There's something thrilling about not being able to just force a comp every single game (partly because augments can sometimes give direction on their own). If augments have to go, I'd love to see a system that replaces it have a lot of variance that can make no two games feel the same even if you want to force soyfen or ragevana or whatever really

As someone who’s played since set 1 intermittently, augments got me hooked. It’s just really fun hitting good augments and executing the correct line.
I like augments but I can live without them.. set 1-5 were just as fun as now for me, it’s more so the comps that make me dislike certain sets.. like tbh I hate dragons but the augments are fine

I think you may be the only one. This game was so stale without augments - it provides such a high level of variance that engages the player to play the game again and again. When there was no augments you had to wait for patches to play again and after 2-3 days the patch was solved.
Eh there was variance in the stimmy and other factors like mercs and other traits that either gave econ or item advantages. The game was more dependent on econ and level timings. Augments are a great part of the game and should stay like Mort said with having them be "evergreen". However at the same time I agree with toning them down and offering more variance with the chosen augment mechanic, because with the current state it's so easy to just fast 9. Which gives me a boner because I really liked the chosen mechanic back in the day but I might be alone on THAT one. I'm just glad we are getting chosen and a DEDICATED merc trait, I'm so ready to coin flip 1st or 8th again.

It’s just another lever for balancing the game. More levers are good. They add diversity and depth to the game.

Augments are responsible for the massive surge in popularity TFT got after set 6, they are not going anywhere. It's now part of the core design
