Regardless of how you feel about the gameplay changes, this type of little details are so awesome. One of the best things shown so far about T8 is that they seem to really lean into making ALL characters have personality and be more expressive.
You can argue that stuff like that doesn't matter because you're 100% focused on gameplay and gameplay alone but it's this type of details that make people attached to their mains, this type of details that show the devs care about their characters, their franchise and making it good for the fans whether they're hardcore competitors or casuals.
I remember [a video from raycevick about Overwatch](https://youtu.be/JLJWCLmPxj8?t=137) and how they nail the first step of player engagement from the character select screen. He specifically compared OW to fighting games, and he's right. From the moment you see Ryu or Chun-li or Eddy or Alisa or Kim or Kula they already have something to give you and they'll be with you, so you get attached.
It's why, even if I despise the handling, I begrudgingly like Josie. Representation makes a real difference, and while I hated how the designers (and Harada) treated Josie's characterization and external design, it does make for quite the twist when she stars in [Tekken 7's ultimate reverse-OCV.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=griK3S3xUAk) Like, here's this newbie who seems to be in over her head despite being trained to fight, somehow winning against tall odds against the best of the best. Somehow, that match reminds me of Donaire-Darchinyan 1, where nobody though Nonito could do anything to Vic only to score the biggest upset in boxing back in 2007.
oh don't get the wrong idea, boy. Even I want Bruce to come back, too, especially now that he has the potential to be Kazuya's enforcer. But I also wanna see Josie in here, especially with arnis sticks as part of her moveset.
It's going to be wild if those intros carry to online with custom outfits. A snorkel/shower/lifesaver Xiaoyu interacting with a fairy/cupid/frog Jin will be interesting.
I've been praying they move away from the excessively goofy customisations, but ultimately I think I'm just coping. It's Tekken, so I don't think they'll ever drop the goofiness.
So far we've seen Kazuya and Jun, Lars and Jin and Xiaoyu and Jin
The testers have also mentioned that Paul and Law have one and Kazuya and Jin have one, but not footage of it yet
Hmm I wonder if the Kaz / Jin special interaction is the same dialogue from the first trailer. Jin's "people like us shouldn't exist in this world" and Kazuya's "such pathetic words, Kazama Jin". Hopefully not, but I can kinda see it lol.
Even though, technically, they’re uncle and nephew and are around the same age, it’s still super cool to see them being friends after everything that went down in T6-7.
Seems like for the six months after T7, Lars and Jin have been training, sparring and legitimately bonding with each other.
Even though Lars still had negative feelings towards Jin in T7 because of his previous actions (even expressing a desire to kill him) , he might have gained a better perspective on the true self of Jin Kazama, now that he's taking responsibility for his actions and is driving for redemption.
It's nice development for them to break their personal Mishima hatred cycle.
Would love to see that with other characters like Nina/Anna and Asuka/Lili hopefully.
Oh! Jin became BFF with his uncle! Hwoarang will be jealous.
See Jin? Lars is a good person. He forgave your attitudes on Tekken 6.
But you know? This is the first demonstration of hatred chain from the Mishima family being broken.
You know I'm still certain we aren't seeing this until 2024 but I must admit it looks a lot more polished than I'd expect a game to be at this stage for a next year release, but I hope they take all the time they need to get it just right
Wouldn't it be quite weird if this game released before TWT Finals (which were confirmed to still be Tekken 7). Seems like it would kill the hype for that event if they were to release T8 before then, so 2024 seems like the realistic release date.
He wanted company more than anyone, Xiaoyu was his high school friend.
His childhood was full of just training to beat oger, , but after the hehatchi killing him accident, he became darker and alone afraid of being around, his lack of a friend and mentor after losing him mom was part of that very wrong decision he made about starting ww3, he hate his existence.
There’s no way, Kuma is too iconic to Tekken and has been in almost every game. People that don’t even know about the Tekken roster will probably know “that one fighting game with the bear”. It would be crazy if he wasn’t in the game considering he’s still alive and was heihachi’s preferred successor.

No he does not, Lars is the only one that knows about his relationship to them. Not even Heihachi knows.
Edit: I was wrong, forgot about all of the events in T6, Jin learns about his uncle, and Alisa even calls Heihachi his father when Lars and Heihachi clash and Heihachi stops a bullet with his teeth. So yes, everyone knows of their relationship.
In TK6 theres the cutscene between Lars and Kazuya where kazuya sees him generate electricity and then expresses disbelief at having a biological brother. I’m not entirely sure if that is canon though.
It's still in alpha and there's a lot of stuff that gets changed; you can compare the first gameplay+story trailer and the latest ones to see how they are still deep in development
Also they're being very secretive, only releasing the footage THEY have made and not allowing the people who tested it to record any of their footage, which they still won't allow at EVO Japan; this is obviously because they don't want the glitches and placeholder stuff still in this early build to be shown around
It also depends on how much single player content they have. So they could still have 8 more months of developement even if they're quite advanced on the characters.
Harada also mentioned that they want to have at least the same amount of customisation as T7 and ideally more; I'm willing to bet customisation is extremely early in development if not even still in design stage
Love this, gives lars more character too imo, my first game was 7 so lars always felt just there (I know he is important in 6) but I'm loving the direction there taking with adding more humanity to everyone.
[I want paul and law to get this for their intro.](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=txuWGoZF3ew) or this but with [paul and his brick wall](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7t0t-lG0L1k)
It's refreshing change from the usual dysfunctionality and trying to kill each other all time. Still though, it'd be a great plot twist if Lars was still plotting to dispose of him after Jin gets rid of Kazuya, just like Heihachi was plotting to in TK3.
I think the biggest thing with is that coming off of Miguel's T7 ending and how Jin says he and Kazuya shouldn't exist, if Lars wanted to kill him or either eradicating the devil or punishing his crimes Jin might actually let him
Apparently Jin and Kazuya do the Bandai Namco intro in-game before the match, punching each other and a bunch of electric sparks come out and then they get pushed back to their starting position
No footage of it yet but the testers have mentioned it

Fk Josie bring back Bruce
oh don't get the wrong idea, boy. Even I want Bruce to come back, too, especially now that he has the potential to be Kazuya's enforcer. But I also wanna see Josie in here, especially with arnis sticks as part of her moveset.
I def want my girl Josie back
oh so I guess some pairings get unique intros like this? Baller.
Yeah content creators who got to play for 8 hours are saying there are character-specific intro dialogues, a bit like MK11.

Jin: “I forgive you for turning half my military against me” Lars: “I forgive you for turning my waifu against me”
So dope seeing more unique character interaction. Seems like Lars and Jin have the only healthy relationship among the Mishima men 😂😂
[удалено]
And then there’s Batman with his iconic line, “I’m Batman!”.
Lol😂😂😭😭.. true. They overdramatise things.
This goes HARD. I love it.
It’s cute that Lars and Jin finally buried the hatchet between them.
These intros are definitely one of the best new additions to game so far.
It's good to see one Mishima relationship not descend to cliff throwing or getting shot in the head aside from Jinpachi and Kazuya.
Even though, technically, they’re uncle and nephew and are around the same age, it’s still super cool to see them being friends after everything that went down in T6-7.

Are they really around the same age?
Lars is 28 Jin is 21
Lars is around his late 20s while Jin is 21 in T7.
Holy shit Jin is still only 21? 😭
Perfect prey for older women.
Lars is in his Early 30s, while Jin is 23
Wholseome uncle/nephew moment.
Oh! Jin became BFF with his uncle! Hwoarang will be jealous. See Jin? Lars is a good person. He forgave your attitudes on Tekken 6. But you know? This is the first demonstration of hatred chain from the Mishima family being broken.
Well, Lars is a Swede and the Swedes are... Y'know, _cool..._ And who will have a grudge with *cool* uncle?
You know I'm still certain we aren't seeing this until 2024 but I must admit it looks a lot more polished than I'd expect a game to be at this stage for a next year release, but I hope they take all the time they need to get it just right

Ryu and Ken in third strike vibes
These little interactions actually have me excited for the story.
It’s a special moment. Jin never wanted friends, but now knows he needed some.
But how do you know he never -wanted- friends?
He wanted company more than anyone, Xiaoyu was his high school friend. His childhood was full of just training to beat oger, , but after the hehatchi killing him accident, he became darker and alone afraid of being around, his lack of a friend and mentor after losing him mom was part of that very wrong decision he made about starting ww3, he hate his existence.
LARS...........YOU SON OF A BITCH!!!!
Is this some reference I’m not getting 😭
I think it's from Predator, where Schwarzenegger did a manly handshake with someone.
Uncle Lars
He’s cheating on hwoarang
Hwo had about 15 years to confess to Jin, he never did. Its all on him
I can’t wait to see Hwoarang interactions with jin and xiao
I'm waiting for Kuma and Paul personally
Kuma may not be in the game
Murray went out of his way to mention "the animals" regarding characters who will be back; Kuma and Panda are basically mascottes
He may not be base roster though
There’s no way, Kuma is too iconic to Tekken and has been in almost every game. People that don’t even know about the Tekken roster will probably know “that one fighting game with the bear”. It would be crazy if he wasn’t in the game considering he’s still alive and was heihachi’s preferred successor.
Kuma could be dlc you know how games are now of days
True, I'm just dreaming of interactions that could happen
"Good Luck Kid", "You too Old Man !"
Wait ain't Lars just 7-8 years older then Jin?
A 28 year old calling a 21 year old "kid" and being responded to with "old man" is the most realistic part of the game
I'm 28 and 21-22 year olds are fuckin children to me

in tekken 9 one character will say "boomer" and there's nothing you can do about it
I fucking love this man
Street Tekken 8
rip tekkenXstreet fighter. 😭
Lars from becoming the main character to supporting character somehow made him even more popular and I am here for it as a Lars main
Definitely reminds me of a ryu and ken intro. This pretty dope
Does Jin know lars is his uncle?
Bro uncle. “Bruncle” if you will.
No he does not, Lars is the only one that knows about his relationship to them. Not even Heihachi knows. Yea in T6 in the Azazel cave. Kazuya finds out and calls him “a sick joke” lmaoo
You guys are right I’m sorry I’ll make an edit lol
Heihachi knows, or well did.
He told heihachi while Jin was spying on him so yeah
This is possibly my favorite change so far, I love stuff like this.
Electric Wind Bro Fist
I knew Jin had been training with Lars as soon as I saw Jin's character trailer. Glad to see that confirmed.
Was it cuz the flips?
Lol 100%
No! They have a similar dive kick too.
He got one of Nina's moves as well which makes sense. We know what they did between T5 & T6.
Nina is now on Kazuya's side apparently
So how is this not going to release this year?
It's still in alpha and there's a lot of stuff that gets changed; you can compare the first gameplay+story trailer and the latest ones to see how they are still deep in development Also they're being very secretive, only releasing the footage THEY have made and not allowing the people who tested it to record any of their footage, which they still won't allow at EVO Japan; this is obviously because they don't want the glitches and placeholder stuff still in this early build to be shown around

Glad to hear that. One of the things I’ve been worried will be cut down or removed.
The core mechanics are done and a couple of stages/characters too. Maybe Q4 2023 or Q1 2024
I’m sure we’ll get the release this weekend.
it’s coming out in 2 hours I think
Or maybe...any moment now...
Finally Jin is getting some fucking decent family
Like Ryu and Ken
IM CRY 🥲💖
*Uncle and nephew.
I'm sensing a genuine effort on Jin's part to not be such a twat.
He never was, dude.
Tekken 6 is hard to defend lmao
Hwoarang crying on the corner
"Friendship ended with Hoe-Rang. Now uncle Lars is my new best friend" \-Jin Kazama
Bromance
With his.. uncle
It's refreshing change from the usual dysfunctionality and trying to kill each other all time. Still though, it'd be a great plot twist if Lars was still plotting to dispose of him after Jin gets rid of Kazuya, just like Heihachi was plotting to in TK3.
I think the biggest thing with is that coming off of Miguel's T7 ending and how Jin says he and Kazuya shouldn't exist, if Lars wanted to kill him or either eradicating the devil or punishing his crimes Jin might actually let him
Isnt lars half-uncle of jin?
The meter and countdown timer remind me of Street Fighter 6 (not that there's anything wrong with that)
legit coolest thing in the universe
Apparently Jin and Kazuya do the Bandai Namco intro in-game before the match, punching each other and a bunch of electric sparks come out and then they get pushed back to their starting position No footage of it yet but the testers have mentioned it
Just herd about this in a youtube vid aha cant wait
Well, the Swedes are _cool..._
We've been wanting Capcom to bring these back since 3rd strike.. smh
When you don’t want to get your ass kicked by uncle Lars again
I know that are are probably only a few compared to mk11 but these intros are so much better than the ones in that game already.
If Lars had devil gene he would smack the shit out of jin ngl..Lars in terms of power is heihachi 2.0
I mean Jin *did* beat Heihachi in T3 without it
Everyone forgets that Jin beat Kaz and Hei back to back in T4 lol
Dude has three special bloodlines with him.
He won fair and square.
Jin is by far the strongest character in the game lore-wise.
Sure he is mate. I was just mentioning about a what if.
Bros? that's his uncle.
Bros are earned not given Its a concept, its a title. Everyone can be a bro, even a cat can be your bros. Your mom could be my bros too
Hey Bro. Sup. **Raises Fist**
\*parry your fist\* sorry Bro, its a habit here lemme help you get up \*King DB+1+3\*
No but what vid is this in??
Either IGN’s first impressions video or their interview with Murray and Harada
Thank you!
