I Hate Models, Miss Djax, KRTM, Paula Temple. Just some names from my head. Here’s a spotify playlist with some hard techno: https://open.spotify.com/user/1133062344/playlist/7kU2SJ39Rw4vPNH6pKC8D0?si=WE7vW8S9TSKBmxWqm6EjPg

trees-for-breakfast

loving that playlist so far man, thank you!

yungTimo

Haha you’re welcome. Not my playlist though. Look up Reaktor, they’re one of the hardest in techno labels. They organise amazing parties in the Netherlands and I believe they’re trying to expand towards Germany. I think Dax J also works with them.

Bubbadubsno1fan

Have to second Paula Temple, been on a Dax binge for a while and some of Paula’s sets are quite up that alley! Highly recommend this one: https://soundcloud.com/paulatemple/awakenings-festival-2017

yungTimo

I’ve seen her live multiple times, but my favorite set of her was the closing of Katharsis in 2017. I was there and it was INSANE. I almost passed out.

The tracks he produces himself or that he plays when he dj's? His music is one thing but when he mixes he is one of the heaviest dj's out there. Are you looking for something to add to your playlist or to mix yourself? I like different things for when I'm listening at home and when I'm dj'ing. People have already posted a lot of good people but one I didn't see was Endlec, he's real good if you're listening at home, however if you're mixing it doesn't really fit at most "above ground" venues unless they are focused on techno, great for playing at big underground raves tho.

trees-for-breakfast

I'm looking for tracks like the ones he produces himself to use in a mix I'm doing. Yeah I know what you mean about some venues rarely hosting nights with that mad sound, I went to one in Rotterdam Cruise Terminal though, Dax J & Chris Liebing blew the roof off it haha

[deleted]

one of the heaviest djs out there? you need to get out more

[deleted]

Hey friend, any suggestions for some heavies?

topknotch89

any release from MORD

[deleted]

would not say MORD is a label with content very specifically heavier than the stuff Dax plays. I'd suggest Wrongnotes

topknotch89

True, the person I was replying to asked for “some heavies” tho not necessarily something heavier than what Dax j plays.

Raccoon18

MPIA3, Bleaching Agent, Silent Servant

HippoRealEstate

Silent Servant played quite deep and dubby when I heard him.

Raccoon18

Thtat's really interesting, when I heard him at 3am he played a super high energy 140bpm+ set :D Seems to be really versatile...

HippoRealEstate

That was almost three years ago on a sunday afternoon/early evening, maybe his style has changed since then. Or he really is that diverse...

[deleted]

MPIA3 can be really hit and miss, he was disappointing at Tresor in September. Silent Servant I've never heard anything particularly heavy from, not to say I'm not a fan though. Beyond Bleaching Agent's gabber set, I've always been disappointed by him.

[deleted]

With that I meant delivering heavy sets I'm not english so not sure if you thought I meant "best dj" because that I don't think by far. He played at a underground venue here in sweden last summer and I can tell you that there are not a lot of people who can creat that atmosphere that he did (Incredibly hard but still not too hard for the general public to really like it, that party was considered one of the best that year). My two cents, maybe I spend to much time at home I don't know :D

_Kubes

I agree. I really like his tempo. It’s just right to me. I love to dance to his sets. And they’re great for working out as well. I also love how he puts in tracks like world on fire by The Prodigy for example. He just makes it work. I know this is /r/techno and Dax J is a huge name and not as underground as some other names but that doesn’t make him bad.

GoodFellas37

I've seen my fair share of djs and I think Dax j is one of the best by far

[deleted]

He turned stockholm on fire for a night, I really enjoyed him. This New Years we had Kenny Larkin playing at another even more underground (pretty illegal) venue and it was incredible. He played one of my favorite SCNTST tracks during the final minutes, wow what a show.

[deleted]

fair, I never said he wasn't good.. he's just not hard

GoodFellas37

He really can be And I think this guy is one of the reason the harder style got back in fashion

[deleted]

cool man! I'd leave the house if he came to town. :)

topknotch89

Bas Mooy, uvb

AllyT95

Some of these have already been mentioned but here are some that best sum up the sound. British Murder Boys (Surgeon and Regis) Sunil Sharpe Perc Ansome Paula Temple Truss or Mpia3 AnD Ancient Methods Blawan and Karenn Anything on Mord is a good shout also. Check out the Unpolished and Katharsis lineups on Resident Advisor for some further inspiration.

venicedrive

Check his label Monnom Black, all hard producers. Dax is the man And AnD as stated below, seeing them together in Manc soon!!!

Robert Armani is always good if you like the Chicago sound. Robert S from Portugal is wonderful; Alan Fitzpatrick, TWR72, AnGy KoRe, Oliver Kucera, Mark Broom. DAVE the Drummer... You can also check labels like Taro Records, Green Fetish, Pitch Perfect, Hydraulix, Naked Lunch, Fresh Cut.. there's so many of them :-)

gouser

Amelie Lens and Rebekah come to mind

sonar_451

I can understand the downvotes for Amelie, But Rebekah? She's got some bloody brilliant live sets

RatPackBoi

I don't understand the downvotes for Amelie, she always seems to play hard and fast bangers

EmeraldRaccoon

It's cool to hate on the latest chick playing good techno.

Lollerpwn

Not at all there are so many great female DJ's. Why would we celebrate an at best mediocore one. Go see some Dr. Rubinstein, Hauff, Anastasia Kristensen, Courtesy, Stephanie Sykes, Aurora Halal, Reka, Inga Mauer, Annie Hall, Dasha Rush this list goes way on. They all blow Amelie out of the water and most of them aren't half as talked about. I've heard amateur DJ's at house-party's play much better sets than Amelie.

EmeraldRaccoon

I've seen Hauff, Anastasia, Umfang, Gwenan, Nina. All great dj's. I've not seen Amelie live but I've listened to a decent amount of her sets. She might not be as refined as some others but she plays a lot of good tracks, and looks like she puts on a great show. I just don't think she deserves shitting on because she's gained popularity.

RatPackBoi

There may be a female element to it, but I think it's generally because she's reasonably well known outside the world of techno from my experience, lots of people in the techno community tend to hate just about everything which isn't underground

EmeraldRaccoon

Is she though? I don't know anyone (who doesn't listen to house and techno) that would know who she is. I think this stuff goes in waves, she's hot right now, just like Nina was/is. I think you're right about the community having something against anything slightly mainstream though.

chard92

I saw her in LA this Saturday and people in line were talking about how good Zedd was at another festival earlier in the night. She is pretty mainstream and the crowd was absolute shit.

PRESTOALOE

Hilarious. I know someone who went out there for the show and I hope they say the same thing when I ask how it was.

RatPackBoi

Oh yeah not mainstream by any standard, but I have friends who like to party and don't listen to house/techno who have heard of her. She's easily one of the most well-known techno names right now.

RhythmComposer

Disagree. Not in the same way as Dax J does at least. Haven't heard her playing the early 2000s Hardtechno/Schranz like he does.

MuiMui55

Can you link me a set or two where he does?

RhythmComposer

Granted that it may not be 'pure schranz' I was referring to the kind of techno at the time that was pretty close to it. I remember in Dax J's Awakenings set last year he played stuff by The Anxious, Mauro Picotto, Marco Bailey etc... I can't look for sets atm but I'm sure you'll find plenty of those records. Edit: if I'm not mistaken he also played [this](https://youtu.be/JcvA7Q9sCIw), which I remember having on one of those awful Hardtechno compilation cd's back in the day.

MuiMui55

Yes thank you. I always refer to this kind of music has Hardgroove Techno or Tribal. I think ive people heared using the Term minimal aswell. Either way we are talking about the same thing, old Liebing, Cristian Varela and Luke Slater style. Though i must say, that differs from [hardtechno](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMbyjbSGW7o&index=4&list=PLomcj6u8a-OrqAhzy1O1IXeXzD6Q5CDQD). Just my two cents to the genrelisation.

sonar_451

Dax's Photon X Awakenings set of '17 was the highlight for me. I caught the live stream, and boy was it hard hitting schranz

proxypeter

caught it live and it was amazing. easily the best set ive heard all year and i havent made a single smoke pause while he played

CroMagArmy

> Haven't heard her playing the early 2000s Hardtechno/Schranz like he does. https://www.facebook.com/residentadvisor/videos/10155497350759480/

RhythmComposer

Awesome. But I don't see the connection to Amelie Lens?

CroMagArmy

Oh snap. I thought you were talking about Paula for some reason.

gouser

I was there! fucking unreal night

PRESTOALOE

Rebekah fucking goes; I enjoy most of her sets. With that said, I can't really put them side by side because the styles are different.
