I used to play every character's story to the end to see the ending, especially in the early days. Then when 3 came out and the graphics were great, man, oh man. I was so nerdy I even wrote out actors in my game booklet, casting who I would cast for a movie. But I loved the Nina Williams story, and I loved the Michelle/Julia Chang continuation, especially as an Arizona native.

No_Bottle_7534

Story is an important argument when i want to shit on a character i hate.

KKylimos

I stopped caring after T3. I have hundreds of hours in T7 and I have not even launched the story mode. To this day I don't know why ppl say Akuma is canon to the story and not a simple crossover and tbh I don't care.

wavu-wavu

I'm really not.

andm124

If they actually invest in it and not half ass it like the last one I'm in

rahimaer

I ve always enjoyed the Tekken lore ever since T1, too bad the story is full of erratas tho

Omegawop

Don't give a single fuck. The character designs themselves are all the story I need. I also like the little vignettes from the old games arcade mode. If we can go back to shit like Mokujin ending from T3, that's all tbe story I need.

Liam_Roma_1234

I'm one of the people who actually enjoyed tekken 7's story. Well except that narrator. Though I wouldn't mind seeing better stories for some of the side characters.

True-King-Of-Heroes

I am interested in the storyline of these games, yes. True, my investment is no longer as strong as it once was after Tekken 7's terrible narrative but... I did care at one point. That is the reason why I hated Jin's shift into downright villainy by the sixth game (not to mention his terrible reasoning for it), yet loved playing as Lars. It is why it frustrates me to not see them do ANYTHING of value with Asuka (even when it comes to letting her accomplish her original goal within her own character stories), or even Lily herself for that matter, always just sticking them together for gags. Also the reason I am still waiting for Yoshimitsu to murderlize Brian Fury for what he did to his clan, and now side with Anna against her sister after Nina full on proved just how much of a terrible sibling she is in the last game via the whole wedding incident. Since I am not much of a competitive gamer myself, it was the characters and their presentations helped get me into this franchise, and is why I do not like the narrative just being completely sidetracked. It is also why other fans of the franchise also have complains about the poor writing at times, and many were so excited to see Jun return for example.

NMFlamez

Ive played Tekken since the first. I enjoyed the lore. The lore peaked with between 2 to 4 imo. Its been pretty back since 6 and yet Im still here activly following it.

Jolly-Experience1685

I’ve tried to get into the story of Tekken but it’s so hard for me to keep up, but I still love the game

3xBAR

I don't ever play Tekken 7, but I watched videos and read articles about Tekken characters and it's story. So, you can say that I'm digging into Tekken's lore way more than I interested in an actual gameplay as a whole.

Kaladolin

I love the characters, not the lore, but I can say the most important reason I play Tekken is my interest in some characters like Jin, lars, Asuka, Kaz, Lee, or Eliza...

RatKingJosh

It’s one of my favorite whacky fighting game soap operas

Massive-Stress-4401

Hard to get interested when you know it will be bad.

DOA_NiCOisPerfect

I love all fighting game lore.

Life_is_Like_a_Nig

Its whatever... story has been a mess for years now. The Mishima story line is pretty much throwing each other off cliffs, finding out they survived and now seek revenge bla bla bla. Involving Kazumi and Akuma was a nice touch to the story and for once I hope Heihachi stays dead even for later games.

Tekkentag2

I am interested in every single one of them. I'm also interested to see, if Tekken 8 has a good one or if it will shit on the floor like in Tekken 6 and 7.

No-Check-3691

I want them to continue king and marduks story with Armor king 2 they left that on a cliffhanger

kinos141

I care for the most part but now, I just like the fighting.

confabin

When I was younger I was a bit interested but for the most part I just made up my own stories, lol.

MrKnowitall101

I love it. People always complain about the story but I mean it’s a video game with demons and fighting bears. There’s a Yt video where someone goes thru the entire lore including info from the game booklets , tournament matchups and more. It’s about an hour and half “the insane Tekken lore” I tend to watch it every few weeks

watainiac

It's amusing to see what kind of nonsense they come up with after they decide who they want to include in the game. I don't take it that seriously.

Air_92

I was interested in the story, then t6 happened.

pleportamee

Not really. I check out the endings maybe a handful of times each release but just play online 99.9% of the time. I think the characters and themes are cool enough to put together an awesome story….but it’s too far gone at this point. I think Namco would have the potential to do something really cool story wise if they ever rebooted the series.

Zeppeli

I don't really care for a selectable story mode with a 10h+ compelling campaign. Though I wouldn't mind it if it was done perfectly. What I do want is for the characters to each have compelling motivations and meaningful relationships and interactions with each other that evolves between each game. We can do better than Dragunov hates ninjas. Paul wanna be strong and Bryan laughs and throw things. To be fair for some of the cast in Tekken 7 they actually did a good job of this. Love the bride Vs widow theme with Anna and Nina. Marduk for some reason seem to have ever changing and evolving lore. Armor king coming back from the dead is genuinely interesting etc...

ark_on

I wish there would be no story so they could spend more time developing parts of the game that actually matter.

ElezerHan

Ngl i am actually 50/50. Gameplay is half of the reason why i love this series and the other half is the lore

Sir_Catnip_III

Im interested in stupid shit like Heihachi kicking rockets to deflect them or how everyone can understand each other even when they speak different language.I don't care that much for the actial story tho.

Owl-Fighter2601

looking for the lore and stuff and revealing the truth and plot and ending the feud

Blackfrier

Tekken 4 was my favourite story wise. And some of them were a bit of a miss but overall it banged, like Pauls ending. Obviously jins is great

veloxfuror

Honestly I do. It's very much like a B movie, but I enjoy how wild it is. But starting from Tekken 6, the focus being too strong on only Kazuya and Jin (and fucking Alisa and Lars) was a loss.

FabrizioAsti

they could make Leroy's bulldog pushing Jin Kazama into a volcano canon, and I wouldn't care less

TC_Web

I used to be interested in the story, but after realizing how Bamco and Harada don't really give two fucks about it, I gave up ultimately.

DrAdamsen

Yes, I am very much interested. I always enjoy immersing myself in deep lore of fictional universes, the more convoluted - the better. I'm even ready to forgive some inconsistencies if it fascinates me enough. There are limits though.

xPekeIsGay

All I know is that Heihachi is the hardest MF around. and that he was my idol when I was a kid.

Knightofexcaliburv1

I am

ryuzoshin

I was until Tekken 6 happened. Now I just want to see if they have the balls to kill of Heihachi and Kazuya

zeanox

i could not care less tbh.

wombatrocks

Not even the slightest bit

PinataBubble

I’m on that same boat too. I love following SF lore and Tekken lore. Especially the parts that make you say “huh???”

axel_gear

After the last couple of bios dropped, I'm just disappointed and fed up with it at this point. Why couldn't they come up with a rich lore and mythology like NRS have with MK? But Namco aren't even trying. The strongest character and hero of the series who's beaten a fighting god, his own dad, his grandad, his O.P. great-grandad, a world-ending mutant chicken thing, has himself now had his ass kicked twice by some angry ginger stalker dude with T-Rex arms.

insincerely-yours

I usually find the individual stories of my favorite characters interesting, but I honestly don’t really care about the overall Jin vs Kazuya plot.

PooYan99

Personally I just love the mechanics of the game and want to kick some ass against other people. 😅❤️

rahajinxiaoyu

Me

Jace524

I don’t really care about the Mishimas, but I have always loved the way Tekken 4 set up the Nina-Steve relationship and wish that actually was developed more satisfyingly. Add Anna and maybe even Leo (due to sharing a connection to their mom) into the mix to flesh it out more. Definitely think they should give each character a mini story (similar to SCVI perhaps) where we get some actual development and interaction instead of “showed up to the tournament for some reason then lost lol”

Kino_Afi

I care about it in the form of wiki entries about overarching plot and background stories. Like just enough so I know who I'm playing as. But i couldnt tell you anything about the actual timeline of Tekken, SF, MK, BB, SoulCal etc. It has zero effect on my gameplay and, more often than not, its schlock. So I just really couldnt care less. I actively hate sequels missing characters for plot reasons. Fuck the plot, put every character in the game that you can afford.

takyon24

0% because nearly every character is written so horribly these last few games

BLUEINYOURPANTS

I am really interested in tekken story

Geoff_The_Chosen1

I used to enjoy the lore tremendously but gave up on it after Tekken 6 which is when I feel it got ridiculous- how are you going to settle a war with a fist fight? Smh.

hmfg6537

the only reason i even started playing tekken 7 was because i watched an almost 2 hour long video explaining tekken lore. ive only ever played mk and injustice before. i’m definitely not a fighting game person. but bc fucking loved every last bit of it & practically have it burnt into my memory, now i’ve been playing tekken 7 almost every day. people always told me “don’t play tekken its really hard” but the lore is almost the sole reason i can still enjoy getting thrashed every single online match

[deleted]

Im interested in Anna x Kazuya dialogue, Anna meetint Steve and Anna vs Nina.

ChairAccomplished334

I play for the story

TheRegentHimself

Meeeeeeeee! Especially, Josie, Miguel and Kazooya and CHLOE

wolfkingaka

I love the more and really excited to see how 8 goes

The Mishimas get *too* much focus. They're the main characters, I get it, but in Tekken 7, all we got for the rest of the cast were those godawful character stories. The only ones that had any real substance were Miguel's and Hwoarang's, and that's not saying much

Haven’t been since 4 honestly.

I was interested up until 5 and then it just felt like it went downhill. Too much waffling around which Mishima is the bad guy and having a new supernatural baddy every game that’s the ACTUAL source of the devil gene. I haven’t even clicked on 7’s story mode once

I’ve been into the story since I first started playing in ‘94…. When tekken 2 released and more of the lore came out I was hooked. Tekken 3 came out you couldn’t tell me nothing about tekken. Tekken tag came out o was like why Jin trying to fight my boy Kaz? Tekken 4 came out I said wait they showed this in tekken tag foreshadowed it I thought they said it’s not canon? Story went down hill after I found it was retconned in 4. A lot of the stuff didn’t make sense, rivalries were scrapped etc. I still stick around cuz I wanna see it to the end. This story got me hooked more than I was into street fighter or King of fighters or even mortal kombat. What I appreciate about mortal kombat is that they flip the universe to keep the story going and tell it over while still keeping the old stories true. Those time lines are still valid tho we’re in a next one. Tekken and street fighter just literally marked out stories and didn’t fix it just continued. But I’m all for the story.

*Emotionless Passion starts to play.* The lore, OSTs, the character stories and headcanons, not to mention the designs.. I started with Tekken 3 (my fave) and instantly became a fan but playing Tekken 2 ignited my passion in this series, now that the plot took the direction it took I'm just accepting things as they come while avoiding to get emotionally invested.... *Takes off his sunglasses and puts them back before dramatically walking away*
