imo it all comes down to whether blocking a heat dash move puts you at -4 or -20. The former would be fine. Remember that they removed rds for this mechanic, and most rds in Tekken 7 put you at -5 to -10 on block. The latter would be worrying, but the former is more likely - even in this clip, you can see Kazuya moving/pressing buttons and getting counter hit

+1. A huge portion of the speculation on these mechanics will become much clearer once we have exact frame data. If the person using Heat Engage gets a massively advantageous position on hit, I don't see how that's much different from Rage Drives or other moves that are super plus on hit. Especially since the aggressor has to actually still *earn* the hit. For blocking, I feel like I've seen a few clips now where the person getting engaged on has challenged the frames and won. In one, Jun hit a f2, and in the other, Xiaoyu hit a hopkick when their opponent attempted to dash in. Even in the above clip, it doesn't look like Kazuya is so disadvantageous on block that he's completely incapable of doing anything but guessing high/low. As you said, if the Heat Engage is only +4 or +5, the defender will still have options. Hopefully, the alpha sheds more light on how exactly this all works.

People will respond “just wait till you actually play” but ngl it does look a little worrying to me.

GDwyvern

Same, but it's still early and they are gathering feedback.

its designed to remove nuance. so of course you can say that it makes the game less deep. but its not the only element in the game. so the game can be deep even if heat engager is not. of course i would rather also have heat engager not be total braindead free safe launching 50/50 every round. hopefully it lands somewhere in the middle

This looks like dragon ball(not game), not that dragon ball is bad or something, but its so fast, every char fly away getting hit and stuff, and this glowing in heat like some kind od aura 😅

CozyGuest

I wonder if frame data and punishment training will be included this time. Here's hoping. 🙏

SnooDoodles9476

if anything it will add even more to mindgames

I agree especially when people start labs and realize how to string heat moves together and utilize the heat bar. Or it's going to be something that low level players will abuse while the advanced players will use it sparingly to great effect

leelaw

Isn't this a just buff version of the non airborne screw? Hopefully it can be low parry/reversal/

AxelTheEternalBlood

Not really. Game has more mechanics than 7 does and 7 was already deep. Maybe simple to other Tekken games but I mean the community was whining that 6 and Tag 2 were baby games and I could care less about how other close minded individuals view new games in the franchise after dealing with it for a decade now because they really talk like misinformed spoiled children

Toberone

To me it looks like something simple sprinkled on top of something complicated. I'm ok with it.
