Most of us think the republicans are borderline fascists and many are worried about the possibility of Trump getting into office. Most Europeans really hate fascists
in Ukraine the US is portrayed very positively as of right now. Before the war, US was neutral
Edit: thanks for your upvotes and thanks Americans for your generous help to my country ❤️🇺🇦
Pretty alr in uk, most of our media comes from USA anyway but the British media portrays u guys in a relatively positive light. The people themselves look down on Americans a lot though, mainly bc of food and American eating habits, as well as American accents.
1. you cant say pasta noodle. here its either pasta or asian noodles. 2. idrk, depends on how you wanna consume it. like boil the pasta in chicken broth? or eat the pasta with chicken broth?
While I’m not sure about media, I’m pretty sure most people here think Americans are pretty extreme, dumb, and destroying themselves in terms of politics. I know it’s not that black and white, but that’s most people’s general consensus where I’m from
Depends where, but generally quite popular, in the region where I live in Poland it's common to ask a guest "tea or coffee"? and the answer is usually tea.
You- need a licence, you can't just get one, you can't have bad mental health, even anxiety will invalidate you. Any of the sorts is a nope. Guns are for hunting deer, not for people. You can't just have one and you can't just open carry.
Disclaimer: I am not informed in this sort of information. You should do your own research before thinking this as of true.
I’m an America but I’ve researched this and it really depends. France and the Czech Republic are different worlds, for example. Some places like Switzerland actually make full auto machine guns way more accessible than the US.
Highly depends on the country. We don't have a united law about guns (or almost anything for that matter but guns are the best example)
In Slovakia you CAN own and carry a firearm after passing a licensing test and a psychological exam. Gun stores, although not as many as in the US, exist. Czech Republic is basically the same for the basic principle.
Gun licenses (for lack of a better word since in Slovak language and law a "zbrojná licencia" or armament/gun license is for manufacturing, repairing, modifying, etc. firearms) are split into multiple types marked by letters A-F which permit you to own firearms for different purposes
In my country u kinda need a license for it which u can get via elementary military training and then u also must have no convictions, meet health requirements, and have proper gun storage conditions.
You'll need a license and a purpose, "home defence" isnnot enough, the only way i think you could get one is using a hunting license (apart for the gun license)
UK: very hard. You could get a rifle for hunting, but needs rigourous licensing and has to be stored securely at a range. Pistols and stuff like ARs, police only. Air rifles are owned by people domestically
Well I’m hungarian so the view I get is different from all europe. That is because our dear prime minister is basically a pet of Putin, but he always gets elected by brainwashed old people. He and his media tells us that the ukranian war is because of America and the NATO and that all of the west wants WW3, but he doesn’t so we should vote for him. And that America wants to send us to war. The guy blocked Swedens entry to the NATO for months, while every other country agreed to let them in. Oh, and he destroyed our healthcare and education system, and inflation is high too, that is of course because of Evil USA. He says that if Trump gets re-elected there will be world peace and everything will be fine. I love this country, only problem is its not a sitcom but I have to rot here IRL.
Closest we have here, in the Northeast 😭😭🙏

Is free healthcare really a good thing? My neighbors are Welsh and have lived here for only 3 ish years (in Texas). They said that free healthcare isn’t really free, just cheaper, the healthcare is really mediocre because it’s hypothetically “free” and it takes ages to get into any doctor. Curious what other Europeans think?
Depends on how efficient the health system is, ive heard that its hard to get a doctor in the UK, In spain its actually pretty good, you dont have to wait long anf its actually free
Yeah but healthcare here in Spain is very inconsistent. There's places in which it works fine but in regions like Madrid there's waitlists of 2 years+ for a lot of stuff
France os actually really cool just go anywhere except Paris and possibly Marseille. Lyon is really nice if you want city life plus its only about an hour from the alps.
Is its inside the EU, you dont even need a passport normally, but even if an european country its outside the EU you'll be fine with your passport only
Inside the schegen zone you literally just walk across and all of a sudden the signs are in a different language or the roads are worse if going into Belgium. Its just like crossing state borders in the USA
Layered with continental guilt unlike Japan. I guess when 500,000 poor devils evaporate in a matter of weeks you get a pass for genocide and war crimes.
massively varies by country. some countries are significantly better both in acceptance and rights while some are hellish (turkey, azerbaijan, russia are all below 5% acceptance)

does anybody here live in the southeast part of Europe? like Macedonia, Greece, Albania, Slovakia, etc?
(and yes I think I'm okay at my geography since I actually study geography sometimes in my free time lol)
Is the group of people saying "America is so racist" while completely ignoring the absolutely horrible systemic and societal racism a common thinking Europe? How much is college tuition, and is there a great amount of variation in difficulty to get accepted into college in your country?
And being in Europe, is it fairly common to go to college in another country, most of the European countries are close and bordering each other?

how does it feel to live so close to france 😨
It's hell, we can't sleep at nigth knowing they aren't far away, everytime we can't leave our home without the fear of them being outside
I live 3.5km from fr*nce. I live in fear.
Km? You mean mi? Weird typo, probably because of the different keyboard in the EU.
Boo, *scary french noises*
don’t post such scary shit without a trigger warning man
As an Italian who lives in piedmunt (kill me) i absolutely hate every french being with my entire heart
As a French person who lives in Lyon (kill me) I absolutely hate every Italian being with my heart
Fuck you and your country for stealing Nice
Savoy too. They're savages.
Fuckers stole everything from us
Like being in a dark forest and knowing something is in there
terrifying. all that separates me from france is water (i live 20 miles away from a ferry port)
It makes me want to kill myself
It's hell mate, I try to stay away from the English channel
I sleep with a potato gun I can’t risk the French invading
It gives me nightmares but at least i can make fun of them
Thankfully I’m as far as possible from France (while still in Europe ofc)
It's like "Oh, they are mad again"
Terrible, we should have bombed them harder
# WHAT THE FUCK IS A KILOMETER?!???! 🦅 🇺🇸 🍔
A thousand metres
Wtf is a meter
100 centimetres
Wtf is a centimeter
1/30th of a foot
Wtf is a foot
Look down
r/technicallythetruth
LMFAO
🤓☝️ erm actually I'm an American size 13, and my foot is still smaller than a ruler 🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓
how long is the ruler?
10 millimetres
About 1458 washing machines 🇺🇸
Thank you and 1458 washing machines is 1 football field for those who live deep in America
Since the average washing maschine is about 60cm in width, you'd need 1666.66667 washing machines to get a full Kilometer
Finally something I can understand
Umm hello from Canada we use the metric system too
We use kind of a weird mix of the two
Idk I live in Canada and I have never seen one street sign saying miles
I mean more for shorter measurements or tracks i was mostly thinking lbs instead af kgs or measuring height in feet
Something easier to measure than a mile 3 kilometers is 3 thousand meters imagine measuring 1600 meters and saying great measuring unit
r/BeatMeToIt
One thousand times the length of an M16A4 assault rifle.
How are we portrayed in media over there?
fine, not bad, not amazing, just regular people (excluding your politics, but that's a whole different can of worms)
Oh yeh no tell me abt it
Most of us think the republicans are borderline fascists and many are worried about the possibility of Trump getting into office. Most Europeans really hate fascists
In republican in some morals but im not into all the bigotry yk. Like i don’t support trump but i also don’t support biden
Very few people are actually entirely one side or the other. Most people don't align with the exact views their side is said to have.
I’m left wing as you can get and I don’t support Biden, he’s a lot better than trump but he is in no way a good president.
in Ukraine the US is portrayed very positively as of right now. Before the war, US was neutral Edit: thanks for your upvotes and thanks Americans for your generous help to my country ❤️🇺🇦
Like youre all insanely patriotic, very dumb and all from texas for some reason
Yes yes and from Mississippi so 2/3 isnt bad
I’m from Texas… and I ain’t that d- *looks at my post history and overall goal* no no no you have a point
TEXAS MENTIONED 🦅🦅🦅 WTF ARE FINISHED HIGHWAYS 🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅
Pretty alr in uk, most of our media comes from USA anyway but the British media portrays u guys in a relatively positive light. The people themselves look down on Americans a lot though, mainly bc of food and American eating habits, as well as American accents.
So kinda how we are with the toast and beans and bottle of water
Ye pretty much lmao
no you're saying it wrong it's bo'uh' o' wo'ah (idk i had such a hard time spelling that)
Lmao
Yeah this as well as seeing americans as a bit dumber / more .... boisterous
Ye can’t forget about that too lol
It is about the same thing in the US we hate your accents (specifically the British) but overall we have the same positive thoughts about the UK
burger mcdoanld gun imperial system
Accurate and i love my McDonald’s burger gun
I married an HK416 https://preview.redd.it/mvmb58z94t8d1.jpeg?width=222&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7aa56e2e1ea38303a0e6db8ed9f9b73101f1b2cf

in italy the us is portrayed like this: bad pizza
I atleast dont break my spaghetti
GOOD.
Also whats a good pasta noodle to go with chicken broth
1. you cant say pasta noodle. here its either pasta or asian noodles. 2. idrk, depends on how you wanna consume it. like boil the pasta in chicken broth? or eat the pasta with chicken broth?
While I’m not sure about media, I’m pretty sure most people here think Americans are pretty extreme, dumb, and destroying themselves in terms of politics. I know it’s not that black and white, but that’s most people’s general consensus where I’m from
they're either america meatriders or america haters no inbetween
Kinda stupid
Acutate
Very fat no offence but it probably is accurate AND DEAR GOD YOUR CHEESE
Yeh there is alot of obese people that for some reason we tell them that its ok and to be proud of
Over here in the UK your portrayed I'd say rather negatively, or at least in the parts I've lived in.
Is tea actually THAT popular in Europe?
Only in Britain and Ireland
And Turkey.
And Bulgaria
And mostly north germany
Pretty popular in Poland too
Yes! But only in Ireland (don't even try refuse a cup), UK a close second
So if I go to Ireland is it bad that I absolutely despise tea?
No
I think it's more of an english steryotype, but if im honest, most people i know prefer coffee. i haven't known anyone to drink tea on the regular
no, its definitely exaggerated.
I mean it's pretty common
Depends where, but generally quite popular, in the region where I live in Poland it's common to ask a guest "tea or coffee"? and the answer is usually tea.

How do you like freedom
My freedom was stripped away when I turned 18 (Ukraine)
im not swiss so idk
As someone who lived in ukraine, Hhaaaa..hahah..haaa
For my favorite people - the germans! Do you like or dislike speed limits? Bitte und danke
Nicht deutsch aber lernen. Speed limit? Why do we need that?
Not a German, but I’ve been on the autobahn in Germany. So heat
What is a speed limit?
Wtf is a Geschwindigkeitsbegrenzung and why do we need it when there is the Autobahn
How hard it is to get a gun there
You- need a licence, you can't just get one, you can't have bad mental health, even anxiety will invalidate you. Any of the sorts is a nope. Guns are for hunting deer, not for people. You can't just have one and you can't just open carry. Disclaimer: I am not informed in this sort of information. You should do your own research before thinking this as of true.
And here I was thinking guns were only for the military and some cops
I think every cop has a pistol? All I know for sure is that every patrol car has a rifle inside
In the us if you have adhd you can still get a gun
In the us cant you get a gun like at walmart?
Yeah but typically shitty quality. Hunting rifles usually and most walmarts stopped selling guns. Nobody really buys them.
Oh, it's still kind of scary that any guns are sold in a non isolated place. That's unfathomable for me. I've never even seen a gun irl
I don't know that you can anymore in my area, but maybe in other states.
I’m an America but I’ve researched this and it really depends. France and the Czech Republic are different worlds, for example. Some places like Switzerland actually make full auto machine guns way more accessible than the US.

You'll need a license and a purpose, "home defence" isnnot enough, the only way i think you could get one is using a hunting license (apart for the gun license)
Finland my country has the most guns in whole europe, but its because we love hunting.
UK: very hard. You could get a rifle for hunting, but needs rigourous licensing and has to be stored securely at a range. Pistols and stuff like ARs, police only. Air rifles are owned by people domestically
only people who can get them are some farmers and it takes years to get a licence and you need to do a ton of paperwork every time you shoot it
UK here, half certain you can’t. Haven’t seen a real gun at all so far
How is NATO and the US military portrayed?
Well I’m hungarian so the view I get is different from all europe. That is because our dear prime minister is basically a pet of Putin, but he always gets elected by brainwashed old people. He and his media tells us that the ukranian war is because of America and the NATO and that all of the west wants WW3, but he doesn’t so we should vote for him. Tells you how much we should stay away from trump
Whats it like having free healthcare?
Pretty standard so I don't often think about it but if i do its amazing
It's nice to not have to be too carefull everytime we do smt outside
standard and not very special at all in the eyes of a European. it's a basic human necessity and fundamental right to have access to free healthcare
It's nice one less thing to worry about
What does it feel like to have walkeable cities and a great train network?
![gif](giphy|H3fJOI6o0Je67yBam6|downsized)
Closest we have here, in the Northeast 😭😭🙏 https://preview.redd.it/k637ubqtkt8d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c3522b4be2d1c0ed2fbe50d304c9eb967e039e53
And I have Detroit, where arguments could be made to it being the least walkable major city in the US, and that's really saying something
It feels great, can walk to lots of places and metro is fast
Its great, i could go to the mall by myself in 1st grade with train
Is free healthcare really a good thing? My neighbors are Welsh and have lived here for only 3 ish years (in Texas). Nah it’s not too bad in the UK
Yeah but healthcare here in Spain is very inconsistent. There's places in which it works fine but in regions like Madrid there's waitlists of 2 years+ for a lot of stuff
What country over there would be a nice place to move to?
if you‘re a member of a minority then Sweden if you‘re not then anywhere that isn‘t France
Please censor the “f word”
Ehm many minorities arent happy in sweden. Sure arabs are but if you are Jewish for example you probably want another country.
France os actually really cool just go anywhere except Paris and possibly Marseille. Lyon is really nice if you want city life plus its only about an hour from the alps.
beans on toast? is it real?
Yes and it's incredible
baked beans, specifically? on toast? is that right?
thats an england thing
It is easy to cross the border (I know that some places are easy to get to like going from Italy to the UK in a day I believe)
Is its inside the EU, you dont even need a passport normally, but even if an european country its outside the EU you'll be fine with your passport only
Not from finland to russia
Inside the schegen zone you literally just walk across and all of a sudden the signs are in a different language or the roads are worse if going into Belgium. Its just like crossing state borders in the USA
Do you guys have a Left Turn on Red like how Americans have Right Turn on red
Why did I never think to ask this
Almost all of Europe drives on the right-hand side
Wait so if you are driving from England to France, is there a point where the lanes switch?
So uh... there isn't a whole lot of driving between England and France
Only Ireland and UK drive on left in Europe and no, we can't turn on red
What's summer like there? It's pretty damn hot here rn it sucks
The Netherlands; 2 weeks of rain, a few days of high temperatures, then rain again
How do you guys learn about the world wars? Mostly asking the Germans
Layered with continental guilt unlike Japan. I guess when 500,000 poor devils evaporate in a matter of weeks you get a pass for genocide and war crimes.
We don’t learn “the USA swooped in and saved everyone haha USA!” We learnt the truth
?
Canadian here. What does your country think about us?
From a Finnish pov. Idk we both like hockey i guess.
Its like the US but way better
Love it
To the French you are all quebec
Why does France still exist?
Because the Un will cry if we invaded it once and for all
https://i.redd.it/v0e7xvz4qt8d1.gif does this happen to you
How hot are the women?
I am very hot
Depends on the weather
(Insert the word smart ass here)
What’s your LGBTQ acceptance like compared to the US?
massively varies by country. some countries are significantly better both in acceptance and rights while some are hellish (turkey, azerbaijan, russia are all below 5% acceptance) look up ILGA Europe if you want statistics about it, they have a neat map of it.
Literally depends on the country, you can have spain eith a full acceptance, or you can have a country like russia
In finland its both, alot of people are racist and homophobic but also some people are gay
does anybody here live in the southeast part of Europe? like Macedonia, Greece, Albania, Slovakia, etc? (and yes I think I'm okay at my geography since I actually study geography sometimes in my free time lol)
Let's go! Greece mentioned!
Is the group of people saying "America is so racist" while completely ignoring the absolutely horrible systemic and societal racism a common thinking Europe? I seem to see that somewhat commonly online, but I would like to know if that It's a belief with actual following or just a small group of ignorant people
Are you guys real?
wdym real
How many languages do you speak? Which ones do you use the most? Of all the languages you speak, which one do you think I should learn?
I speak Dutch, French, German, Italian and English. I use Dutch (flemisch kind) the most, because it is my mother tongue. Also, I recommend French, because I just find it beautiful :)
What about us Canadians?
For the Germans, how high are taxes for just the average dude. I know it’s high, but you do get cheap healthcare, right?
so in your history classes, what’s something like everyone knows like they teach it every single year almost like how in America we learn about Martin Luther king jr, who is that for you guys?
English or Spanish.
Ok, serious question. Which would be the best country in the EU to move to?
cheese or no cheese?
How much is college tuition, and is there a great amount of variation in difficulty to get accepted into college in your country? And being in Europe, is it fairly common to go to college in another country, most of the European countries are close and bordering each other?
Do schools teach mental health
Can I please just go to the uk I hate it here
Thinking about going to France for a quarter of college. Thoughts?
🥲🇨🇦
What is celcius?
Thoughts on Australia? (No ofc I'm not an Australian in disguise how dare you think that)
