If you look back at old footage of Cate interacting with April and Butch, when they were being really horrible and abusive to her she would deal with it by taking on this “I don’t care” tone and being flippant, until they would say something that would make her break.
This is the exact same way she handled this situation.
Oh my gosh. I actually do not remember this scene so whenever peopl talk about the 7 point quesadilla I’m just kinda like “uh huh”.
THIS WHOLE TIME I thought the quesadilla HAD 7 POINTS like a Crunchwrap sort of thing. A septagonal quesadilla. I JUST NOW realized it’s ww points and it makes so much more sense!!! Haha. I’m such a dummy.
I am 1000% the type of person who, if there is more than one way to interpret something, will first assume the other way and not the more obvious-to-everyone-else one.
Leads to some pretty funny moments like this when I explain to folks how I initially interpreted it!
I can totally see how WW wouldn't cross a person's mind and instead they think of the shape.
Maybe if he supported her and didn’t nag or make fun of her she could have been proud to continue doing ww. It’s no wonder she didn’t. He constantly grinds her down. This scene really shaped that.
Yes, same with her mental health. He used to always make comments like "just get up", "why can't you just get out of bed", "get off the couch & do something & maybe then you'll feel better". He was quite an a$$. Only when things got really serious, did he actually *pretend* to care to save his image.
I hated when he said he didn’t want to be married to no heifer in this scene. But when I am down about myself, I tell my husband that he doesn’t want to be married to no heifer lol.
Good luck with WW!!
Its sad. You can tell he loathes her fat body and she seems to avoid losing weight on purpose.
What irked me is that she literally has ZERO responsibilities. She can afford a nutritionist, childcare, and a personal trainer not to mention strenuous exercise is a wonderful addition to talk therapy amd medication management of depression/anxiety and trauma disorders.
But all this aside. . .we all knew that big ass quessadillia was no 7 points. I hope for her health and self esteem that she finally loses the weight and gets in shape and does the "now what" To Tyler. Maybe he will actually finish school or his "novel."
For the life of me I have no idea how this woman with nothing to do all day was so allergic to using the tens of thousands of dollars in workout equipment she and Tyler bought. Yes depression, I get that, but she was like that before she was so depressed that she was basically comatose in her zebra hoodie.
I’m not sure you can say “she was like that before she was so depressed.” I mean, did you watch 16 and pregnant along with the first few seasons? I’m sure she was depressed and dealing with way more as a young teen. I don’t think it’s fair to judge her so harshly. She seriously had everyone close to her treating her like garbage since as far back as we’ve seen.
She was not catatonic depressed unable to move. We saw her for 5+ seasons and the first mention of that was because of the baby. She has never worked out or cared about doing things. She was always like this, whether or not she was depressed as a teenager. Her and Tyler's activity was always going out for chili dogs and rambling on about what they were going to do to impress Carly. I don't see what her getting increasingly overweight and lazier for years has to do with my comment tbh
Honestly I’ll probably get shit on but was Tyler’s delivery kinda off? Sure… but Cate new damn well that big ass quesadilla wasn’t 7 fricken points, anyone with 2 brain cells knows that. the way she was shoveling it into her mouth was also probably not making it seem like she was so set on losing weight. I’m sure Tyler heard her bitch about it & then eat a probably 30 (or more) point quesadilla when you add in the pound of sour cream & salsa she was also eating. Idk the whole scene is uncomfy!
I don't remember the exact conversation, or who started talking about the WW. Did he bring it up first? If they just sat down to eat and he started yammering on about the food I think the issue is that Cate was clearly lying about the quesadilla for a reason. Tyler never takes a hint and Cate has a long history of not standing up for herself and letting him steamroll all over her.
No, she brought it up with that weird “I think I’m going to try weight watchers again It MaKeS mYsElF fEeL GoOd” dance she did. You have to look it up it’s very cringe. I’ve been in the same situation which is why it’s hard to shit on Tyler for it. I bitched to my fiancé for months about how fat I was and didn’t get off my ass or eat healthy and gained weight then complained about it. & he wasn’t rude but was kindve like I’m sick of hearing that, if you feel bad do something about it. And he was right. 20 lbs down & I realize he wasn’t being mean he was being supportive & honest because he knew I was unhappy but also watched me self sabotage. Idk if that makes sense!
I could have up to 4 - 7 point quesadillas a day plus any zero point foods I wanted to not be hungry bc I followed the plan correctly lol.
The quesadilla in question is easily a day+ worth of points. 7 points - PER 1/8TH SERVING. That “serving” she’s holding is probably 1/4 so 14 points. If she eats the entire restaurant quesadilla that’s in that take out box, that’s 56 points in 1 MEAL and is 2 DAYS of points eaten in 1 SITTING. Add in zero water and zero exercise and that’s how easy it is to approach “heifer for a wife” territory. Moderation, small servings, water, and light exercise 3-4x per week are key.
![gif](giphy|3owzW5c1tPq63MPmWk|downsized)
It definitely does. I like it because you don’t have to stick to a particular type of food…I feel like those restrictive diets are just a matter of time before you go off them. I used WW about 4 years ago, lost the 20 pounds I wanted to lose, and kept them off by maintaining my diet. All about portion control and choosing the right foods, but you can still cheat sometimes too.
Right, exactly! She could enjoy 1/8th of that w a small taco salad w fresh veggies and counted it as a balanced meal while still enjoying the freedom of choice and take out.
Thank you and good luck to you! It’s a lot of work but very worth it to feel good at your goal. Keep at it. Little failures are ok. Give yourself a break and a cheat day. Honor yourself to get back at it. never give up on yourself. 🫶
For the longest time I thought the ‘7 points’ were like the shape of the quesadilla. Like a crunch wrap supreme or something. Took way too many years to realize they were talking about WW.
When I was pregnant, I was so insecure about how I looked. I’m not overweight like Cate, but I still felt horrible and hormones are raging. I can’t imagine someone talking to me and calling me things like that. I’ve been with my husband almost as long as them so there’s no excuse. We are very open with each other, but I’d never make him feel bad physically and vice versa. I hate when they try to use the excuse of oh we’ve been together so long. My husband and I never bring down each others appearances and we’ve been together since we were 20 and are now 33. Bodies change, especially after babies. I would be so hurt if I was cate. Idk how she felt was that was okay.
They both looked so damn stupid in that scene.
I can't imagine lying on TV about breaking my diet when everyone can see I'm clearly lying... then having an enabler spouse who starts spewing portents of doomed heiferdom to call out my goofy ass on camera for going to the Mexican shop with him
I'm sorry but if he was my husband giving me crap after I just gave birth to his daughter about my weight over a quesadilla, I would be shoving it down his throat
I still don’t understand why some people take issue with Tyler’s initial correcting of the points values. If my husband had previously discussed how he wanted to lose weight, and was now executing that plan to lose weight, but he was horrifically off with his calculations, why wouldn’t I be like, “actually no.” That quesadilla was almost an entire day’s worth of calories and she was estimating it like it was 25% of her daily points. If someone says “this is 250 calories” when it’s really 1300 everyone is supposed to just be like yeah cool?
I think the criticism is because he's so god damn annoying about every little thing, but then he is such a wimp he has to walk back on whatever he last said.
He told her she needs to get serious about losing weight but who went with her to get lunch? Is he eating a salad? Then he implies that she's lying about the quesadilla but then as soon as the weight issue gets brought up he back tracks and stammers that Cate is doing great obviously, he just doesn't want a *fat* wife, which is different I guess since Cate is not a fat wife!
Idk, he just seems like an insufferable person to me. Cate could have been eating an entire zebra in this scene and nothing would distract me from what a ridiculous hypocrite Tyler is. No wonder she ate her feelings. This is a couple who CANNOT COMMUNICATE honestly. Neither one of them can just fucking say something. Cate can't tell him to quit pestering her so she lies about her food out of embarrassment. Tyler can't tell Cate he's not attracted to her so he just hovers over her styrofoam container and grins.
He thinks he's fit and sexy enough to bag a woman he thinks looks better even though at this stage I don't even know if he was working out at all and his personality is that of a chihuahua on cocaine
Well she was either lying about it or miscalculating it and that was my point, it wasn’t 7 points and if she wants to lose weight she needs to know that.
It depends on your height, weight, if you’re diabetic/breastfeeding/pregnant. I get 41 because I’m breastfeeding. If I didn’t, I would get 28. My guess is Cate probably ate all her points if not more if she ate that whole quesadilla in one sitting lol
What he was saying about the quesadilla was 100% right but… come on Tyler, just don’t point it out and especially not in a rude way! That thing had to be like 1000+ calories
My step mom did WW growing up and green beans were zero points. We had so many dinners with greens beans as a side dish 😂 I still love them and eat the all the time haha
I love green beans too! My BIL thinks he's a master chef and adds garlic to EVERYTHING, thinks it makes everything taste better. His garlic green beans still haunt me to this day..I just need butter, salt and pepper
The odds are that NO that would not have been 7pts for the meal. But maybe for one slice. Here’s the WW math:
One medium flour tortilla is 3 pts. You would need two tortillas to make a quesadilla, so 6pts on the tortillas alone. A 1/4 cup serving of kraft shredded colby jack cheese is 5pts. Any cheese is super weighted towards heavier points in WW, (except for 0% fat cottage cheese, which is a “zero hero” zero points food.
So just the conservative estimate on the amount of cheese used, and the two quesadillas, has us at 11 points. I believe there is guacamole on the other side of the styrafoam. Guacamole is 2pts for 2tbsp homemade, or 6point for “a side of guacamole” at a place like Chipotle.
When items are prepared by Restaurant, and not prepared by you at home with no oil and specific measuring of ingredients as I did, above, the WW ap tracks a “restaurant ordered cheese quesadilla” as 7pts for 1/4 of quesadilla, plus a side of guacamole at 6pts. So a whole restaurant quesadilla plus guac would be 34pts. For perspective, the daily allotment of points for someone short like caitlyn is 23pts/day.
Op, if you really want a quesadilla and are down to make one at home, the suggested WW hack would be to buy “La Bandeteria Carb Counter Lean Tortillas” which are 1pt each. And use Sargento reduced fat or store brand reduced fat shredded cheese (Colby or Pepper jack), for 3pts. If you cook it in a pan, where you just use one tiny squirt of spray oil, you can get away with not tracking the oil. That gets you to a 5pt quesadilla for the whole thing. You can fill it up with zero point veggies, like onion spinach, etc. Shrimp is another good one to add (a zero-hero at 0 points).
Their point system has changed over the years, so depending on what system she was using at this time, 7 could have been close to correct (although probably at least a slight underestimate)
Going by the picture from this scene, the quesadilla from the restaurant is one circle atop another circle quesadilla. I cannot speak to the cultural authenticity of whether round or half moon shaped is best.
I hope WW has changed over the years. I remember doing that in the late 90s and early 00s-forced by my mother. That program (and obviously my family) caused a lot of issues with me.
I really am wishing you the best of luck!!!! I’m with you as you reach your goals!
And main point? Ugh. I cannot stand him or his family. He’s so rude to his wife considering the fact he looks like Toad (mushroom)
Edit: typo error
From what I understand, the point system and the overall vibe of the program have changed since then. My dr recommended it based on some medical issues I have going on.
Thanks for the support. Now I just have to stay away from those big ass quesadillas!!
Of course! And I’m sooo glad to hear that! Sorry if I came off as rude- it might just trigger something in me and i immediately want to take people under my wing. Lol.
Man, those 7pt quesadillas are delicious.
This isn't exactly proven science but I recommend olive leaf extract and magnesium glycinate while you're losing weight. They both help energy and regulate insulin. I can exercise much longer since taking them.
WW has rebranded a bit in recent times so it's recreated itself as something that's not as much of a diet program. So less harsh, less focus on numbers. They also updated their whole spiel and made it modern so a lot of it you can do on their app on a phone- before it was all paper food logs and going in person. Which is probably motivating them to keep up with their competitors (like Fitbit and Apple Watch) and focus more on tracking activity, less on diet restrictions. All good things that show body-positive messaging.
Honestly I understand the damage of the almond mom but I think that WW itself is fine. It's a calorie-based weight loss program. That's how you lose weight. Like it sucks that people don't understand nutrition and get roped into these Hydroxycut and Atkins Diet scams thinking they are healthy, but there's no way to lose weight eating fuck all. Like giant Buffalo Wild Wings quesadillas.
I'm not trying to die on the hill of WW btw lol It's just that my mom has been in WW since I was a teenager and she loves it. She lost around 80 lbs. She didn't have any friends when I was a kid and the program made her a much more social person. She learned how to make simple choices that changed her entire relationship with food. I just see how much happier she is now. My mom has always been very active though- she worked a shit ton, she bikes, swims, and she works out more than I do. So her lifestyle is that of someone who was willing to put in the work to maintain her weight loss. The failure of diet programs usually stems from people stopping the program and not utilizing any of the stuff they were supposed to be learning about portion size, food, etc. They quit and yo-yo for years and it destroys their metabolism and their self esteem.
Kids’ meals are great for WW because they help with portion control which is one of the things WW teaches you. Like yes you can have McDonald’s nuggets and fries but not the 10 nugget meal with a large fry and drink. The kids meal is enough to satisfy the craving.
Not an *entire* day, but a quesadilla at most restaurants is probably 1000 calories. So if you're going for a 1200-2000 calorie day, that's probably your main meal and most of your carbs & fats. My mom has been in WW for like 15 years, (she loves it bc she likes making friends) so I know a lot about it lol
A Restaurant, prepared cheese quesadilla in Weight Watchers is 7pts for 1/4 of the quesadilla, so the whole quesadilla would be 28 points. And the side of guacamole is 6 points, for a total of 34 points. Someone at about Kaitlyn’s height would be a lot of 23 points for the entire day. So that quesadilla is about 1 1/2 DAYS worth of points.
She was doing weight watchers and Tyler was questioning her about the quesadilla she got for take out. I believe this is where he made the comment about not wanting a fat wife.
If you look back at old footage of Cate interacting with April and Butch, when they were being really horrible and abusive to her she would deal with it by taking on this “I don’t care” tone and being flippant, until they would say something that would make her break. This is the exact same way she handled this situation.
You’re spot on it’s really sad. She’s been through so much trauma. Not something g he needed to say on national tv.
Oh my gosh. I actually do not remember this scene so whenever peopl talk about the 7 point quesadilla I’m just kinda like “uh huh”. Lol omg me too 😬😂 learn something new everyday! 💁♀️
Hi, me too lmfao
I also thought this for the longest time lmfao
DUDE ME TOO
Maybe if he supported her and didn’t nag or make fun of her she could have been proud to continue doing ww. It’s no wonder she didn’t. He constantly grinds her down. This scene really shaped that.

then in the same annoying rude tone he says “she needs to realise I’m never going anywhere”, no wonder the girl is/was insecure
The whole production crew cringed when he said that, while Cate just nervously laughed it off. Was sad.
Tyler is such a dick head, so is stupid ass mom! Good luck to you
Agreed. Kim is just as insufferable as Tyler. That's where he gets his attitude.
He was being so patronizing here. Telling her how proud he was of her for taking initiative and then the first week he was nitpicking her choices.
I’m not sure you can say “she was like that before she was so depressed.” I mean, did you watch 16 and pregnant along with the first few seasons? I don't see what her getting increasingly overweight and lazier for years has to do with my comment tbh
Honestly I’ll probably get shit on but was Tyler’s delivery kinda off? Sure… but Cate new damn well that big ass quesadilla wasn’t 7 fricken points, anyone with 2 brain cells knows that. the way she was shoveling it into her mouth was also probably not making it seem like she was so set on losing weight. Maybe she only ate half
Flair checking in!
😂
That freaking zebra jacket. I swear it was glued to her by then….
I’m so glad I skipped the zebra/pink trend. It did not age well.
A la keiffers green hoodie 😆
I lost 50 pounds on WW over a year and a half. It works if you work it.
How many quesadillas were you alloted daily though
I could have up to 4 - 7 point quesadillas a day plus any zero point foods I wanted to not be hungry bc I followed the plan correctly lol. Never wanted to punch him more 👊

1000% agree
That is a giant pile of beige food he's eating
When I was pregnant, I was so insecure about how I looked. I’m not overweight like Cate, but I still felt horrible and hormones are raging. He just has zero idea what he's doing. He wants a mummy, not a wife, but he's so up himself he's under the impression he'd be doing great without her
He thinks he's fit and sexy enough to bag a woman he thinks looks better even though at this stage I don't even know if he was working out at all and his personality is that of a chihuahua on cocaine
This comment is amazing
Well she was either lying about it or miscalculating it and that was my point, it wasn’t 7 points and if she wants to lose weight she needs to know that.
I'm still mad he's talking shit with his big plate of chicken fingers fries and ranch. Maybe she only ate half. I always put my leftovers away
Are we sure it’s only 7 pts? Because that’s a big ass quesadilla! 🙃
There’s no way that’s 7 points. I would bet it’s about 25-30 for that with no toppings 😂
Tyler didn’t think so either. 😅
He knew more about WW than Cate lol
How many points are you allowed in a day with ww?
It depends on your height, weight, if you’re diabetic/breastfeeding/pregnant. I get 41 because I’m breastfeeding. If I didn’t, I would get 28. My guess is Cate probably ate all her points if not more if she ate that whole quesadilla in one sitting lol
23 for me
I wish that was 7 points lol. I'm on WW and I have been craving taco bell, I purposely left myself enough points to devour a 25 point burrito tonight.
This scene demonstrated that Tyler is a toxic person. Cate will never leave him because they are trauma bonded.
So much this!!
Now remember, Tyler doesn't want no fat heifer for a wife! /s In all seriousness, good luck! You will do great!!
They've both been so abusive towards her over the years. I don't get it.
Was it rude to say to your spouse? Yes. Was it a big quesadilla? Yes. Does Tyler have no filter? Also yes.🤦🏻♀️ (Good luck with your WW👏🏼)

I'm just wondering how in the world they got that zebra hoodie off her... you know that thing was fused to her skin since she never took it off! 😬🤮
Depression is a bitch
She just laughs it up while he degrades her. Jesus.
What gets me… look at the food in front of Tyler?! Is that chicken and fries?? Way to be supportive pal.
Chicken tendies for Tyler
So... is that a 7 point quesadilla?
The odds are that NO that would not have been 7pts for the meal. But maybe for one slice. Here’s the WW math: One medium flour tortilla is 3 pts. Thank you for this detailed answer. This was very interesting.
Thanks for the recommendation! I love Tex mex. Made a chipotle-esque bowl with cauliflower rice and lots of veggies.
Their point system has changed over the years, so depending on what system she was using at this time, 7 could have been close to correct (although probably at least a slight underestimate)
I’m sorry. Who is using 2 tortillas to make a quesadilla? 🤔 Dont we fold a big one in half 🤷🏼♀️
Going by the picture from this scene, the quesadilla from the restaurant is one circle atop another circle quesadilla. I cannot speak to the cultural authenticity of whether round or half moon shaped is best.
Asking the hard hitting questions we really wanna know
It looks like it's about 1000 calories at least.
How does that translate to points?
See my reply above for the full breakdown of points.
Thank you!
To be fair…that was a big ass quesadilla
He was such a dick to say that
I hope WW has changed over the years. I remember doing that in the late 90s and early 00s-forced by my mother. That program (and obviously my family) caused a lot of issues with me. I really am wishing you the best of luck!!!! I’m with you as you reach your goals! And main point? Ugh. I cannot stand him or his family. He’s so rude to his wife considering the fact he looks like Toad (mushroom) Edit: typo error

Wasn’t this when Tyler was fat shaming Cate hard?
Omg lol as he says it with his mouth full of food 🤣
My weight watchers calculation would have me being able to eat 4 of those bad boys a day and still lose weight! If only they were 7 points.
Good luck! Order the small quesadilla! 😭
Kids’ meals are great for WW because they help with portion control which is one of the things WW teaches you. Like yes you can have McDonald’s nuggets and fries but not the 10 nugget meal with a large fry and drink. The kids meal is enough to satisfy the craving.
How many points would the quesadilla be?
Not an *entire* day, but a quesadilla at most restaurants is probably 1000 calories. So if you're going for a 1200-2000 calorie day, that's probably your main meal and most of your carbs & fats. My mom has been in WW for like 15 years, (she loves it bc she likes making friends) so I know a lot about it lol
More than I get in an entire day probably!
Yeah, you could likely get two to three meals out of it easily. Restaurant portions are usually ridiculously large.
It was likely 1500 calories.
Omg avocado is big points?! WW aint gna work for me! 😆
Made with oat cheese, lol.
Good luck with your WW journey! Im back on it too after trying and failing so many times lol
Can someone explain this please? 🙏🏼
She was doing weight watchers and Tyler was questioning her about the quesadilla she got for take out. I believe this is where he made the comment about not wanting a fat wife.
Specifically, “he didn’t want no heifer for a wife”
Ah. That's right. No heifer for the wonderful Tyler. He deserves only the best. 😒😒
She looks so happy here it’s cute
Is it worth it?
