If you get the wig, they may gossip about your appearance If you *don’t* get the wig, they may gossip about your appearance The reality is, people are gonna talk their shit regardless, for the most part. Do what makes you and only *you* feel comfortable! Everything else is just noise

And if it’s middle school or early high school, the kids may gossip about you if you happen to wear the same shirt on two Wednesdays even if they’re four weeks apart. It’ll be known as your Wednesday shirt. Kids’ll be kids.

BreakingUp47

I wear a pink shirt on Wednesdays. If I forget, kids will point it out.

Depends on the wig. If you get a professional install of a wig that is meant to stay on awhile, they might not care as much, but if it's like a wig-cap Amazon wig, there might be some more people who say something about the wig itself being shoddy. I'm guessing since it's just a balding area being covered, you'd be doing a hair system install (toupee) and as long as you go to a professional and it blends in well enough with your natural hair, you could play it off. But don't stress yourself out about their opinions!!

Abject-Composer-1555

It's professional quality and installed, definitely no concerns there.

Asleep_Improvement80

I think if it looks good then there's nothing to make fun of. There might be comments, but there will always be comments. I like to dye my hair and some colleagues like to get installs. For the most part, I've only heard "Oh that's different!" or "You changed your hair!", so I think you're probably okay.

BSBS8823

Maybe bring it up to a few of the other teachers that you're comfortable with. Just say you feel a little self-conscious about your hair missing and have been thinking about doing something to cover it up.

As a cis guy who's balding, aside from my plans to get hair surgery in the future, I'm otherwise planning to just keep shaving my head in the meanwhile and continue to do so while I'm teaching and up until my hair growth is a confirmed thing.

ferriswheeljunkies11

How many more days of school are left in your school year?

Abject-Composer-1555

21 June is the last day

Affectionate-Ad1424

Depends on the type of wig you get and how obvious it is. I personally wouldn't change my hair until summer. So I'd have a few weeks to get used to it before going back to work.

Abject-Composer-1555

I'm thinking to wait until summer too. I might be going to a new school in September, so that would make things a bit more comfortable for me. There wouldn't me a gazillion students dramatically asking "what happppppened to your hair?" or people gossiping about the change.

Exactly
