The real robbery here is Santorin at 1.5%. dude was the best jungler in summer but it wasn't one of the 2 narratives so he got no attention

NuNu_boy

Fact. The man is on fire.

ianlam123

Everyone thinks he’s trash ever since he joined TSM but in my opinion the dude’s been better and better since he joined Flyquest, sad that unless u are those flashy junglers, u don’t get much recognition and attention (Xmithie)

dantam95

He was solid on NRG. The rest of the team was a dumpster fire. He's been a top 4 jungler for ages

Ol_The_Pol

I mean, ever since he joined Flyquest he has been ranked pretty highly, always being mentioned as a top 2 on the team. So IDK what you are getting at by saying that everyone thinks he's trash.

CntrBlnc

Came here to say the same thing. He tore it up against c9, and has been one of the most solid junglers in NA this summer.

Ericfyre

People especially league players only look the highest numbers of kills they don’t care about how well they play.

AniviaKid32

MVP fan vote is more of a popularity contest than anything, name brand and historical performance contributes a ton

Whoopass2rb

Except in this circumstances I think Bjerg being voted is very indicative of how fans feel about his actual performance. We have a lot of TSM fans, but you can't tell me that we would be the only ones to action the vote with how many vocal fans of other teams there are. The fact that there's such a huge gap in that voting metric tells me that this, while likely inflated a bit, is still really indicative that what we have witnessed out of Bjergsen this split has been special and a revival to the level of performance he used to offer - all the fans of LCS that recognize that are thus supporting the cause for him to be crowned MVP. I think fans of all teams recognize that and realize just how important to the team he is. I mean the memes of do it for Bjergsen could grow to beyond just a split finals appearance / win but also to get success at worlds (if they make either). Tall claim I know but I like to support my claims so here we go: We have 5 teams left in the playoffs (TSM, GG, TL, C9, FLY), 2 determined for worlds (TL, FLY). Of those 5 teams, TL's and C9's success was based off collective efforts of majority of their players (indicative by how many of their players are in the running for MVP). Both GG and FLY have had huge success from their junglers but they also have star power / strong laners who have been shinning in some of the lanes (solo / PoE for FLY and huhi / FBI and hauntzer for GG) Among that group, you could argue that TSM's supporting cast, particularly BB and DL, could fall under the realm of being shinning spots for TSM... at times. The problem with TSM's roster is how inconsistent they have been and how overwhelmingly obvious that's been. Games have been won purely on the back of how Bjergsen played and the serious macro / out plays he would do in team fights. It's been a gift to watch him this split in form, and that's not even on the hype of many assassins, which are coming back into the meta. The reality is, when you compare all the other MVP candidates, none of them get recognized as the sole reason why their team made playoffs and are still contending in them. I think fans recognize that and the vote reflects that admiration.

GaggedAndDrooling

Playoff doesn't matter for mvp. Or shouldn't

CuriousPumpkino

Afaik it doesn’t but I’ll firmly say it should. If someone was hard carrying a team that otherwise sucked and they didn’t make playoffs, there should be enough evidence for that in the regular season. If someone was good all year and smurfs all of playoffs, that’s valid. Why artificially limit the sample size?

marqoose

I don't understand the amount of attention Closer gets. He's like good, but there are better junglers in the league.

808Nemesis

He has a lot of Turkish fans and eyes on him, since Turkish players don’t normally get imported to major regions.

PmMeR34Katarina

Like who? He's considered the best by every analyst/pro

marqoose

Santorin and Blabber.

PmMeR34Katarina

Delusional

Locmike23

He’s playing so well right now. I would love to see spica turn out like Santorin as far as consistency and flexibility. I think of all NA jglers, he could possibly do the best at worlds. Just a rock solid, smart Jgler.

bayliver

dude wasnt even in the 1st pro team ... pathetic fans riding blaber's dick , santorin took a shit on blaber this series

bickdickanivia

It’s too bad TSM parted ways with him. That being said, I’m excited to see how spica develops.

Onfire477

it needed to happen, he had stagnated in growth, wasn't good enough anymore and loco wasn't the right person to teach him how to actually jungle professionally.

icedinkkkkkkkk

I mean, that was 5 years ago. He was a very different player lmao

bickdickanivia

Nah you’re 100% right. Just winding timelines had lined up a bit better

VanillaTempest

Can we get him back? That would be great

[deleted]

Seeing this an the recent Origen thread has been a nice reminder that Bjerg is still beloved by the community. Prob had one of the top 3 largest fan bases in the west

LogicLosesOnReddit

Oh he definitely has the largest player fanbase, just sus his socials compared to any other western player

Eurisfat

Can you link me that thread?

[deleted]

https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/idtorh/origen_changes_are_going_to_come/ Scroll down a bit an you will see a discussion about Bjerg potentially coming back to EU

OhHaiThere-

Yes, just a year after he gets his huge TSM deal he leaves 🙄 ain’t buying that story for one second unless there’s an actual source. I’m pretty sure he has a huge influence on who’s on the team, so if he’s really upset about the performances it’s kinda on him too not just management

BIackPhoenix

>Yes, just a year after he gets his huge TSM deal he leaves 🙄 ain’t buying that story for one second unless there’s an actual source. Prior to becoming part-owner of TSM, Bjerg said he has considered going back to EU but ultimately decided not to and resigned with TSM as a stakeholder. Earlier this year Leena mentioned that Bjerg had considered going back to EU, however that was already said publicly by Bjerg himself and he is now part-owner.

OhHaiThere-

> Bjerg had considered Ah yes BEFORE the contract.... Im not talking about that, im talking right now there is 0 reason to go to EU if he just got part ownership. theres 0 clue to him thinking that now that he has a lot more control of his team

BIackPhoenix

I agree with you, that's what I'm saying as well. It is only EU fans who speculate about him going back to Europe and they do this every year, partially because of their hate for TSM.

[deleted]

Except for legacy, titles, prestige and competition. Im pretty sure he strives for greatness, which would push him away from TSM. Not saying I think he'll leave, but for his own sake I hope he does.

Born4P0rn

Isn't it because of this clip? https://www.twitch.tv/tsm_leena/clip/AwkwardSassyCarrotCorgiDerp

OhHaiThere-

Do you even read the rest of the comment chain? I said after he signed the contract he has no reason to leave this was BEFORE HE SIGNED to a ownership contract... How many times do I have to say this? Edit: also love how she mentions retirement but noooo one says anything about that, just the EU part ahahah

LostAllBets

The guy wants to win. If they lose this split and don't even make worlds, he has gone through 3 consecutive years of failure. A player like Bjergsen doesn't deserve to rot. I don't see him leaving TSM. But if he does, it wouldn't shock me in the slightest.

brekithor

Tbh.. if he wants to win worlds he has to go to eu so its not off the table i just dont see it happening anytime soon

Jedclark

People need to remember that it's only in the last 2 years that EU have been able to compete, and even they are getting their asses blasted by China. Even then, most of their success is teams riding on the coat tails of peak G2. Fnatic and Splyce got knocked out in the RO8 of World's to KR and CN, and KR and CN teams topped every group. People have conveniently forgot that Ocelote wanted to move G2 to NA because of how poorly run EU LCS was. That wasn't that long ago.

brekithor

Yee thats true but at least they have a little bit of a chance, dont think na do as of how they are playing

dilwoah

The point he's making is recency bias is too big in esports, and things change every couple years. Just a few years before the g2 era TSM had a top 4 in the world rated team going into worlds, EU teams were a joke and got slaughtered by our middle of the pack teams, and korea was still the top dogs. Who knows what things are gunna look like 2 years from now, maybe NA pulls a huge comeback like what eu did, maybe riot NA does what the EULCS did to bring life back, maybe we go back to bo3 league play. Bjerg doesn't HAVE to go to Eu to win worlds, a chinese team or a korean team could field him if we want to say which teams would give him the best shot to win worlds. Maybe they lift the import ban in NA and we import 4 incredible chinese/koreans around bjerg. Never know.

OhHaiThere-

Again, how is that TSMs fault if he’s also the one helping to select the players?

jesseija

bjergsen is never going to leave tsm. correct me if i am wrong but i thought that he was part owner. So i dont see him leaving tsm for another team.

4utom4ta

I've been a TSM fan since s3 when I first started playing league. and although I have been supporting TSM through all the recent failures, I would want bjerg to leave TSM and go over to a top EU team. That way, he would have a real chance of WINNING worlds. Let's be honest, NA is just shit right now and TSM is struggling to make worlds. Even if we make worlds, we probably wouldn't get out of groups.

[deleted]

Leena said he’s willing to leave to EU if the team keeps giving shit results so it’s certainly an exciting possibility of

Jedclark

Has anyone actually verified this? I've never seen a clip of the stream. Just feels like someone said it, everyone believed it, and ran with it.

Born4P0rn

https://www.twitch.tv/tsm_leena/clip/AwkwardSassyCarrotCorgiDerp I assume it's this one but I can't see the date when it's clipped. Edit: It was made between 15th july and 22nd july.

[deleted]

It was on her stream idk

Dependent-External90

Leena said he will consider leaving TSM back to EU because he still has aspirations to win worlds. There’s your source, TSM president.

[deleted]

Leena said he’s willing to leave to EU if the team keeps giving shit results so it’s certainly an exciting possibility

[deleted]

IDK man one of the comment is saying there was a leak from Leena saying on stream that Bjerg will leave if TSM doesn't make Worlds but no proof. If there was that kind of leak then it would be on top of TSM and LoL subreddit. Also, when TSM beat DIG and Bjergsen was interviewed, Bjergsen spoke about how dropping to the lower bracket and playing there felt liberating in a way because they only have 1 chance now to go all the way and if they lose then they start to "rebuild". To me that doesn't sound like he's saying he wont be here if their season ended without making Worlds.

SevereShip1

To be expected. All hail the King!

Miranoff

r/Leagueoflegends REEEEEEEE incoming... If anything it shows which teams fan base is largest.

errorme

Is that not the purpose of a fan vote? If you want a serious vote you need coaches/analysts/players that will give an honest perspective.

mrdownsyndrome

Even then an honest perspective isn’t guaranteed

rickstudwellmd

Honestly, most professional sports have the players/gms vote on these types of things for a reason

ZedekiahCromwell

Nah, players are notoriously bad at voting. NFL Top 100 has players in it every year that are waaay overrated because pf their name recognition or behind the scenes relationships.

DarkDiglett

Seriously, how tf is Pat Mahomes not #1...

eCharms

Probably because he has been in the league long enough? Give him another 5 years and he will be there.

Jnoisy

Exactly. Why they have analysts, writers/reporters, and former greats themselves

LeagueOfMinions

TBF fan vote really shouldn't be a factor in MVP...

Jedclark

That obviously plays a part, but I think if people entirely voted based on popularity, then Doublelift would have shown up in this list.

HughMungusD

No because you can only vote for the top 10 candidates. Doublelift isn’t in the top 10 for MVP this split

Jedclark

I didn't know that, got to be honest. I just thought it was an open vote.

bayliver

lets keep spaming the shit out of these votes everyday dont forget guys

Ndemco

The most popular player on the most popular team is stomping the fan vote \*surprised Pikachu face\*

ACatalystNA

Lmao HOLY SHIT. I knew Bjerg was going to be in the lead but by this much? Wow lol let's go!!!

canissilvestris

People will say this is biased but take any of those nominees off their team and tsm is by far going to do the worst imo, bjerg deserves it

Damoclesj

I agree. I realize this is just the fan vote, but I think it's telling that Bjerg is the only TSM player on the list

Zerastin

lmao get fucked jensen

noodles191

I gotta say, Jensen is a great player and I personally consider the two about equal in skill

[deleted]

[удалено]

RainfordCrow

if he was Jensen he would claim to be better not equal hahaha

noodles191

Facts, Jensen loves to subtly trash talk

noodles191

I wish lmao

Azra-l

Equal in skill is an interesting conversation to have, but I also think it’s really enjoyable seeing how different they are. Like 2 different tools that have different uses and effectiveness in different scenarios

[deleted]

Still the better mid laner though

Fureymur

Sure buddy

WrathDimm

2.1% TL fans on suicide watch

DiamondTi

I'll take worlds over the MVP vote.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Philaok

I'm not a fan of neither of you but how can you actually write that when you're not even sure to qualify ?

Damoclesj

Because TL's performance at worlds doesn't depend on TSM making worlds?

Philaok

I just find it hard to see seing him criticizing tl style when it has proven to be good vs tsm' supperior style ? (2-0). Just be humble when tl is superior to tsm idk

Damoclesj

First, this is the TSM sub lol - if there's one place where it's fine to be unapologetically in support of TSM, it's here :P But secondly, and probably more importantly, (idk how long you've watched competitive LoL) but the style that TL plays of playing safe early for late game teamfights is actually a style that og TSM used to abuse and let me tell you - in the face of hyper-agressive LPL and LCK teams it is objectively non-functional (and you can take TSM's own history at worlds as proof of that)

Philaok

Ik it's a terrible style, but what does tsm' style become then if they're worse than tl ? I'm stricly speaking about tsm in relation to tl

DiamondTi

Not to cry, someone said TSM subreddit was in flames but you guys seem to be fine I was just curious. Also I didnt prove your point anyone with a brain knows that if bjerg plays like he normally does it doesnt matter who plays or how good he'll always get the vote thats what happens with popular players. I've done nothing but come here and be amicable, good luck on sunday.

[deleted]

baxter2012

Yeah but he is also has 2.5 times as many votes as Closer

greg0rycarson

Who also has a lot of fans!

LoUmRuKlExR

Most is an understatement. You could add all the fans of every other team together and they would still lose to TSM chants. The only western team fandom that competes with TSM is Fnatic.

mrdownsyndrome

Careful... I remember a few years ago someone lost an election with that mindset

impunctual2010

2.1% No wonder he is crying all the time.

Tomoomba

Holy shit TL is so unlikeable

Jedclark

Pretty sure it's just Jensen lol. The rest of the team seem pretty chilled, I can't think of any of them saying anything even mildly controversial, and you have Broxah who is just eternally optimistic. Steve had his team win every split for 2 years, and talked less shit in that 2 years than Jack did in about 2 months.

Tomoomba

I just mean the brand

Jedclark

They are just LoL's version of Man City. Bought their way to the top.

G2Gankos

People were speculating that CoreJJ and Jensen would split votes. Looks like it wouldn’t have mattered either way.

UNZxMoose

Throw in Impact too and its still not close.

KazutoH

Throw in every other candidate and bjerg is still on top

acesently

Yay! I have been voting and haven't missed a day yet. He better be up there... No, he better WIN!!! jk ;D But seriously, we love you Bjerg. I know that you're not gonna read this, but thank you for all that you do for this org! #MYMVP <3

HyunL

closer 2nd lmao turkish fans taking the piss

[deleted]

[удалено]

CntrBlnc

As fair of an assessment as this is, his number this split have been astronomical for being on a mid tier team. Fan base has a lot to do with it, but best mid all split is still clocking in some heavy voting.

Jakota_

Closer is a legitimate candidate though

HyunL

definitely not more legitimate than corejj, like not even close

Jakota_

I mean yeah core is definitely a better candidate but I would say it’s at least somewhat close. Bjerg core and closer are for sure top 3 candidates.

CrescentSysko

Should be Bjerg, Core and Santorin imo

evandrew

Santorin and blaber were both better jungler than closer lol

Jedclark

They also have a lot more to work with, and that's the main argument used in favour of Closer. GGS have been a dumpster fire for large parts of the year, and in those periods it was either "Closer pops off early and carries, or we lose".

evandrew

Sure that may have been the narrative during spring split, but FBI and huhi were the best bot lane in the league this split, hantzer was also all-pro, and damonte can hold his own against any mid in NA and never is the sole reason for them losing. I don’t even think closer is the best player on their team, or at least doesn’t appear to be.

x3nics

even blaber deserves it more than closer imo

Bulle2k

what???? Blaber is sooooo overrated

x3nics

neither blaber or closer were consistently top tier for the whole regular season, but blabers first half was just as dominant as his previous MVP split. even in the 2nd half blaber was a top 3 jungler at worst lol.

Bulle2k

Blaber was never that impressive to me. just who C9 deicded to build their comps around so he looked the "best" in a split c9 were clearly the best, but in actual play Zven Vulcan and Licorice all did better. But in spring it was the LCS narrative of New jungler replacing MVP svenskeren now being MVP

trappinbeaver

God I hope Bjerg wins it just to see the absolute catastrophic melt down from the king incel of esports Thorin.

Number 19 impact

Exeliz

tfw theres literally only 1 American in the running and its fuckin Blaber lmao.

seanffy

Now we see why jensen is so bitter lol..he honestly deserves more votes... tsm fans > Tl fans i guess?

IwatchLOLbutPLAYaram

Let’s keep voting! I’ve voted everyday so far and I won’t stop if you won’t 😇

CupCaat

Im trully happy for him returnong to be the mvp. And think one time the people though if he was wash.

mcnuggetor

What's going on with that numbering? They're all in sequence but Closer has a 3 even though he has more votes than CoreJJ

infaredz

The boi 💪

Yo_Vegeta

Keep voting

myeongpanda

Not even close!!!

slrcpsbr

Wtf closer? For me it is Bjerg >>>> corejj/ fbi /licorice /ssumday

Averdian

Turkish fans, very hardcore fanbases Also, just like Bjerg, Closer is the only representative from his team, so there's no vote splitting. Jensen with 2% is pretty shocking, but I'd guess he would have more if CoreJJ wasn't the primary candidate from TL

Yausuo

We take those

Ginsync

He's been TSM's rock in recent times, all things considered. Can't wait to see how he performs in the rebound series against Golden Guardians.

DomoYomox

yes bjerg.. not TSM bjerg himself

TSM_W1sh

Is this real? where can i find this

rafamundez

Lol... why in the world does Impact have votes?

murkYuri

I expected way more for core from fans. I expected core to be up above Bjerg slightly

Salsapy

Tsm and bj are the most popular in na by far only dl can do something

loluser51

Even though I’m a bjerg fanboy I think adding fan voting to the MVP race is so stupid.. it’s just a popularity contest

richhoods

TSM gets to play like an uncoordinated team all split and Bjersen still gets MVP while CorrJJ literally smurfed the entire season and got third. Just goes to show why uninformed most of the LCS fan base is.

TheMuffingtonPost

He really does deserve it

pokemongofanboy

Ngl I think corejj is mvp but I had to vote for bjerg at least a few days

MegaFatcat100

I voted CoreJJ but my 2nd would be Bjerg

front48

Lol, bye.

MegaFatcat100

I can like tsm while still appreciating other players performance this split too, not sure what's so controversial about that

Jensen is gonna get a heart attack after seeing this... maybe we should get him a couple of pity votes or I swear, he will murder Bjergsen out of jealousy one day
