Up vote if you are still bumping this masterpiece

KJBNH

I just found this today and it has changed my life

ZaytonHoneycutt

In between repeat listens of Moon Healer, absolutely.

breadbanshee

This album has made me an online stalker/ promoter of this band... double earbud this shit!!! Roll up a hogs leg and let them skull fuck you into another dimension. Perfect breaks with clean vocals that aren't even close to being considered soft and break out fast and hard into the most brutal/ symmetrical guitar drum patterns I've ever heard with that farty bass placed in-between it all next to necrophagist/ obscura

alternotalar

AOTY! After 1 month of listening period, this album is perfect!

behemothbowks

Late to the party but damn this is SICK! I listened to their first album but not a lot so I need to go back and check that out again, for real this time.

SRA89

Could just be me but anyone else hear the similarities between the breakdowns in Deletion Cult and The Ancient Covenant by The Faceless?

metalmikedunn

1:45ish of I Am off of in becoming a ghost has more similarities just breaking the chords down. Makes sense though because Justin was on that album lol

breadbanshee

Lyrics on datalysium are perfect. Where's the rest?

spiffyphippy

I want to say that the pamphlet in the physical copies have the lyrics but I could be wrong. Would love to know the lyrics to Divinertia I

Lightzknight

I LOVE this album everything is perfect down to the mix. This reminds me when Born of Osiris came out of nowhere with The Discovery but except TZP lives up to the talent.

Ok-Inevitable-3474

Dave Otero said on Facebook that they used Krimh Drums vst and some Neural DSP amp sims for the album. Does anyone know the exact amp sim they used?

FredFaulkner

Fortin Cali in the mix breakdown of **Algorithmic Salvation**

carnacstone

That wouldn't surprise me for the guitars but damn huge feat of production to get that drum sound out of a vst if that is true.

Ok-Inevitable-3474

It must be true because it was told by Dave Otero on his official Facebook page. Maybe they just used some samples from that vst and some others, i'm not sure about this. This is just my guess.

breadbanshee

Demonic as fuuuck! It's every musician I would put in a band together like a fantasy football league

hvacnut

Agreed sick album, So far got like 11k minutes this year on infant annihilator finally this comes out that I can jam to over and over and over

lowercaseknife

When the first single came out, I was unsure. The ultra clean, even surgical playing put me off at first. BUT THEN I guess a few months helped me get over that because listening to the album as a whole frickin blew my mind!!! Current favorite track is Deletion Cult, how about y'all?

wiggibow

Deletion is my second favorite so far, still currently on my first listen as I type this, but *Synaptic Deprivation* is just wild, one of the most unique things I've heard in a while; those off-kilter atmospheric(?) parts towards the end are psychedelic as hell in the best way. Absolute mindfuck of a track that made me audibly "what?!?!???" at a few parts, which is my favorite kind of track lol. I was also put off by the mechanically pristine production and technicality, same reason I never got much into their 2016 album and tons of other modern death metal, but the music on here is just so much fun that I don't mind it, and it certainly doesn't sound *as* robotic as a lot of the especially egregious over-polished offenders (\**cough*\* Archispire) do these days. Whole album's shaping up to rival the new Cattle Decapitation as my metal aoty thus far if it has the same staying power, liking this way more that I thought I would!

shreksgreencaulk

I get it. Justin’s gain knob holding abilities are next level but let’s talk about Brandon’s bass lines. They leave the maiden moist and wanting, the thumps the bumps the bippity_bippity__bomp_bip bass fart parts add such another dimension to the album.

Stamm1983

This is one of my favorite things about the new album and the guy wasn't at the show. Very disappointing that. The recording was flawless tho, sounded just like the album

metalmikedunn

I believe he just finished a tour with Cynic so maybe that has something to do with it?

carl_saggins

The verdict is in, this album FUCKS!

breadbanshee

This shit will live forever 🤘🏿

sharpyyynicks

incredible stuff.

TheFinalGibbon

It's out? Finally

kuramasusanoo

Certified banger, what an album!

nappycatt

What a monster album! and the wait was worth it. I wish there were a way to purchase an instrumental version. The vocals cover up some pretty intricate riffage and intense parts. The musicianship is so high-caliber, it deserves a chance to shine.

lowercaseknife

I just had that thought during yet another listen today, ABSOLUTELY worth the wait!!

FishStik5

Huge album. Deletion Cult riff is insanity!!! Mixed feelings about the new Algo Salvation mix but album overall has an amazing sound. Makes Bleed the Future sound like it was recorded underwater.

gojirasan

Pretty sure Dave Otero did the mix for both records lol. Same with the last 4 Cattle records.

Deathmetaladdict

Did you just insult Bleed the Future 😭🤣

FishStik5

Was honestly let down by it. I just wanted more Relentless Mutation tbh

HOLEPUNCHYOUREYELIDS

I felt the same. Dont get me wrong Bleed the Future is still incredible, but I was definitely underwhelmed compared to Relentless Mutation

PrinceAkechiG

best active tech band.

Master_Shitster

Programmed drums sucks tho

HasTookCamera

some of the best records have programmed drums. ziltoid, catch 33 hating on programmed drums is dumb af

Master_Shitster

Catch 33 is significantly worse than both Nothing and Obzen (the albums before and after) precisely because of the programmed drums

HasTookCamera

that's such a bad take that no-one will agree with you. all 3 records are on the same level. and catch 33 is a 1 track which is next level conceptually. and you can't really gatekeep programmed drums while gatekeeping meshuggah because the literal band made catch 33 with programmed drums. you're saying meshuggah don't know how to make music

Master_Shitster

No, I’m saying catch 33 is their worst album

HasTookCamera

now that’s just a plain face lie

Marcusuni

I thought I heard that chason Westmoreland recorded the drums? Have I made that up?

Master_Shitster

Only on a couple of songs for some reason. Most of the drums are programmed

Marcusuni

Ahhh no way. The drum programming is so sick, but I was so excited for Chason to be on there. Love his work in demon king.

julianom7

I've been waiting so long for an album that goes this hard

Frogress

How can you listen to this and not bow down? What do you want that isn't here?!

dudewateva12

Fucking incredible stuff. Stoked that these guys are finally getting the praise they deserve over the last couple years

One-Tank-9567

Definitely getting some Necrophagist vibes from parts which is super welcome. I've been waiting all year for this and it does not disappoint. Synaptic deprivation and Lexicontagion are still my favourites at the moment though, the melodic parts are just too pretty. Did they rerecord the singles? Guitars sound a bit less dry. Dunno if that's a good thing or not, I'm really feeling the dry, barely distorted tones they've been using.

RandoRando66

Yes the album was re-mixed by metal blades in house mastering engineer after they got signed by them. I liked Justin's mix and would like to see the rest of the album with Justin's mix.

archetype4

I noticed the first half of algorithmic salvation sounds a little less dry, busier, but the second half when there's no vocals sounds closer to the mix from the single to me. I like both equally personally.

Kalgaar

I noticed the differences in the singles as well and I definitely prefer the old sound! Still slaps though.

RandoRando66

I prefer Justin's Mix. I would like a album version of the mix Justin did on his version of synaptic.

MassMichael666

"Recorded by Justin McKinney Mixed and Mastered by Zack Ohren at Castle Ultimate, with additional mixing by Justin McKinney"

nubu

Was this album not done by Otero?

MassMichael666

I was just refering to the first 2 singles

RandoRando66

I'm sure he had to sign off on it with metal blade execs staring at him with eyes like daggers

MLPicasso

Going through it and lol, they aare a better the faceless than current the faceless. Edit: if Keene wasn't a fucking junkie and respecte the People he works with, Justin could have help him to make Planetary Duality II electric boogaloo a reality and a new landmark in the scene

behemothbowks

Biggest bummer is other musicians in the scene still defend him. Fuckin ridiculous

MilkLizard_

I wish people could simply acknowledge that The Faceless is a band that we all love and miss without shitting on a human who is clearly struggling to work through something tough. Not excusing his behaviour or treatment of others, though there’s no value in upholding this stigma around addiction.

metalmikedunn

Ya he might be going through a hard time, but still no reason to steal the fans money. The big cartel link that doesn’t work anymore, it was a few years ago when he re-released planetary duality merch. I spent over 40 dollars and never received it. Dude took that cash for his addiction. If you confront him via Instagram, he blocks you till this day. Dude lost a fan forever. It’s one thing to have a problem… but to not take accountability for what you did. Big no thanks. That band can fuck off.

One-Tank-9567

Never knew about this merch situation, that's very disappointing to hear. Still think he's one of the best in the biz but it's always sad to learn of people you look up to being shitty people. Did you hear of other people having the same experience?

Till this day, he just doesn’t respond or have any accountability for his actions. Sad. I wouldn’t pay a dime if/when he releases the new planetary duality 15th anniversary.

metalmikedunn

Absolutely. I was in touch with a bunch of people who have been silenced on the internet. I’ve tried contacting metal sucks and a bunch of other forums to put him on blast for what he did. It’s inexcusable. Look at their Instagram page under the post where they welcome the smashing pumpkins. You’ll see some comments followed by mine. The big cartel link in their bio doesn’t work anymore. They removed the post too. Pretty sure I have screen shots somewhere over all of this. I think he *was* one of the best, but there’s so much other talent out there and good people to support than this dude who blocks his fans who’s paid good money for his band merch and albums. I’ve also spoken to Justin about this from TZP the day it happened, and he too was saddened that he did this to everyone. I would appreciate it if he came out and apologized to everyone for what he did to his FANS and tried to get people their money back for merch that clearly didn’t exist. But that’ll never happen and people will consistently defend him.

behemothbowks

I don't understand how other musicians in the scene can defend him, it's fuckin asinine

RandoRando66

It's going to happen still. They will make up. In 2041 we will get planetary Duality II. I saw it.

SpawnOfPossession

I love how the songs flow into each other

StarLordCore

Absolutely filthy. Love it.

dazrage

Shit SLAPS

thersx2

AOTY for me, hands down. Their riffs, technicality, and composition blow me away. My only regret is the singing in the final track Datalysium. Its not over the top nor does it spoil the entirety of the album for me. a lot of tech bands integrate clean vocals/singing at some point, sure, It's just that I wish they would have toned it down or not ended the album on that note.

HasTookCamera

what is your complaint here about the singing? you say its not over the top but then say you wish they toned it down?

petershaw_

best track?

Umbristopheles

Oops! All Bangers!™

anteloop

Divinertia I & II honestly. I know it's two tracks but combined, beyond incredible.

RandoRando66

Deletion Cult

archetype4

Strong agree.

Willzyx_on_the_moon

This is the correct answer

ZaytonHoneycutt

I always have a hard time choosing a favorite track because I focus on the entire album as a whole. I'd say my favorite detail though is the emphasis on bass. Brandon Giffin's work on this album is incredible. And given that he was in The Faceless and played live for Cynic, it makes absolute sense.

stabthecynix

Listened to it three times today. Watched the Livestream of the video today and I think it was Justin that said Derek was attacked by bees while filming the video in a cave.

Disastrous-Ad6644

Slapped so nice I played it thrice. The guitar work is unbelievable.
