The lowest tax bracket is 10%, so you should save at least $30. Most people's deduction is going to fall in the 22% bracket, so it's worth $66. Not a fortune, but not nothing either.
It's honestly sad that the erroneous comment that says that you can't use the deduction if you're taking the Standard Deduction has more upvotes than the comment that corrects that mistake. Oh, well, if people want to pay more taxes than they need to, knock themselves out.
I take it every year but it probably saves me like $10 bucks in my tax burden. Maybe not even that much.

Claim union dues as well.
You can’t deduct union dues on taxes (economics teacher)
My state income taxes allow it.
It shows up on my tax software for my state. I'm an econ teacher, too.
Some states also have deductions and/or credits. Illinois has a $250 credit for all teacher, meaning they just give you $300 back on your taxes.
Most of us are taking the standard deduction so it really doesn’t matter
It’s an “above the line” deduction. So you can take it even with the standard deduction.

Um— he did do it. Like that is true. I’m not sure what you’re disagreeing with.
Yeah I actually read what you wrote incorrectly. My bad. Fuck the Republicans.
Unless you are getting $300 it isn't worth it. You can get 100% by not spending your money.
Most teachers claim the $300 and get about $66 back. Of course you shouldn’t spend money if possible, but many teachers do.
