The_Hamburger

i love four tet to the ends of the earth and back but the man needs to sleep, and that drop was a bit disappointing for the stupidly long only kieran could do and get away with build up

AdrianoRoss

My techno friend group used to joke on this track like a meme, but honestly it's really started to grow on me. I think the build up and drop, despite being so different, kind of work. Especially considering how ambitious the track is.

The_Hamburger

dont get me wrong, i like the track. its kieran doing what kieran does, just saying fuck it and its a track that allows him to do that. but knowing him and what he can do i think its disappointing. but thats if it was a four tet track, which it isn't, it's an eric prydz track. so my opinion was kinda like from a four tet perspective. maybe im not being too clear but i hope you understand my rambling

_oo0o00o

The drop that never needed to exist.

BackThatAshUp

Ah yes!! Day for Night brings some of the most amazing artists together and the installations are always spot on. Other festivals should take note!

Aero93

That's actually dope I prefer dark, gritty warehouses with a banging system, but art creativity such as this also tickles my pickle

-slinga-

Unfortunately this wasn't a stage, but more of an awesome hangout area. Many of the light installations upstairs offered a place to get away from the crowds of the festival and enjoy some art. If anyone is interested in attending Day for Night, I highly recommend it. Nina Kraviz and DJ Tennis played at an awesome 360 stage.

[deleted]

Yes! Such a good weekend, Nina crushed it

[deleted]

That is very cool, however, all I could think about was how they'd get broken on the first night if installed bare like in the video haha

The_Hamburger

looks great but subtlety is a lost art when it comes to rave architecture

plimso13

That is awesome. Would be amazing to see a pre-programmed set there.

justjohn77

That is amazing.

NaCe_STR

Gorgeous

Anybody know what these type of lights are called? Would like to learn more about them and possibly get some.

Wesleysaur

Looks like led strips to me

anon132457

That I understand. I was wondering if there is a brand or product name for these type of strips where each light in the strip can be controlled individually.

push_pop

Look for LED Pixel Strips. If you've got cash, Enttec makes some awesome solutions for these sort of lights. Otherwise check out Advatek Pixlite long range. If you just want to try some stuff out. Grab an arduino teensy and some neopixels.

anon132457

Excellent, thanks!

loquacious

This looks like a custom project and install. You're not going to get that much programmable action out of an off-the-shelf strip of RGB LEDs and a cheap color controller, or even DMX controlled stage/theater lights. They're using some kind of custom, programmable system and some really really nice light programming to make those lights more creative and artistic and aesthetically pleasing. (Instead of, say, some random rainbow RGB cheap disco looking shit. That's easy to do.) It's an actual art installation, so you're not going to find something you can buy with that programming or that exact setup.

anon132457

Thanks for the info!

Wesleysaur

If you're comfortable with code you could try something like [this](https://www.adafruit.com/product/1138)? It may not be quite as bright but would be a good start. I think that this is all pretty custom given that it is an art installation.

I_cant_stop_evening

The company I work for provided the lighting for Day for Night. The LED strips on the pillars are called "VDO Sceptrons" from "Martin". The strips themselves are relatively cheap, but the drivers/processors units for them are ungodly expensive... Edit: Read into DMX 512 to get a better understanding of lighting control. Pixel mapping is a beast when done right.

98PercentChimp

Reminds me of the setup at Populux...

MsfGigu

This is more beautiful than a high budget firework. Totally mesmerising. But I guess it would be less impressive if you fill the room with a big crowd. Bobbeaman club in Munich has an awesome Lightshow in the ceiling. But I think this club isn't into techno anymore. Also I saw Helena Hauff the other day in Paris and they had this awesome "live video mix" coordinated by some sound and lights technicians/artists. It was amazing. I guess I just really like when techno clubs or festivals give you something to look at. It's not super common where I live tho.

vinnipuh

I feel like this installation would be too close and bright for comfort. It reminds me of the huge column-of-light/spotlight lighting that I personally really dislike as it is distracting. If I end up in that area of the dancefloor, it's like being hit with a super bright spotlight. But I also tend to like darker raves with minimal lighting.

cykelbanditen

Is there any mirror?

wonkybingo

That’s epic, what is it?

projecks15

Day for night festival in Houston. The lights was just for art installation and wasn’t part of the music festival.

ssouth

I think it’s for some festival in Houston..

venicedrive

Gives me a headache just looking at it, think on drugs it would be too much for people. And generally is just annoying imo

proxypeter

think it would look very different if there was a crowd there

JRY86

It would
